    I started Keto 3 months ago, 277 lbs and my a1c was 7.4. Now 235 lbs and a1c is down to 5.7. It’s been tough but I have been cooking separate meals for me and family and work at night. I used to wear size 44 shorts and now can fit 38s. I just need work on my energy for workouts since I struggle with sleep due to life schedule. Cravings are more mental for me but my body doesn’t crave it. Main goal is to reverse my diabetes.

    I started keto on September 1 when I was 316 pounds. This morning, November 4, I weigh 289. I am never hungry. I mean NEVER hungry. Two weeks ago, I stopped taking my insulin because my doctor had said that insulin makes it harder to lose weight. Before keto, my blood sugar was difficult to control even with insulin. Spikes over 200 were very common. Now my blood sugar rarely goes over 140, even without taking any insulin. And I have been doing it without fully understanding what I am supposed to do on true keto. I stumbled on your videos this week and love them because you back up your videos with the research studies that we don’t have time to read.

    My deal ! I've battled weight since I was 5 , I'm 53 now. In 2005 I came home from work and two half gallons of juice in the matter of seconds ( I'm not exaggerating) I found out I was pre diabetic. Well I didn't take it seriously , went to Lancaster, Pa and gorged myself with everything to eat. This was a chain reaction of my future hell! I couldn't get enough to drink , my kidneys was hurting., my vision was extremely blurry with contrast, I found out I had a kidney stone. Doctors refused to treat me , thinking it was a back injury . They checked my blood sugar and it was 503 . I had neuropathy in my feet which was incredibly painful. I ended up seeing a endocrinologist and he immediately put me on metformin, actos and lantus. I couldn't get my sugar under 250 so the answer bariatic surgery or die. I went to several more doctors as time went on , all the same story except adding more insulin's and pills, with the same exact bariatric recommendation. I was on a list of medicines that looked like a shopping list for 100 people. My father died from complications of diabetes so that also added to mental problems with depression, so more meds more hunger more insulin, foot pain , I could only manage in a scooter. I then sat down and started a plan, low carb only counting total carbs and walking on a treadmill starting at 5 min . In 2.5 years I lost 40 pounds. This was totally unacceptable to me. I started researching keto back as far as the early 1900's. They treated patients with epilepsy. It was very effective from the studies. They also discussed glucose response with carbohydrates. All carbs are not equal. Fiber and sugar alcohols have almost zero effect on insulin response. This is where olestra became popular. You had to eat them in the bathroom because you were stuck there for hours after eating olestra chips. I then started keto according to books and most success dictated net carbs so I went in that direction and lost a total of 185 pounds. No scooter , hiking in the mountains , perfect blood work , I went for an A1C of 12.6 to now I'm at 5.6 , I'm only on metformin now but Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm now on a mission to inspire others to do the same . Anyway thanks for your time ! I'm not selling anything and no affiliations to click. Maybe just to inspire people to get moving !

    I’m glad you touched on Cancer, i went to one of the best alternative medicine cancer clinic in the USA after finding melanoma (not genetic in my case) at the age of 24.. they told me to do vegan keto with meat 1x daily so not fully vegan. I tried it and that was awful so i went with regular keto. After 6 months on keto i looked taller, thinner, healthier skin and less acne, more energy, gym was fun, super clean house lol, felt less stress... (chronic stress I feel is just as important to reduce as unhealthy carbs) but then the FB warrior vegans got me. So i went vegan and felt like shit and gained the weight back, lost all the benefits pretty fast. That spiraled into going back to a SAD diet. And here i am back at keto watching this guy for the past 3 weeks and already feeling amazing. I got back into ketosis rather fast about 48 hours. But pretty sure it’s because my body still remembers how to utilize that fat for energy from when i previously did keto.
    Take it from someone who made mistake after mistake on keto the first time. Cheated tons, still ate carbs and would have to jump back on once a week so basically only keto 3-6 days a week. IT WORKS even if you make everyyy mistake and just keep going it still works. I looked and felt amazing. I already feel amazing this time, this time I think I’m more motivated because I really don’t have the urge to splurge and cheat, and when i do it’s not satisfying at all. I’ve been cancer free for 3 years now. And I have heard many stories through Instagram about how people have reversed and healed completely their cancer using keto or vegan keto or green keto, even dirty keto. It’s definitely not a for sure cure but i have seen so much success.
    * not everyone can get back into ketosis as fast as me, both times i have been keto was while nursing 🧑‍🍼 my children which nursing and being pregnant can speed up the process (or at least i think it does) personally after a cheat meal i have seen myself get back into ketosis as little as 12 hours but again that’s while breastfeeding
    TMI but one of my biggest issues was toxins and not sweating or 💩 enough. They wanted me in a sauna and going daily 🚽.. keto did that for me just running around like a crack head cleaning left me sweaty and I definitely flushes plenty of toxins. Again compare that to vegan and I wasn’t flushing 😉 often and already stopped sweating as much. It’s not until you get a cancer diagnosis that you truly appreciate sweating.

    Hello, I am one of the thousands of people participating in the one month Keto challenge... I know you more than likely wont see this... but one the off chance that you do... it would be AMAZING if in your next update video for the challenge you could address how it is okay to fail, as long as you don't give up... and maybe address all of the negative comments and post on the Facebook page... there are people on the page who are making this challenge less like a community exercise in supporting each other, and more like a competition about who can make everyone else feel like the biggest loser (and not in terms of weight or inches). The Facebook page was a novel idea, but without anyone monitoring it... alot of people aren't getting the support they are looking for, or need.

I appreciate support, that's what I'm here for. We all basically know what to eat. We get support through the ups and downs. I'm apparently very slow at losing. I think my body was already used to intermittent fasting so with keto losing lbs is like pulling teeth with plastic plyers. I'm older which is not the average age here as a 67 year old woman. • @Okie343
      @Okie343 3 года назад

      I'm sorry to hear about your Mom's Parkinson's, but I have some great news for you. I just so happen to have researched this and know what causes it and how to reverse it. I feel like I'm your lucky lottery ticket LOL. If you think about it, what's the chances that out of millions of people, we meet on YT and I have the cure you need? I guess like they say, God has a reason for all things. Anyway, years ago when I was in college and had to do a Masters degree thesis paper, the professor said it could be a paper about anything we wanted. Since we have different family members who have had Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, Lupus, and schizophrenia, I knew there had to be a link to all of these things, and decided to do some investigation into it. My Grandfather died from Parkinson's, my Uncle died from ALS, and I have a distant cousin who has schizophrenia. My Grandfather's sister was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's and a 3rd cousin has lupus. Anyway, after alot of research, I found out the link to all of these things and it's free copper. It's a genetic defect in the ATP7B gene which is a copper binding gene. When the copper from the food we eat is not adequately binded or bound to ceruloplasmin protein, it can't be evacuated out of the body through the bile duct, and gradually builds up. Most people with this defect live a relatively normal life, because their blood brain barrier (BBB) protects their brain, but when they get older, the BBB starts to deteriorate and the toxic buildup of free copper enters their brain, which causes Alzheimer's, Parkinson's etc. When people are affected by the free copper at a younger age, it's usually lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or schizophrenia. The toxic free copper is highly inflammatory and has the same effect as heavy metal poisoning. There's a new test called the direct measurement of free copper test and the test # is 279071 at the lab corp locations in the US. This is different than a normal serum copper test, this test will measure the amount of unbound or free copper contained in the serum copper. In all of these diseases and disorders, it has been shown that people have an elevated free copper. In fact almost 20 years ago 2 researchers applied with the FDA to treat these conditions with a copper lowering compound named ammonium tetrathiomolybdate. One of the researchers actually took Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients and decoppered them with this compound, which reversed their conditions. The FDA sometimes takes decades to approve anything, and I'm sure big pharma had something to do with blocking this cure, because as you know, treating these conditions with drugs is a billion dollar industry. Anyway, I'll give you my email Erica, and you can contact me if you need more information. If you want, I can email papers to you that you can give to her doctor, which shows the tests she needs and how to lower her free copper. Since this is a genetic or hereditary thing, you should also have your free copper tested. Years ago I tested my free copper and it was super high. I have since lowered it to normal, long ago. Anyway, my email is natureman223 at g mail com. I had to spread it out and use at in place of the symbol, because YT has keyword software that blocks email sharing. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Take care Erica, and don't worry, your Mother's condition can be reversed. I can email you medical literature showing you how to lower her free copper with zinc therapy. Good luck and God Bless.

    I've been dealing with digestive issues for years, and I've seen multiple practioners including a GI doctor, a functional medicine doctor and a gut health coach. I've gained what I think is important info but still I was not getting relief. I started keto in a effort to get to a normal so that I can start adding food items to see what exactly I am sensitive to. For the first time I am hopeful. That said, I think I might just stick with keto anyway for the health benefits, especially alzheimers prevention. I've eliminated vegetables for the moment since I appear to be sensitive, at least to some, and I need to figure out a multivitamin in the meantime. Thanks you for all your education and insight!

    My Doctor is amazed, everyone that knows me is amazed at my physical transformation & most importantly I feel GREAT!! Intermittent fasting has made it so I didn’t wrinkle up, nor do I have loose skin & I’m up there in the years. Even my family says if they didn’t know my age they would not believe it. I totally recommend Keto & IF to everyone who wants a high quality lifestyle.💖

But the benefits don't stop there... you will very quickly realize that it's SO important that you think for yourself instead of blindly following what others tell you. Sure, investigate, but make educated decisions. Keto is like a gateway drug to new critical thinking.

    Hi thomas i wanted to ask you if you could make a video about cheat meal. See I ussually cheat on sundays and not just a high carb meal, but also sweet stuff like coockies cakes etc. I've been in keto for 5 months and I've noticed that if I cheat on Sundays, and then do a 21-22 hour fast (on Monday), I easily go back into keto again. So it would be great if you do a video explaining a little bit about your cheat day and if doing this has a lot of negative repercussion on the fat adaptation. Thank you very much

I do 18 hour fasts almost daily. I have black coffee with Exongenous Ketones and Butter every morning and am not hungry until early afternoon. I am not getting all my fat in :-/ and most days I’m not getting my protein in either. My Macro Carbs are 20 but most days I’m getting only 9-12. So overall I’m not getting my macros in! HELP! I don’t want to lose muscle at my age!! I’m getting most of my gallon of water in! I take Vitamin supplements and I really don’t snack often. Maybe cashews or macadamia nuts and rarely a mozzarella cheese with salami snack. Any teaching you can give me will really help! I’m loving the KETO diet! I’ve lost 9 lbs so far but thankfully I’ve lost more inflammation and inches which is my goal! Thank you

    Thank you so much for your channel!! I have tried Keto 2 years ago and didn’t do too well. I ate too much fat, too many carbs and I was so confused. I began researching dieting on AARP and they referred their readers to a movie “The Magic Pill”. What an eye opening documentary on health and wellness. Both my parents had dementia, both diabetics. The information I had two years ago obviously wasn’t very helpful and I have been researching on line to educate myself more so I can be successful this go around. In my research I came across your channel. I started Monday 7/19. The first day I didn’t document what I ate until that night, I was just going to see if I could get into the rhythm of not eating carbs first. I realized I did pretty good. I followed your meal plan on one of your videos and I came in right on with my carbs! I was a little low on my fats and struggled to find something I could have to get me there. I was excited. I realize I can’t follow those meal plans everyday and I continued to watch my carbs the next day and focus on that as you suggested. It worked I was under in protein and fat but under on carbs. Today I watched a few more of your videos (thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!) So now I realize I don’t have to be afraid of eating more protein. You have explained this lifestyle so well! It can be very confusing and overwhelming as it was for me two years ago but now I feel confident, especially from your videos, that I can succeed and make this a healthy lifestyle for myself.
