LITERALLY I am about to put my phone next to my pillow and fall asleep to this!! Dash has such a nice voice and storytelling technique that is very soothing, and the nostalgia of my childhood game is comforting and familiar. Best sleep ever 😊
Oh yes! I was just about to put this on to fall asleep to! These videos have helped me so much. They give my mind something to focus on so I don’t ruminate on my current problems and their voice is very smooth and relaxing. Definitely the perfect sleep aid.
I really loved the way Orcs were portrayed in Oblivion. Sure, they are still tough and impolite bunch but they were not the trivial LOTR Orcs we are so used to as enemies in RPGs. Orcs in Oblivion are just like other races in many ways, although they are usually the butt of a joke. Can't say the same about skyrim's orc tribes honestly.
Agree to disagree there, I think the orcs are treated fairly well in Skyrim. There are orcs who grew up outside the strongholds or left them living with everyone else, or those living in their traditional strongholds like Malacath intended. the dichotomy is interesting, there's even a few points where more free-willed orcs clash with the stronghold life.
What's wrong with the orcs in skyrim? They either exist in cities just like oblivion or hang out in their strongholds because most people aren't cool with the worship of their god. The strongholds are closer to how they act in the lore, and they're pretty chill even in them. They just want to be left alone, they aren't really killing people like monsters.
@@yurisenpaii I didn't say there was anything wrong with them. I thought they were just stereotypical ones we get in games like Warcraft and such living in mountain fortresses being unfriendly to outsiders. My point was Oblivion's Orc race was a fresh take on the race as they live among the other races not causing extra trouble and fitting in like any other member of the empire. Hell, even the grand champion is a half-orc.
Maan, watching Oblivion lore & gameplay through your videos is such a nostalgia trip! Wish I could go back to the first time I ever played Oblivion; now those were the days~
Man your narration is always so spot on. It is both exhilarating and soothing at the same time. You are doing God (howard)s work and I'm going to listen to every quest in this beautiful game
Hello Dash! Just wanted to say that your content means a lot to me! I didn't know it was the same person at first about 4 years ago, TO BE FAIR, I was 12, but still! I love your content and it got me into the older Elder Scrolls games, which in turn got me into the Baldur's Gate games, and other many older games, without you I would never have had many of my best memories! In short; love your content, keep it up :D
Your narration of the story is the best I've ever seen on RUclips🔥 maybe consider covering other elder scrolls games. I'm sure it'll attract many more audiences. Keep up the good work ❤
The game mechanics are atrocious though. The leveling systems flaws actively take away from replayability. I love oblivion but it’s aged worse than morrowind
In my playthrough lord drad and his wife were both... nakey (not fully ofc they still had their undys) I thought it was normal- like yk the ogres wanned to humiliate them or smt
this quest always felt like its missing a stage, leading the orc rebellion and choosing the fate of the drads rather than them being instantly enslaved, as humorous as it is, would probably help make the quest feel a little more complete
One of the things I liked in Oblivion that was low key, was that the Daedric Shrines all had NPCs that could point you to where they were. Rather than just stumbling across a statue that actually worked as one blindly. It felt somehow more right for that information to be rarely known (Who wants to consort with Daedra normally?) but still rarely known (like 2-3 people can tell you where any shrine is if I remember). Felt a lot more, balanced per se. Than something like Morrowind where even though some locals worship the daedra openly none of them seem to know or care where the shrines to those Daedra are. Nice little touch really.
I genuinely agree. Especially due to the taboo nature of the statues. Stumping across an npc willing to risk being a social pariah by admitting they know anything about the statues was a great touch
this is a thing bethesda games need in general instead of this one thing one time, its like you cant ask anyone in town basic questions that you might have as a person in that world
I have such disagreements with how the Orcs and Malacath were characterized in this as opposed to Morrowind and Skyrim. It feels like an Imperial who is racist towards Orcs wrote the quest and dialogue here
@@BloodwyrmWildheart To be fair Oblivion in general really kinda shafted orcs, making them this stereotypical dnd bullshit with like the tiniest bit of flair that makes them seem like children, rather than the long-changed descendants of the powerful disciples of Trinimac, scorned and out-cast by every bit of society that wanted them, reveling in the betrayal of their CHIMer brothers, becoming like them. Destined to never build anything to truly last, but always building atop the dung of their own corpses. Oblivion just kinda made them dumb little babies that can rip your throat out or tamed little cogs in the machine, not fit to utter their race's name on their heretical lips. Basically all of them have forgotten Malacath's teachings, and Malacath himself was bastardized into this raging little manchild for some reason. It's a bad characterization

Yup, this is one of the many things that I love about Oblivion.
I absolutely love how they are celebrating the slave trade in Morrowind being abolished as they are themselves, slave guards. Holy shit pure gold.
I wont lie, I was letting them have random convos before I tried to contend with the guards & that lil gem popped in. Was too perfect :P
9:43 That cadence and timbre is spot on. I don't know if I should envy you or pity you. That was amazing nonetheless.

I love the way Malacath says "Lying maggot theyre MY ogres!" Like damn he sounds angry 😂😂

I love the Bosmer of Oblivion. Skyrim should have kept the voice, it was perfect for the insane Bosmer that popped up
"HEHEHEHEHEEEE" That laugh 😂
Oblivion gave the Orcs a lot of cool background, like making the Orum gang the key Skooma dealers in Cyrodil.
