I grew up in Houston, started listening to Travis in 2012. He is a hometown hero and my favorite artist. Things he references in his lyrics make no sense to anyone who’s not from Houston. He’s someone who I connect with lyrically because he describes places/things/people who we know and love. Absolutely loved this video as always, and it was so cool to see your Dad enjoying it.

YES Coffee Bean 🫘 so slept on, absolutely wraps up the album in a spoken comedown... Like the Lights and glammer have dimmed. The rush is over. Just his sobering reality Favorites are RIP, Astrothunder, Coffee Bean
Kevin doesn’t realize how lucky he is to listen to this masterpiece for the first time. I wish I could bless my ears with a first listen to astroworld again.
I love that this album sounds like a theme park from start to end, and it progresses like how you would in a theme park, starting off excited, hyped and then after a few tracks/rides you rest for awhile and that's where the slow tracks come in. and then you get back to the rides and have some more fun. at the end, coffee bean sounds like you're in a car, going home from a very fun day at the theme park. listening to Travis is all about the vibes, you don't listen to Travis for the lyrics, you listen to his production and flow, you listen to him to get hyped or to chill on the bed and that's what makes this one of my favorite albums!

What an album, unforgettable songs, the features and instrumentals/voices are just beautiful I usually don't like few songs from an album but i can listen to this one on repeat
@44:59....The rant Kevin goes on here is so beautiful. Its a true display of someone beginning to appreciate something new. This kind of conversation is so niche. I feel conversations about music, and diving into your true feelings sonically are so fun. Dissecting the artist's intention and the genre's influences. Or just breaking down what ACTUALLY draws you in. I love it. I'm here for it. And I ain't going anywhere. Keep it up fellas. Edit: Also, when Kevin says "I feel it."....that's how you know you've passed the point of no return. You will forever search for that feeling listening to Hip Hop from now on.
Man, this just takes me down memory lane cause I know it was only back in 2018 but after covid, it just feel like a different era. Still remember my first listen to this album and that summer was so so amazing WOW! 57:47 minutes of best entertaining, this is by far my favorite channel, thank u so much Conner and Kevin, much love!
What's so fantastic about Travis' production, and this may seem obvious to actual audio engineers, is his ability to lay a really solid and wide foundation with the lower end sounds, which opens up space for all the other more hi end shrill or strange sounds as well as the vocals which results in nothing sounding out of place. Everything he makes feels like it fits together because he sculpts it to fit together.

The beeeeest???? I don't know about that, but I enjoy Drake's rapping for sure. He's definitely outclassed by most people in his class as far as skill, but nobody has made hits like him.
@@six7264 Yeah I agree, when it comes to straight rap skill he’s a mid tier rapper at best. I will say his music quality over the years has declined a little but his consistency and “instagram caption rap” game is undefeated. I think that’s what makes him so like-able. Not the best pure rapper but certainly one of the best artists.
Rodeo has 90210 and some other modern classics, BITTSM is seriously underrated but Astroworld still blows me away and it’s an album I listen to quite a lot, my favourite track has changed so many times and I really think this album is near perfect

Screw the Grammys, y'all should be the ones figuring out who wins what. It's a Travesty (no-pun intended) that Travis lost to Cardi B. The effort he put into this album is on another level that most artists can't relate too. The knowledge of the instruments and sounds that you and your dad describe is something that is special since most of those things are overlooked by many people who listen to albums. Great review with fantastic dialogue and chemistry between you two. Well Done.
Astrothunder is the best song on the album imo. There are other really good ones but I feel Astrothunder truly puts you on another planet. Truly underrated.
I like butterfly effect the most. Then stargazing, Astrothunder, sicko mode and stop trying to be God as top 5. Hon mentions Houstoniforcation and can't say
hear me out, but sicko mode. The perfect drake feature, the amazing switch-up after the beautiful instrumentation in the beginning into one of the most hard hitting 808s on a beat I’ve ever heard that Travis absolutely murders, some short gorgeous Swae Lee vocals, then another switch into a dark minimalistic Tay Keith beat with Drake going absolutely insane. Without the memes and dismissal it’s a 10/10 song and changed the game forever
love you guys’ reactions so much. you gotta take your father down a journey through The Weeknd’s discography. would love to see his reaction to Trilogy.
After watching the reaction to Rodeo, I had to see this man’s reaction to Astroworld specifically Stargazing…one of the most amazing psychedelic and rage heavy songs of Travi’s discography 🔥 my man still got the head bobbing going. Fuck with y’all man. Keep doing ya thing ✊🏾

Everything about it from the intro to the hidden features to the instrumentals are on a level that perfectly combines radio hits and musical masterpieces. thank you so much, this video has made my day.

Just his sobering reality
Favorites are RIP, Astrothunder, Coffee Bean
Yes the top 3 instrumentals on this album it’s not even a question
Kevin doesn’t realize how lucky he is to listen to this masterpiece for the first time. I wish I could bless my ears with a first listen to astroworld again.
This album definitely lived up to the massive hype it had leading up to its release imo

What an album, unforgettable songs, the features and instrumentals/voices are just beautiful
I usually don't like few songs from an album but i can listen to this one on repeat

Coffee Bean is easily the most underrated song in this album

What's so fantastic about Travis' production, and this may seem obvious to actual audio engineers, is his ability to lay a really solid and wide foundation with the lower end sounds, which opens up space for all the other more hi end shrill or strange sounds as well as the vocals which results in nothing sounding out of place. Everything he makes feels like it fits together because he sculpts it to fit together.

Screw the Grammys, y'all should be the ones figuring out who wins what. It's a Travesty (no-pun intended) that Travis lost to Cardi B.
