  • The first port of call on our Norwegian Prima cruise was Roatan, Honduras. The weather wasn’t ideal, but we ventured outside the port area to collect some essentials before exploring the ship, finding out where you can find books glued together on this ship, taking in a comedy show, and trying a restaurant we’ve wanted to check out for a while. The fun doesn’t stop early on this ship, and nor does the entertainment, as we found ourselves in the atrium after hours.

    Harvest Cay is run by Belize locals so all food and drink costs you. Unlike Great Stirrup Cay where it is NCL food and drink. Food is complimentary at Great Stirrup Cay, Drinks are covered by your drink pkgs at Great Stirrup Cay, but not at Harvest Cay .

    Hey Billy & Larissa. I really like the Vlog format for these during-the-cruise updates much better than a written format.
    Also, we're going to be in Roatan for only the second time in a couple moths. Hope we have better weather than you did as we are planning a beach day!
    Happy Thanksgiving at sea!

    Hey Bill , Great video I never been to Rotan and wonder if the port is worth visiting . Is there a lot to do there other than shop? Your videos are awesome for us cruzers that only can go once or twice a year so thanks for the info to you and your wife . Your website is like handbook for Info and what to avoid and what to do. Thanks, Bruce P.S. I have been following you since Periscope and I miss Periscope. lol

      There are quite a few excursion options for beach days, outdoor activities, and animal excursions (like sloths), though we avoid the latter. The town outside of the port area isn't very tourist friendly (though perfectly safe), so planned tours are the way to go here. It's a beautiful area.

    I have never taken a cruise before and will be booking in April 2023 on NCL Prima i was interested to now when you book a cruise is all the food, stateroom etc included in the price of the cruise ? I do not drink so no worries addressing that, and i understand internet is extra, trying to wrap my head around what is included in the advertised price thanks..

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  Год назад

      This varies depending on cruise line and fare type. NCL often bundles drink packages, specialty dining credits and other perks - but it depends on what promos are running and what you ultimately book.
      The best advise I can give is to use a good travel agent, as they can make sure you know what you're getting before pulling the trigger and ensure the decision your making on the fare type makes the most sense for you.
      I have a bit of an explanation at the link below, but ultimately it can be confusing, and a good agent is worth their weight in gold - a benefit you'll not pay extra for.

    I’m here for the antibiotics story…

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  Год назад +1

      We dropped the ball here, as I *really* thought I had a post or video about it - but not so much. We were filming on a beach in Roatan several years ago with a drone. All was well, it was a great day, etc. Went up again, and something went wrong where the drone just started descending toward the ocean. I managed to get it to crash land on the beach, away from people (first priority). Still, it startled a little kid, so I ran over to pick it up as quickly as possible...not realizing the rotors were still turning. I cut a sliver of the tip of my finger off...on the beach (lots of bacteria in sand). Fortunately, that friendly little tourist pharmacy sold me some doxycycline for $6USD. Fun times!
      A week later, boarding another ship, a couple stopped me at Port Everglades and asked me if I was on the week previous filming with a drone. It was their granddaughter I scared 😬. I was prepared to be yelled at but they said they saw what happened and realized it wasn't my fault, while I stood there with my hand still bandaged.

      @@CruiseHabit What a small world that they saw you again! And glad they weren't mad. Poor kid, poor finger. But a good story.

      So you feel the antibiotic was real,? I am so leary of pharmacies in foreign ports if they are legit, I've read things both ways.

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  Год назад

      @@2cute1230 While I understand the skepticism of the touristy places right next to the port, there is no business advantage to selling fake doxycycline. It's wildly inexpensive to start with. Of course there are plenty of non-touristy pharmacies in these town (often times in grocery stores), which have a larger selection in the event you forget something essential on your trip.
