    You should have stressed how important it is make sure the damaged plug can no longer be used or plugged in . They should not be re used if damaged . I know a person who re used a damaged pug , when she went to plug it in the cover slipped off exposing the live terminals . It blew a hole in her hand .

    the live should be tight (as short as possible) in case the cord grip fails the first wire to disconnect is the Live making the appliance safe, should the neutral disconnect first it leaves the appliance live but in a false state of being dead, if a earth is the first to disconnect it would leave the user acting as the only earth in the case of a fault.

    Can you use any plug that fits an appliance as long as it has the correct fuse for the appliance? e.g I lost my cable for my tv, it’s basically similar to a kettle lead and I found another one that fits. On the plug I found it says 3A printed on it and it has a 3A fuse. So i took the 3A fuse out and put a 10A fuse in, as I 100% know the tv needs a 10A fuse. Is this ok to use as I’ve put the correct fuse in the plug for the tv?

    • @alunroberts1439
      @alunroberts1439 3 года назад

      If you look along side of the flex it should be printed on it what it can take look down the side also might have 0.5 mm2
      That is 3 amps Up to 720 Watts
      0.75 mm2
      6 amps Up to 1440 Watts
      1.0 mm2
      10 amps Up to 2400 Watts
      1.25 mm2 13 amps Up to 3120 Watts

    • @okaro6595
      @okaro6595 Год назад

      I doubt any TV requires over 3 A fuse. 3 A is 720 VA, even with a power factor 0.5 that would be 360 W. Few TVs use over 200 W.

    • @bandq

      Hi, the caps at the ends of the wires are called ferrules. They can also be known as 'crimps'. You will find these on our website here - bit.ly/3WfLoyq. I hope that helps 😊

    I got something that’s American so it’s plug type A, can I change it for a type G

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Год назад

      Check that somewhere on the appliance it says it's dual voltage (if the range of voltages marked goes up to 230V or 240V. America uses a lower voltage and not some appliances work on both voltages, but not all do
