That one phrase, " it's not about hitting the center of the target but executing the shot" that has helped me more than anything else I have ever heard. I repeat that in my brain as I'm pulling through my shot. It instantly changed my shot process for the better and made me more consistent.

because of joel i have not shot an uncontrolled arrow in 7 yrs..shooting 300's became actually easy..very high x counts and numerous perfect scores also..so i started to shoot a 5 spot at 30 yrds and then 40 yrds to keep testing myself..i shot target archery since i was 15 and am proud to say i shot several 300 games on blue face single spot with fingers and won my state championship one year also...looking at a bullseye target started to burn me out so i wen into 3d shooting which i enjoy but still shoot a vegas face and 5 spots from time to time..walking in the woods knowing you will kill anything that walks within your comfortable shooting range is the most powerful thing to experience as a hunter ever! i really feel sorry for guys who will never get to feel what thats like

As a master archer that he is it seems like he's taken the art back to the fundamentals. It seems like he's basically teaching everyone to go back to the time you first shot a bow...especially with a release....I was aiming dead center at the 🎯 with my pin and out of the blue the arrow let out and hit dead center

Awesome video. I purchased Joel online coarse several years ago and it helped me tremendously with my target panic however I still occasionally fall back into my old habits. This video helped me understand why and what I need to do mentally on every shot to remain focused on the job at hand. Thank you!

Great episode. I shoot a thumb release and always thought about this general idea of pulling my hand back with keeping my thumb set to not punch but couldn't quite figure out how to consistently do it. This nailed it.

After watching this video I have realized what I thought was squeezing the trigger for the last 15 years was in fact not squeezing the trigger at all. I got out of bed at 11:45pm and went and shot. Determined to teach myself this new process. Great video!

This makes a lot of sense and it was actually taught to me about 7 years ago. My question that I struggle with is how can this translate to a hunting situation where you dont have the time to take 30 seconds? Am I missing the true point here? I get the concept of target panic and certainly have not mastered it, but have made large strides. This cant work when its "now or never", buck of a lifetime, .5 seconds and hes gone. Im ripping one off baby! Help!!!

Seems to me, in certain situations, major temperature swings- this hand stretching thing is going to introduce inconsistencies if its really cold, long johns, and the wrist strap MUST BE exactly the same EVERY TIME. IF it stretches, the release will be triggered earlier. What does Joel say about this??
