Thank you! I love the historical looks back. My love of bourbon is of course driven by taste, but part of it is the history of 🇺🇸 America's whiskey.

Good video! Mark got one thing slightly incorrect though. At about 3:20 he mentions when Blanton's first came out in 1984 that all of it was going to Japan. That's not quite accurate. It was released in the US in the fall of 1984 first and then went to Japan in early 1985. Source: I have done extensive history as one of the largest collectors of Blanton's in the world. Multiple advertisements and newspaper articles from the time can back this up. Still, he has a good point that Japan was the market that most of it went to eventually and for that matter kept Blanton's and bourbon alive when nobody else wanted it! Cheers!

I have been collecting whiskey for many years I went hard on it in 1991 my whole issue with the Buffalo Trace that I've been drinking since the late '80s something has happened somewhere somehow down the road something changed? When I pull an old dusty out of Elmer t or blatton's from the early '90s or even weller antique vein bottles something's just different whether it was the wood The tree quality? Or grain quality in the last couple of years or so quality has dropped and it's not just me it's everyone I talk to in everywhere I read people are not very happy with the quality of a lot of bourbons that are hitting the store floors it seems like they just out to pump out barrels and the quality has dropped? I'm sure there's some honey barrels that's the case in every distillery but seeing so many other distilleries out there doing amazing things and pumping out delicious juice I think it's time Buffalo Trace starts putting more into their mixing and sniffing and tasting into their bottling line I hope this don't get hated on I'm just a consumer one man's opinion.... Peace and love drink more bourbon

Hey Buffalo Trace, stop hiding every drop of whiskey worth drinking behind Allocated bottles! The Beanie Baby Bourbon boom will go the same way. People go out of there way and spend so much to be grossly disappointed. I remember when ancient age tasted good……..then you decided ordinary Americans don’t deserve your drinkable whiskey. You didn’t used to put so much “new make” in the blends. Is this the price for higher volume?
