- The Pico 5 has had a few leaks over the past few weeks, from controllers to three new headsets, the Pico 5, the Pico 5 pro and the Pico 5 pro max. Now the launch of the quest 3 is upon us these new Pico 5 leaks are very conveniently timed. and based on the specs of the Pico 5, the Pico 5 pro and the Pico 5 max they will give the quest 3 a run for its money with features I've never seen from a VR headset before especially at the proposed price.

I am very excited for the future of VR. I have used the Quest 2 daily for the last 2 years, and I can't wait for an upgrade. To imagine where we will be in 5years, its amazing.
Maybe Ready Player One 🤞
Out of all the devices I had tried, nothing is even close to Quest 2 even though is not the highest spec around but the price is extremely a steal. It is even comparable when I was a child trying out my first ever gaming console which is the Nes
Let's fucking goooo
@@toututu2993 What do you and the original comment think about the quest 3? Do you think its worth the increased price for the spec increase? Im looking for something to use for the next couple of years while VR advances
@@desensitized I can imagine Quest 3 is gonna be something that is worth more than $500 or even $600 given that is an improvement from Quest 2 in everywhere. But if you want the best performance in PCVR where there is no latency. I suggest avoid it at all cost
Pico is a poor man's headset imo. The Meta Quest's are better optimised in every way.
You can get a Huawei phone with better specs, but we all know the iphone is the peace of art.
I'm sticking with an American company just in case something goes wrong I can get taken care of with warranties, etc. The Quest 3 has all of the features I need.
Horrible resolution and contrast on the Quest 3
@@sephiroth4543quest 3 is the same specs as quest 2 that’s why
@alexhein1738 I am interested in the Pico 5, BigScreen headsets. I don't understand why meta can't put a 2500x2500 res display and even charge a bit more and call it plus etc. I am very disappointed in the Pimax Crystal though, I waited a long time and when they offered me the link to buy I refused. It has great display, optics and contrast but the huge issue is the horrible weight, build quality and software issues. I want to have Crystal like features with miniled in a compact body that weights sub 500g.
The thing that excites me about the Quest 3 is the external stuff like AR but I wish they had high res miniled.
The Apple Vision Pro has everything I need BUT it's pretty heavy and it will likely not work with any PC games or VR games.
All headets have an issue, they need to release the jack of all trades. I think next year is going to be very exciting in the VR industry.
@@alexhein1738 No it isnt... upgraded processor, pancake lenses, more ram, different panel just to name a few.
I’m sticking with an American company so the thing doesn’t blow up in my face on purpose.
I dont know but i tried the Pico 4 and i returned it and decided to wait for the Quest 3. Meta is just miles a head in their software and library.
same here..... the Pico 4 had huge tracking issues when released, I was so disappointed 😞
And also Pico 4 has poor quality, and quality control. Metas headsets are made by Xiaomi and have a high standard.
Same here as I had a permanent white smoky film on the lenses that was driving me crazy so I sent it back for a Quest 2
Sounds like you had a duff one, I have been using my Pico for over a year now and the software has already come on leaps and bounds now and I have not personally had any tracking issues, I get Meta is ahead with the games but they also had to build a library and Pico is catching up.
I found the headset quality to be miles better than the quest for one thing you don't get lumbered with a cheap fabric head strap and it is comfortable to use because the battery is in the back.
I returned the quest 2 and bought a pico 4... Best decision ever. My eyes could never handle a higher resolution than pico 4s.... I had to improvise and hack the pico a little. But i got an unbeatable VR-Headset for 300€...
I have both Pico4 and Quest2 whereas the Pico4 is my main PCVR headset. The Quest is mainly used for fitness (Standalone and PCVR). But seeing the features of the Quest 3, I'm totally hyped for that device and in your video nothing was convincing enough to get a Pico5. But since I'm living in Thailand, it is harder for me to get the Quest than the Pico. However this week for the first time, I saw the Quest2 and the Pico4 being sold in an electronics shop in Hua Hin, the town where I live nearby. That was great.. maybe they're gonna sell the new devices as well. Having them in the shop means that the acceptance is spreading and more people buy VR headsets....

I also had the Quest 2 and I sold it after like 2 months..it was not good, now I have the Pico 4 and its better for sure even tho far from perfect but gives me pretty amazing VR experiences when the content is good, can't wait for Pico 5, its gonna be so crazy if it has FOV of 140 and 4k per eye, its gonna be a dreamlike VR experience where for the first time you actually feel like you are IN the VR world and not looking at it through limiting ski goggles.
@@21EC Well, at the moment I have the Quest3 since a few weeks and I'm very happy with it. The Pico4 is great, but, well, the Quest3 is in nearly every aspect better. The Pico4 headset is from the shape much better than the Quest3. And out of the box it is more comfortable. Now stand alone the Quest 3 looks better and in PCVR it is similar to better. If you only play PCVR then no need to buy a Quest3. Better the Pico4, because in the end it is about half the price (of course, it depens where you live). I don't know what a Pico5 will bring. I can't even imagine anything better than the Quest3 at this moment. I still have my Pico4 and use it too.
Quest 3 / Pro >>>>>> pIcO
Pico 5 pro max is my dream headset.
I don't even need that much of pixel density. The uncompressed display port connection is what makes this for me.
Awesome. I was up to buy a bigscreen beyond but now i will wait for our chinese brothers and sisters to deliver this masterpiece XD
well, matter of taste: pixel density has to be as high so theres never any screendoor effect, other the "its just a game, look at the pixels" sign in my brain is always on. but the market today serves mainly enthusiast willing to spend 2000+ or lower midclas segments. what iam waiting for, is basically a 2023 state valve index 2, as a complete pack with controllers and bay stations, for around 1000 bucks. but if it has no DP port, then i would skip it, not willing to take compressed images
Nothing compares to PC VR headsets. All these new standalone headsets are garbage, if you care about visuals.
after everything ive seen and read, i agree. but the price difference is kinda 3x @@laccess911

Pico pro max sounds incredible, metas insistence on AR being the way to move forward bugs the hell out of me, i want to get more immersed in game worlds and have more real feeling social experiences. I dont want to bring some cartoony characters or other CG elements into my living room, i want to forget im in my living room all together
That's fair enough, I'm just hoping we have options and we don't just have companies copying each other.
@@VirtualChap2024 big facts, but Mets being the leader of the industry right now and Apple coming soon with a seemingly similar MO is concerning to me
Thats why its still VR with the AR option...
@@stuart3712 all I’m saying is that I’d rather have face and eye tracking than color pass through and a depth sensor
Because mixed reality is something that has literally never been possible before, I for one am hopeful that it has more to offer than anybody could guess right now. As stupid as meta is, I think they understand that and they want to be on top of it. I have high hopes for the Quest 3, but I would totally understand going with an alternative that focuses on VR if it existed right now. Unfortunately, that really isn't an option yet so I'm hoping Valve or Pico surprises us very soon
As someone from China, I would trust Meta more than Bytedance with my data. Not saying meta doesn't have its flaws but man, choosing Bytedance over Meta because of data security is just naive and stupid
alot of people blindly go to pico because they think meta will kidnap them or something, fact is, meta steals as much as your data as any other company, they just arent as private with it lol, and trusting a chinese company over an american company in terms of data, theres a clear winner
As someone from China, i would trust Bytedance more with my data than Meta.
Same here. I will never buy a Pico 😂
Exactly 🤝
i would trust no1 but ok.
Oled would be absolutely fantastic in vr for the individual pixel lighting which would bring clarity to a while new standard.
yeah, from feneal lens to pancake lens, and from LCD to OLED, the leap should not be ignored.
I went with the Quest 3. Cant wait to get it
Great choice, looks incredible
dec, 2024 is a long time to wait for that boku no pico 5 max headset that would be ideal for me since i want to do pcvr mainly almost exclusively and with a display port connection. So i'll just enjoy the Q3 for over a year and if it does become worth buying i'll probably sell my Q3 and buy the max.
The pimax Crystal does have similar specs. It is standalone and has a display port but it's not that well refined yet, and is expensive
I feel like Valve will come with a comparable alternative before then as well ;)
China, no thanks. Quest and Oculus have been my headsets forever and i have never been disappointed. The lenses on the Quest 3 are also way clearer than anything on the market.

Most of these headsets still have too low FOV, except Pimax (unavailable in my area). I managed to mod the Valve Index to almost 120 FOV, but it still feels limited. If they manage to push these headsets over 120 and STILL keep the general specs, I'm ALL in. Clarity is good and all, but the FOV ruins the experience for me. Tired of looking through binoculars.
Meta has a huge advantage on pico on the software side of things. But pico can turn the tables with one move, by offering a microoled version of the pico5. I was hoping the pro max would be that, but it isnt. Just offer a pico5 OLED variant and charge 1000-1500, and youll still have lots of people ditching the quest 3 to get that pico5 version.
I don't. Are a out software if the resolution is still rubbish and more importantly the black levels are poor on the Meta
I don't know why people continue to parrot the claim that Pico has no software. That was true maybe 6 to 12 months ago. Aside from a few exclusives, Pico now has all of the games worth playing that are available on Quest. In addition, it can run any other android app.
@@Kevin_Reems well quest 2 can also run Android apps. I would genuinely like to know if there are any android apps that pico can run which quest 2 can't. And those "handful" of exclusives are some of the best in standalone vr, like re4 and beatsaber. I personally don't care much about beatsaber but re4 is a big deal. So it's fair to say quest has a software advantage over pico still. I doubt that will change with pico5 vs quest 3. Don't get me wrong I'd love it if pico beats quest and would love to support pico5 if they offer similar value. We'll see when pico 5 comes out. If pico 5 offered an oled version or even a local dimming version, picking it over the quest 3 would have been a no brainer for me.
I think the reason they favour LCD over oled might be because it's cheaper to get a higher ppi or something to do with the refresh rate 🤔 but I could be wrong
@@VirtualChap2024 LCD is MUCH cheaper and the average consumer isn't going to care either about "black levels" or color. Also people have heard of Meta and are more inclined in purchasing something from them so those specs dont seem to matter as much.

And it's Chinese, no thanks. One day they will be banned from Europe/USA.
They are not trying to be competitive, they are just copying the Meta (software, hardware) period . This is the main reason they will never sell in America. We have rules, patents, copyrights, the Chinese are good at reproducing copies. In America they would get sued.

The Quest 3 simply looks 10 times more beautiful and feels more premium to me
The problem with Pico is that their quality is bad, and their software too. I had a Pico 4 and it didn't even track properly, not sure if because of software or maybe even a hardware issue, but my whole VR room was spinning around it's own axis all the time, it made me dizzy.
Pico 4 is more than enough for me, 3080 GPU is still the bottleneck for this headset.

I have the pico 4 and it's awesome. I can get the quest 3, but the Pico 4 can most likely hold me off until the Pico Max Pro or maybe we will see what Apple VR is all about...
People that only read paper specs and instantly decide what is a better product usually fail to realize the what actually is a better product when in the real world. Also, simple numbers alone don't tell the whole story. For example, the Pico 4 had newer screens and pancake lenses, but real world users said those screens lacked color compared to the Quest 2 and the pancake lenses suffered from distortion. Also, the Pico 4 Enterprise listed face and eye tracking, but the face tracking was only a single lower face camera while the Quest Pro has two lower face cameras and an upper face camera. The Pico 5 Pro MAX's resolution (if true) will only be for wired PCVR as the XR2 Gen 2 isn't going to be able to push those pixels in standalone mode or really with encoded/decoded wireless PCVR. I'm happy to see competition in the VR space and I'm curious to see what Valve releases real soon. I just hope some people are more grounded in reality when it comes to comparisons. The whole "Quest Killer" clickbait articles and videos when the Pico 4 was announced was just childish IMO.
I have a Quest Pro and a Pico 4 and I find myself using the Pico far more despite being a lesser headset because its lighter and far more plug and play.

@@MaggieLiu-l9r I have the quest pro and find it to be great in terms of performance and comfort Only wish is that FOV improves on all these headsets coming in 2024. I would rather have screen-door effect with better FOV than high res with black borders in my periphery.

The cold hard truth
I own a Quest 2 and a Pico 4.
Have not touched the Quest 2 since purchasing my Pico 4 and the reasons are clear.
PC users want a headset with amazing quality and built in tracking. I use my Pico 4 with Virtual Desktop.
I want a display port connection to my PC on future headset and that is all that is missing from the Pico 4.
Pico 5 pro Max will be a dream headset for PCVR users.
Quest 3 has 3 good things in my opinion
1, A great library of games
2, AR
3, Xbox library
This makes it the best standalone headset for casual gamers.
Everything else about it is cheap, they cut just about every cost they could and the end results are clear.
Manual IPD,
Resolution that doesn't even match the Pico 4
nasty head strap
tracking issues (Not the data tracking that also comes with every Meta product) ;)
18 Watt power supply
Now even my Pico 4 has a proper adjustable headstrap with a comfortable interface and IPD adjusted by motors, and this is an old headset.
All I care about is FOV honestly.
Yeah it's a real shame it doesn't seem to be increasing with each generation :/ hopefully Pico can change this 🤞
@@VirtualChap2024 VR performance is still pretty heavy. And the screens are still a very expensive part of the products. Meta calls it Mixed Reality in their media so it’s probably their fault
@@mrlloyd149 true, it only became a problem when they launched Quest pro and started calling it mixed reality.
Augmented reality only applies to headsets like the HoloLens with clear displays. Mixed reality achieves a similar result through pass-through “mixing” the augmentation of reality with the same hardware VR uses. A mixed reality headset can do both, it’s not locked down to only one method due to hardware limitations

My pico has never been laggy except for particle overloads sooo
We haven’t even got to this big thing (VR). I mean we are just now seeing VR for the first time as a viable business. I say that because I’m an 80s kid and have seen the VR industry more then once in my life and it failed. So why don’t we focus on that just VR and making it the best viable option instead of trying to force AR when we all know AR just ain’t ready and won’t be ever if at all or at least not in my life time. If pico was smart they could save money with the pico 5, 5 pro and max and just focus on VR ONLY and forget AR. That would also make their VR headset cheaper maybe even $350, $499, $650. Instead of $1000 for the 5 max. These price are achievable especially if the drop the ppi of the eye resolution of the higher headsets.
These “leaks” we also see in the car industry and other places. They are designed to make users wait for the competitors product (Pico 5) instead of buying the new model like the Quest 3. It is very common. Why spend your money now when someone else has a better product in half a year for the same price.
I got a Quest 3 and loving it. But i will likely also get the Pico 5 Pro Max more so for PCVR
Tbh those specs for the pico 5 Pro Max are truly unbelievable, but i can't imagine it costing 1100 dollars. But those specs are a goddam steal
Wonder how it takes with apple vision pro
That's not a coincidence, they are obviously coming meta
Once quest 3 got designed in house and published to manufacture I am sure pico was there to nab up something
Controllers are definitely not a coincidence. Not have the tracking rings is the “industry standard” now. They’d look left behind if they had them.
DisplayPort is the main selling point for me
It would he sick. Utilize all of your GPU efficiently and hopefully we get more AAA title games that we can completely immerse ourselves into.
The lack of a direct display port makes the pico 5 and pico 5 Pro a hard sell for me. That should be too expensive to add to the more affordable lower models.
"But much like rhe Pico 4 this would only be a slight upwgrade" slight upwgrade ? certainly not, where to start...
- pico 4 has a better headstrap: elite like, more balanced, battry in the back, magnetic removable facial system.
- pancake lenses: better picture and the sweepot is much larger.
- Thinner and cooler, due to batery in the back (en pancake), so it comes clocked higher out of the box.
- manual IPD (even motorized) instead of one pannel in the quest 2
- Color pass-tru camera.
- higher resolution. 2160*2160 compared to 1832*1920 (and a part is lost due to software ipd)
- better support for external hardware: storage, network, usb-c hubs, USB3, Displayport out.
with a hub you can hook it up to monitor, keyboard mouse and ethernet
be nice if these guys would update this. PICO 5 is not coming they stopped it
That seems interesting but I don't want to wait that long for an average user
Looks like I have to get the quest 3 and then sell it and get the pico 5 pro later
I got to try out the pico 4 once, and was immediately disappointed by how the 90hz panels are straining my eyes. It is not really the panel refresh rate problem, but more of the flashing LCD backlight to reduce apparent ghosting. I tried the Quest 2, and its 120hz backlight don’t strain my eyes out at all, and ended up purchasing a Quest 3. I just hope that pico will bump the refresh rate of their next headset up or just use OLED, so that the effect of flashing lights is less pronounced
Same problem Bought an orange coloured lighting just to fix it
Some Chinese employee at Meta must be leaking all of the design and engineering details to Pico. How can they continue to be so similar generation after generation?!
I think the biggest problem that faces AR/MR is the apps, this tech does not possess the killer app yet , and i think apple Mabey change this because it mixed whole its operating systems in visions pro os and i thing Pico or meta must use windows or simply they must make HoloLens cheaper
you can choose between mark and xi.
the two buttons on the left side of the controller is the most baffling configuration for VR. They need to put the buttons on the right
I don't wanna be a party pooper but in the datamining Discord we have someone who works with Pico and has done drivers for them who says the leak is 100% false.
the day we have stuff as lightweight as glasses and possibly see through with 4k+ per eye and eye tracking shit is gonna be wild.
we already have transparent displays and the optic tech too so it could be doable.
Im going to get a pico 5 pro. I dont want to wait for pico pro max

Well this video did not age well
tbh, the Pico 5 does sound amazing and it could be a good opponent for Quest 3, but the main problem is the lack of games, and the location where they can and cant sell, dude, the quest 2 and 3 has the biggest library of games, a lot of free games, a lot of popular paid games, the pico lacks a lot in that, and i think the biggest problem is actually that they cant sell the headset in America, for everyone to understand, if a developer will launch their VR game everywhere(steam and other headsets) but not quest, their game will fail in sales, the same is with pico not getting sold in America, if am not wrong, the Pico 4 lacked in sales and it did not meet the expectation of sales, for me it was easy to buy a Pico 4 cuz i live in Eastern Europe, and it was sold in every tech shop, but Americans either have to risk ordering from Aliexpress or from another site, something that takes a lot of time and nerves if the product will arrive or not. In the end their main fix could be releasing the Headset in America, for people to buy the headset more easily, and this will cause the headset to have more developers and more games. For now, the best decision if people want to play standalone is to buy the quest 3, if they want to play PCVR, quest 3 is still the best option.
If it's releasing at the end of next year at ~$1k, I might as well get a Quest 3 now and enjoy clearer wireless VR sooner.
Comparing the pico 5 pro max to the quest 3 is not intelligent. It’s more comparable to the quest pro. The pico 5 is releasing 4 months into 2024, and it is more comparable.
This was a great video, thank you! My first time watching your channel, but I'm an O.G. VR fan (DK1 -> DK2 -> Quest 1 -> Quest 2-> Reverb G2-> Pico 4), but love your thoughts. I think (think) that with those insane specs for the Pro Max can be propped up with A.I. frame generation, upscaling, and foveated rendering. I don't know for sure, but the way the technology is going, it seems like something like that could be possible without running a H100 workstation 😆. I'm sure Pico has been talking to all the interested parties about their roadmaps for tech and either a 4090 or 4080 or 50xx series card could push a great experience at that. Remains to be seen! *I only play PCVR aside from Beat Saber, so can't comment on standalone :)
DLSS 3 FrameGen is pretty non-ideal for VR for various reasons. First off, it's incompatible. VR displays have fixed refresh rates, and (well-optimized) VR games already try to keep frame rates as close to the refresh rate as possible. Those refresh rates are also usually pretty low, at 72, 80, and 90Hz. DLSS 3 FrameGen, on the other hand, only functions as intended at 120Hz+ on displays that support variable refresh rates. Even if any VR displays covered those requirements, it would still not be particularly good. Due to the inherent nature of how frame generation works, you'll have a higher latency with it turned on than you'd have with it turned off. And by "higher latency" I really do mean higher latency. Assuming FrameGen provides a 2x performance increase, at 120fps you'll have the same latency as you would at 50-60 fps. I assume you know how important low latencare not only for immersion in VR, but for preventing motion sickness.
AI upscaling would be really nice to have in VR gaming, though. With VR becoming increasingly high-res, you could turn 72 fps into 90 fps with pretty much no discernible loss to image quality. And you'd get those nice and low latencies. And seeing how all Pico 5 models will allegedly feature eye tracking, maybe they could do foveated rendering in PCVR. That would just be groundbreaking.
I'm PCVR user and since i get my Pico 4, my Quest 2 is collecting dust
THAT pixel density is more likely to be usable with DFR -which I suspect is where Pimax 12K will end up - until we have next gen or next gen +2 headsets that pixel density will be the challenge for smooth gameplay.
Oh cmon, I was hoping for a real value headset, not 500 dollars!
I’m glad standalone VR got so much attention because as much as PC supremacists will cry and scream standalone VR is the future. At some point we won’t need PCs anymore to run high res games at reasonable FPS.
If pico 5 came with disolay port i would choose that, however am gonna go with the Quest 3
If thats the case the Pico 5 pro max should be on your preorder list.
Pico pro max seems like it's Apple vr priced tho
I think I will be waiting for the Pico, I intend to Primarily use the Headset for PC Gaming (Space & Flight Sims).
I prefer getting my data sold to an american company instead of a chinese one so I will stick with meta for now.
hardware dont mean anything if content aint there. content is king. for eye tracking tell me something other than vrchat that really makes use of it
Foveated rendering is important in running high end PCVR games. Eye tracking is a really necessary function on a high end PCVR headset.
uhm, basically everything on PCVR?
@@aj2228 definitely not
Pico 4 software is fine since 2 years now (how its feels and what the users say)
Lets be real here - the real winner will be the headset that can have access to all software at an affordable price point. This means a headset that can run both PCVR and MobileVR. Because this device would allow the best of both worlds + software. Thats all real VR users want at the end of the day. Software is king and what you have access to will be what truly make you number one. With that said, there are way to make that happen such as supporting the ability to have a real "connection" back to the PC either what is with over wifi or still require a cable. Why it might not fit everyone's needs - it still gives the widest options for the end user to have and that wiill be what really sells headsets almost at any price. Personally I am picking up Quest 3 - because it does offer a good middle ground with the current headsets out on the market (as the time of writing this P5 Pro Max doesnt exist yet). Once it does, I more than likely going to be looking at picking one up as it again would offer the best of both worlds with a Gen2x2 SoC + DP link would pretty much set me on its use. Unless Meta does the same - I think they might start loosing some customers in the future with Quest Pro 2 offerings (if they release it in a matter that makes sense). From there, BD, just needs to focus on price / getting that device down in cost. So for them it wouldnt be a race to the bottom, but a race to get the best technology out with improvements with an already setup base. Something I feel like Meta miss. I think Quest 3 is showing them that they might have made a mistake with pricing trying to race to the bottom barrel of price to hardware.
Do you know if one can move all of their games to Pico 5 via their Facebook account as I can with going from Quest 1 to 2 or 2 to 3? This is the difference of hundreds of dollars.
sadly without standalone vrchat support for pico ecosystem, im not even considering this device. but once vrchat is supported will definitely get this one
Its coming out soon on the pico store, already announced!
yessss, thank you for the notice my friend. now pico is high up there to buy@@Dav95id
I only use PCVR so direct didplay port would be fab
With more powerful chip maybe I’d also use in stand alone mode though if any good software , I only really use MSFS , arma3 , ams2
If it’s not available in Amazon US I’m not interested. I don’t want to import it
Damn the pico is really ripping off the quest 3 rn the controllers
The Pico 5 only sounds interesting if you are a PCVR gamer. The display resolution is way too high for the XR2 Gen 2 chip to render proper geaphics. You will get an upscaled blurry mess in standalone.
Using the Quest 2 for now and have to say that I really enjoy it, im conflicted right now though, do I wait for the Pico 5 Pro for face/eye tracking or do I just get the Quest 3 now.... I think I will wait.
I pre ordered the quest 3 already im hyped
I would've gone all the way with Oculus if it wasn't for the fact their Oculus Desktop app is so unbearably shitty and buggy. Especially with a Link cable.
I find or encounter bugs that hinder my experience every time I try the damn thing. To this day, the Oculus desktop app is the only software I've ever encountered that I can *expect* to find new bugs every month that I didn't even think were possible.
I'm not alone in this either. Everyone I know has this issue. Both on the OG Quest and Quest 2.
Can u tell me about what's some of the issues?bcauseI'm gonna getting the quest 2
@blyankyb9433 if you do PC VR get a Pico 4
Just looking for a PC VR, don't care about standalone gaming.
Just started looking into the Pico range, would love tetherless pcvr with usable passthrough, and standalone media use. Comparing Quest3 and Pico4, once you add on the elite battery strap, Pico4 is half the price, and half the weight, both far more important than standalone performance for me. Would absolutely luuve eye and face tracking tho, so Pico5pro would be worth paying a little extra for. And at the projected price, the Max would be my dream machine, if they manage to keep the weight down around 300g.
Pico is literally Meta's bootleg headset
Also eye-tracking based dynamic foveated rendering only has truly SIGNIFICANT performance increases on powerful tethered machines like PC's or game consoles where you have an excess of CPU performance but need more GPU umph, while having no strict power budget.
On standalone though, DFR only gives a performance gain of about ≈+20% due to limited CPU resources and power budget. On standalone, it's REALLY not the game changer you think it. John Carmack actually talked a lot about just this specific topic. You're not going to be even REMOTELY FUCKING CLOSE to getting a doubling of fps using DFR on a standalone headset.
Dynamic Foveated Rendering will make it 3 x the power of the quest 2 but none of that matters if the screen is grey as shit like the pico 4's was.
Should i wait for the pico 5 or just buy the quest 3? I need to know i wont get a vr headset for years after spending the 800 dollars on a headset (norwegian kroners is like 0.13 dollars) so should i wait or just buy this christmas
At the price of privacy, literally
one thing that baffles me is we never seen any review about the pico 4 pro if the eye tracking or the face tracking works whats the point on making a new headset if you dont show proof of your previous headsets
Probably because the pro model was never sold to the western markets, the firmware was in Chinese. So not many westerners bought it.
@@Nobody-Nowhere ive seen countless post on aliexpres on it thou
And now they announced they are canceling pico 5 to work on a headset to compete with apple's 🥺
im probably still going to roll with the quest 3. PICO has too close of a tie to bytedance
there is no pico 5 coming
well i have pico 4 and i am apsolute pleased with that. I wont do any upgrade!
Again, how good do the competition to us the consumers!
Pico is Samsung to Meta’s Apple
I'll try the quest 3 and think either way the games will win the battle but I do normally use my headsets for steam games so will wait and see what happens with the pico 5/pro. I have the pico4 atm and previously had the hp reverb g2 and before that the quest2. I'm very impressed with the pico 4 tbh but wanted the AR and meta store
how is that pico4 compared to reverb g2? I also had reverb g2 and looking to get an upgrade. I want to stay in the same price range but have better picture quality and no cables hanging around my head
@@VoltomessI wouldn’t say the picture quality was massively better but the lenses were better. The pico4 is very similar to the quest 3 also, I can’t believe how cheap it is in comparison to other headsets.
I didn’t go straight from the reverb g2 to the pico4, so this is just from memory. I don’t think the pico 4 is that much better than the g2, but it is a little imo. However I’ve always felt the reverb g2 was the easiest headset on my eyes
Uh oh, VR race?
I pre ordered the quest 3 in 512 gigabytes and it is gonna be sick
Gonna be a good choice no matter what. Gotta enjoy the VR world in these times
