  • How do you continue to live when everything is taken from you?
Aaron was a successful hairstylist but his life took a turn after a motorbike accident left him paralysed. He was depressed, struggling with simple things that we take for granted, like eating and getting dressed. This is a story of how support groups and Art helped him overcome an almost insurmountable ordeal.

On "assessment" through this video, he has quite the muscle atrophy to both his upper extremities which would indicate disuse (which is obviously due to his paralysis). Most notably, his right hand posture/contracture which is spot on for someone that has a spinal cord injury or stroke. Also notably, is his anterior trunk. His abdomen sticks out basically showing a slouched posture and because he has not control and likely significant atrophy to his abdomen and below, his core strength such as his abs and lower back muscle contribute to that slouched position which a "distended" abdomen (though it's not distended actually, it's just slouched due to no to poor muscle control).

@lokale: your chitta( subconscious mind) is screwed up...
Our past life events, experiences and impressions are all the data recorded in our subconscious mind. They rise up all of a sudden and appear on the conscious mind. That is the reason why habits are so hard to break. They occupy dominant impressions in the subconscious mind, and hence acts of giving up bad habits become powerless. A robber who wants to Rob people and steal their stuff, thinks constantly about stealing, police, safe houses, tools to disguise etc. why can't he be a better person? He can, it's just that he has pursued his actions and thinking on negativities. The purification of the chitta ( subconscious mind) can only help you to see life with love, positivity and hope. What can you do, don't let your senses tune into negative stuff. That includes talking, listening, seeing.... After a year your dominant negative impressions gets overpowered by the +ve impressions and you have a better outlook and perspectives in life. You can do some selfless acts of service, do some meditation and start a habit to thank a higher divine power daily. After all, this life could be our final breath this very second. It's not guaranteed that you will get live till your 80s or 90s. Surrender, to higher divine power and expression of gratitude can bring immense joy, humility and compassion to you and the fellow people you meet everyday.

We are all given a deck of cards to play the game of life with. Every deck is different. And how you play your cards will differ from others. Some will cheat, others will always have an ace up their sleeve and for some, the queen of spades or hearts will always be at hand. Sometimes your high cards are taken out of circulation. A smart man like you recognized that some of your ‘so called’ lower cards when played together, had more value than an ace! Good for you! Your portraits are exquisite! The ones you do of animals capture their very essence. Many can paint them, but it takes a special ability to see their souls as you do. That is such a gift! To be honest with you, I don’t see you as disabled, but other-abled. In the future I can foresee A.I. being of great use to you. Are local universities working on any projects that might be of benefit to you and the community? I am certain you would make a worthy and inspiring contribution! Continue to live fearlessly and karma will smile upon you time and time again! 😊❤

Am an artist and all I could say that it takes heck loads of time and effort to be able to paint like he does.
Not everyone (even capable artists) can paint as detailed as he can.

My ex husband is physical therapist , once he took a customer that had paralyzed from accident, her surgeon told her she would not be able to use her hands. She was in despair, she went many therapist that told her the same. Someone indicated her to my ex husband, he look all her, check all paper of surgery she had, exrays every detail, talked with her surgeon to hear what nervous damaged. Inspite no hope, He took her as patient, but he feel something that he didnt saw in paper. He just said to her, your hand will work again, out the blue. She start treatment in his clinic. I dont know how long, in some time her hand start work, it moving, finger by finger. In some point, there is, her hand working and more strong the normal one. I think her determination, he was her only hope. I always wondered, what he feel in order to give her certainly of healing. He said: I dont know, I just feel, I didnt see any hope in paper. Just intuition. There is some health professional that has some gift, they can do what others can't.

You are truly amazing to have risen so far above your condition! Your paintings are gorgeous, & to think you do them all with your mouth. I have done oil painting when I was younger & now I do mainly crochet, & to think of being without the use of my hands would be devastating, but you have overcome this so well. I recently had an operation on my spine, & not sure if I will ever be pain free or walk the way I used to, but am lucky to still be able to walk. Keep strong, as now living on your own you are amazing, & to be very much admired. I live on my own too, but I’m old now. I have 2 1/2 acres of land to look after as well & a pony & dog to care for & I live in Western Australia. I also know how depressed you can become if you aren’t careful. Lovely to hear your story & how far you have come . Well done, cheers & take care, 🤗💕👏🥰😍❤️👍🏻

I know someone who is a quadriplegic.
He went from a healthy, strong, energetic man, to this.
He simply got up one morning in March 2023,
    headed to the washroom,
&, for unknown reasons, passed out.
While falling to the floor, he hit his head on the edge of the bath tub.
I think of him every day.
Just like that, his life changed, in a split second.
I hope nothing but the best for you sir...
    & for anyone like this.

This video helped me today. It motivates me a bit. I too have health issues however not as severe as this guy.
I'm still in the depression stage trying my best to find something I'm good at besides video games which are pointless cause playing video games can't be monetized.
Sorry for the bad grammar, I'm drunk and up late again because the depression makes it hard to fall asleep early.

What a great artist! As an admirer of art this man gave me goosebumps of what we can achieve as a human being when faced with tragedy. To be brutally honest i feel like if i had 1 percent of mental toughness as this man, it would be possible for me to achieve great things. Imagine the willpower and mental strength he has while he made the decision to live independently. Thank you for the small yet powerful documentary, i really needed it.
