I think its pretty nice that Peryite sent someone to save his followers. Seems a lot more benign than some gods etc in myth/fantasy
Another point to Peryite to be like Nurgle. He can give you cancerous tumors with eyes or make your lungs a toxic slime, but you now his little follower and he loves you. Or the fact that you giving him your soul

Dash's first approach with most situations is to see if he can kill the quest-related NPCs or not. And I love it.
It's the equivalent of cutting the gordian knot, it makes sense that it would come first
I firmly believe that once every major and minor quest is finished (or close enough) going "GodMode" and mercing* every single possible NPC is the true ending.
*You cannot stop Lord Dagon!*

Your story telling for Oblivion quests is second to none! I have not played this game, yet thanks to you, I am immersed as an observer!
If you can get your hands on the game you should! There is a learning curve around how you need to level so enemies dont get too strong on you too quickly, but otherwise it is an excellent game. It was my first deep foray into western high fantasy RPG's. I go back for more of it at least once a year. Cannot recommend it enough.

If I remember well peryt followers didn't go to his ream but to actually god who was trying to conquest. If I don't my stake peri told us they went to more near one which was the one of Prince disasters
The loading screens for this game led me to believe there were dragons and werewolves, which just turned out to be pictures of the shrines of Peryite and Molag Bal. But 12 year old me really enjoyed looking all over for them. Never finding any made it feel especially rare. Obviously I learned the truth eventually. As crazy as it sounds, I prefer my experience in Oblivion searching for mythical creatures and never finding them to what we eventually got in Skyrim. I think it's partly because of how young I was, but naively believing what I read in the books found in Oblivion and misinterpreting the images of the loading screens ended up making my first RPG experience one of mystery and wonder.
Now that is a fun image, imagining you going "Lets see a dragon!" couple years later...
Every time I watch these videos I think about how nobody can ever truly experience oblivion like when it was new. Age is part of it, but more so just because of where games were at and all the novel stuff that was in it that is not at all unique anymore. It's still an amazing game but around the time it came out it was even more special.
Could be just the nostalgia factor, but I'm sure someone knows what I mean.
I always found it creepy when you walk to this shrine and you see all the followers frozen and youre there by yourself with no living person around you for miles its kind of eerie

You don't want to complete this quest until your Blade, Blunt, H2H, Marksman, and Destruction are at 100 because you can spam up those skills on the frozen bodies. You can also spam up on the ghosts in your haunted mansion in Anvil, but they fight back. I always do this quest fairly late in the game after I've maxed out my attack skills.

13:49 in old Germanic culture they did that with horses, called a nithing pole. Daedra warriors can be heard saying "die nithing" in combat, again referring to that grizzly pagan tradition ☝️

this shook me to the core. so much so that I had to check to make sure I didn't enter a different reality. Peryite is so rarely talked about I legitimately forgot he existed.
Nice to see the summoned “little” spiderling made Dash paralyzed. That happens all too much to me, especially when it attacks from behind. 🤣
There is that moment where you are totally impotent & mentally flailing to get up but stuck watching the animation.
Imagine being the guy you beat up coming back to his arrow riddled, burned body.

I was deflated. And then I read the followers wiki pages. Nothing. Also deflated. I wanted a cool back story or party or... something! Maybe they head to Caldew and expunge the Necromancers. Would have been cool.
Makes sense then why Peryite would need a mortal's help to free his followers. If they were on his own realm he could've done it himself.

the final battle with the final boss was epic.
I was blocked by the final boss when I tried to get out of the room, but I used Passwall Magical Item, then I get rid of part of the wall to make an exit... then I went to the room where his source of power was... Then I touched it... a cutscene. After that, I was sent back into the city...

out of universe explanation: That is the one they have already modeled for the Oblivion gates, so reusing the assets is cheap.
in universe explanation: The veil between Tamriel and that particular plane of Oblivion is thin, the whole Septim bloodline and Amulet of Kings and Drragonfires situation. So going there was the easiest.

weird that Peryite is called the daedric prince of order. is this what they did in lore to try and hide the existence of Jyggalag?
disease pestilence and order, his order is the choas of the natural order an ever shifting bunch of little parts that make up a relatively stable whole its a very dif way to look at it, hes the grimey unpleasant side of mother nature.
jygalag is order through sterilization, a stagnant cold empty order the anthesis of life inflexible and deterministic
Order of the daedra, funnily enough vs meta order of everything like Jyg. Is my understanding.
He's the daedric prince of natural order from how it's described in the lore. He tasks the player with saving his followers from themselves, because in his perspective his followers should remain alive and should continue to be his. Which is probably another reason why his followers can't visit his realm.
Jyggalag is the prince of absolute order, logical and perfect. Colorless and emotionless.

You can cheese up your stats by attacking the Peryite followers. They can’t die and just pop back up after being unconscious. Blade, blunt and marksman will go up the more you attack them each fighting style.

I never really cared about this daedric quest. All I did was use Peryite's followers as punching bags to level and grind my combat skills.

Honestly might be my least favorite daedric quest in Oblivion because it's just an oblivion gate.

not the arachnid strumpet!! lol but goddamn oblivion puts most modern games to shame with creature models doesn't it... i'm always whinging about how uncreative a lot of playable races (at least) are in most games today. imagine being able to be a whole dryder or something with actual digi grade legs in a game outside of WoW
