Jason, what makes your channel stand out from the crowd is that you are willing to go further and deeper into the Wide, Wide World of Bourbon than so many others. There is SO much more to the story than just reviewing the next wildly overpriced limited and allocated release most of us poor SOB's will never have a shot at. If there were a poll, I'd say The Mash and Drum is the hands-down BEST on WhiskeyTube. Throw in the fact you are reppin' C-Bus makes me want to buy you a drink sometime, my man. 🥃 Keep preachin' the Gospel of Bourbon. 🥃
My grandfather was a lawyer in NYC when Prohibition was in acted. He told me before Prohibition, whiskey was predominantly Rye and everything was barrel proof. If you wanted a drink, you got a shot. Anything not barrel proof was considered poison. During Prohibition, the moonshine tasted so bad that people started mixing drinks.
3 more reasons Heaven Hill is my favorite distillery. I know it’s much more of a trend to like Buffalo Trace, but HH wins out for me due to availability and price. I don’t mind spending for a quality bourbon, but I also don’t want to spend $60 for Weller Special Reserve. By the way, Jason, got Batches 2 and 3 of K.Luke this past weekend.
I was in my 20s when Pikesville rye left Maryland for Kentucky. This was heartbreaking for those true Maryland rye drinkers like myself. I actually still have bottles of Pikesville rye that were distilled and bottled in Maryland. Recently got the Kentucky Pikesville rye, looking forward to trying it. I'm absolutely thrilled to see Maryland was recognized on the label. It's a great bottle and label.
Great job Jason and Bernie! Loved this video! Obviously big fan of the maryland and KY style ryes vs Indiana, PA style. Love my sweet corn with my rye :)
Watched 10 months ago and rewatching now. Still enjoy the Elijah Craig rye! After watching this video I picked up the Pikesville rye and finished the bottle in a couple of months! It’s a really flavorful neat pour!
A friend and I are hosting a tasting this coming Saturday with these 3. We won't tell the folks until the end that they are all Heaven Hill, same mash bill, and the same location in the warehouses. It should be fun. Thanks for the vid.
Great show Jason! Love hearing the history behind the brands. I’m a fan of the Elijah Craig Rye, love the citrus and other flavors even at a low proof. I can remember my dad having vanilla bean ice cream with a splash of bourbon back in the late sixties early seventies.
Love learning the history of whiskey. It's unfortunately not taught in schools outside of Kentucky and I'm not sure how much they spend on this subject. I like all aspects of whiskey from rye to finished Scotch also. I feel sorry for those that limit themselves to just “bourbon” like I have seen many do. Great show Jason. Enjoy!!
Great vid and interview Jason! Bernie is a character and a fun story teller and historian. (as you are) I love ryes and Ritt and Pike are favorites. Time to get all 3 up from the basement for a little side by side. Thanks man. Cheers!
What a memory jogger. 20 years ago I had Armagnac on prune ice cream at a small restaurant in Toulouse, France. Was skeptical at first (prune ice cream?) but it was delicious! The Armagnac was more intense the deeper you got into the dessert. I have never seen it in the US but Bernie has me thinking about it.
Awesome video Jason!!! Throughly enjoyed all the history. Pikesville is our go to Rye. Absolutely delicious 😋 we haven't tried Elijah Craig Rye yet, but from your tasting notes we definitely need to!
Cool video to see you be able to sit back more & listen to someone else discuss brand/history that you usually pop up on the screen. Been to HH twice luckily but anytime I drive past from Chicago area I want to stop by
I'm not really a fan of rye but being a philly guy it was cool to hear the Philly connection. I spent many an afternoon in Rittenhouse Square when I worked in that area.
Not big into rye at the moment. I have >115 bottles of bourbon, and I have 3 bottles of Rye: Old Forester 100 Rye, Pikesville and a Found North Rye. Great opportunity to learn more about ryes. Nice job Jason. Good luck at next round of MM.
GREAT video. Very cool conversation. I live 5 blocks from Rittenhouse Square in Philly, so I found that really cool. Awesome video as a whole, really enjoyed it. Cheers Jason
Big fan of Rittenhouse, it's my go to for making Sazerac's along with Old Overholt BiB. Pikesville is also outstanding but I mostly sip it neat. Not really a fan of the Elijah Craig at 94 proof. Wish they would make a barrel proof limited release, with the extra age that could be great.
If I'm correct, I believe I am, George Washington encouraged the making of rye whiskey, considered rye whiskey and uniquely American, same as bourbon but rye is a little dryer, whereas bourbon is more sweet, corn mash vs rye mash!
Great video! I really like Rittenhouse I've never had the other two brands. I wonder if we might see a B.P. Single Barrel release from Heaven Hill?? Thank J, Cheers buddy! 🥃
I love Rye just a tiny bit more than bourbon. Top Quality Ryes, for me, usually have more complexity than top Quality bourbons. I wish more people were into Rye!
As a person raised in philly i did not connect the rittenhouse connection. I will say they did darken the colors a bit to make those rye look very dark as you can tell by the color of the pikesville label being more brown than green as i stare at my empty bottle on the counter

Thanks Jeff. That means a lot to me.

I make eggnog using vanilla ice cream! Make it a day early and put it in the frig!
Fantastic video!! And a EC BP Rye would be 🔥
That was fun. I am going to watch it again in few days

Bernie is great and I could listen to him talk about whiskey history for hours. Thanks Jason.
Awesome video Jason!! You definitely were the right person for this discussion with Bernie!

Well done. Truly love the history. Cheers!!

Fantastic work, Jason! You did a great job in this setting, really looking forward to hopefully more videos like this!
Love this video Jason. I love the fact you do educational topics. I hope you do more!
This was such a great episode. Jason please do more like this. Salute from Staten Island NY🥃
Great video, Jason! Need more of these!
That was awesome! Solid conversation. Good work buddy
All three of these are awesome. Great video man.
Jason, great video! Keep 'em coming!
What a fantastic and educational video.
Great job Jason and thank you Bernie.
Great interview Jason! Top notch! Cheers Jason!🤙
This was awesome, hope there is more of these from the rest of Heaven Hill lineup and other distilleries come.

I made what he suggested immediately when I got home. Simple and delicious.
Good afternoon from Texas!
That was phenomenal, thanks for sharing this one. Always fun content and this is a pleasant bonus. Color me adding EC Rye to my hunt list.
That was the best show ever. Amazing. Loved it. I learned so much
Great informational program... Thanks guys...
Awesome video Jason!!! Throughly enjoyed all the history. Pikesville is our go to Rye. Absolutely delicious 😋 we haven't tried Elijah Craig Rye yet, but from your tasting notes we definitely need to!
I love bourbon and Vanilla ice cream, gotta try some rye and ice cream, because rye is my favorite.
Cool video to see you be able to sit back more & listen to someone else discuss brand/history that you usually pop up on the screen. Been to HH twice luckily but anytime I drive past from Chicago area I want to stop by
Jason C, great video! Thanks!
Very solid video! I love a good learning lesson. Bernie was great!
Great episode!!!thx for the in-depth video… need some pikesville here in the Bronx
Fantastic interview, 🥃
Good interview. Well versed by Bernie...
Great Show! I love Pikesville!
Amazing video!
Great Video and content. I always have a Pikesville close by.
I'm not really a fan of rye but being a philly guy it was cool to hear the Philly connection. I spent many an afternoon in Rittenhouse Square when I worked in that area.
Great man this Bernie Lubbers. I have his book and read it twice. Very amusing read.
Si, great content as always!

Pikesville is the rye I’d serve someone who is a bourbon fan that thinks they don’t like rye. It’s got the best of both worlds (bourbon and rye).
GREAT video. Very cool conversation. I live 5 blocks from Rittenhouse Square in Philly, so I found that really cool. Awesome video as a whole, really enjoyed it. Cheers Jason
OMG. LOOOOVE content like this. There's way too little history on Bourbontube. Thanks buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: Its harder to find in the last 2 years but Pikesville is pretty much my top pick for avail Ryes.
I loved this
We need a high proof ECBP Rye
Whiskey over ice cream, let's go!!
Great video, we’ll done 🤘🏽🥃
Great video. Thought it was interesting he said people might not have seen the Rittenhouse. That is the easiest to find around here.
Cool. Cool. Not too much different in the mash bills, just the age really. Would be neat if HH created a 10/100.
Cheers, Jason!
Great vid & dialogue, ❤ rittenhouse rye, one of my favs👍

Good afternoon from Virginia!!
Vagina says Good evening!!
As a person raised in philly i did not connect the rittenhouse connection. I will say they did darken the colors a bit to make those rye look very dark as you can tell by the color of the pikesville label being more brown than green as i stare at my empty bottle on the counter
Too bad Pikesville is allocated in Virginia. I'd love to try it.
Lubbers got you on the math lol.
What do y’all think about a video recommending the best bourbons that come in 1.75L bottles?
Great video! Whats the age on EC rye? Did I miss that bit?
They didn't say. I think it's a range.
Heard to be mostly 4 to 6 years but can't verify
pikesville and rittenhouse are two of my favorites.
Penelope 13 year Light Whiskey is $99.
I love when you do videos like this. Fun and informative. Not so much of the fan of the 2-hour+ videos.
ECBP rye please 🙏
👍👍
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye
We have all three, but we go through bottles of Rittenhouse Rye for cocktails.there is no comparison for cocktails
So what is the age of Elijah Craig?
WTH has happened to Pikesville!?!?! Noticeably *ABSENT* from the shelves in EVERY STORE I've been in for the last couple of years....DAMNIT!!!!
Pikesville is the truth
Pikesville? Wait What? That really exists? I thought it was just a myth.
Elijah Craig rye looks much lighter compared to the others.
I know this guy didn't call Rittenhouse FOUR YEAR the most sought after rye in the world 😂😂😂😂
