    When ARR said "even if he (Mani Sir) decides not to use me, I will still be praying for him because I am just so in awe of him", damn I shed a few tears there!!! Greatest example of Guru Bhakti and such deep love for someone who gave you life!! I wish I can be like that to the people who've done good things for me.

    OMG what did I witness today. This is a blissful eye feast for Mani sir and AR Rahman sir’s fans. I’m sure this would be an iconic interview for my lifetime because these both legends are interviewed by Baddy sir who’s an epitome of interviewing.
    Thank you so much Galatta plus for bringing such a great legends together and interviewing the GOATS. Thanks to baddy sir for making this happen because baddy sir interviewed both separately but this time it’s both together in one frame. And finally thanks a billion Mani sir for bestowing us with great films and thanks a billion AR Rahman sir for bestowing us with your great music, tunes and compositions.
    To me Mani sir and AR Rahman sir’s combo is the best in the entire Indian Film industry. There is no replacement for this magical duo.
    A slave of these both people from Andhra Pradesh.
    Truly speaking I’m in love with Tamil movies especially Mani sir’s movies more than Telugu movies and I do listen to AR Rahman sir’s music more than Telugu songs. Mani sir and AR Rahman sir stolen my heart. Literally I can’t get over these both amazing people in my life at any cost. These people have my whole heart. Thank you so much Mani sir for introducing a gem of a person AR Rahman sir into movie industry. You’re ARR sir’s Guru and Mani sir you’re the guru for lot of budding directors in various industries. Truly I feel elated to have been living this era so that I’m able to witness Mani sir movies and ARR sir’s compositions.

      FUNNY! Mani Ratnam came to IR in 1982; wanted ONLY ILAYARAJA to compose for his first movie Pallavi Anupallavi in Kannada. The album is an EVERGREEN superhit whose songs are popular even today across various platforms. IR was MAGNANIMOUS enough to compose for just 20% of his remuneration when MR said he could not afford. His second movie UNARU was composed at FREE of cost by IR! The popularity, soul, layering, complexity, intricacy and variety of MR's first 10 movies' music (albums) with IR is GREATER than all the 15+ albums with Arr! When people think MR as a "great" director, it is because of Naayagan, Thalapathi and Anjali. His post-1991 movies are pure and expensive fluff, with high aesthetics: fair-skinned cast, stylish costumes, lavish sets, good cinematography, frame composition, and little-to-very little content. Roja happened because IR refused to compose for KB who messed Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal background score. After that, MR with a now-bloated ego and ungratefulness was not ready to go back to IR.

    • @cachegrk
      @cachegrk Год назад +2

      In a creative field there is nothing called loyalty. MR is working with whomever he feels comfortable. Pre Roja was great but Roja or after is no way inferior and in fact took MR films to national stage. You are fed with a narrative that only IR is a composer and rest of them are programmers, IR is all live instruments and ARR is a computer generated one and so on..

    • @BC999
      @BC999 Год назад +2

      @@cachegrk Roja went "national" because it was tirelessly PROMOTED heavily by KB as "patriotic" movie "against terrorism" - promos were as much or more than the scale of Baahubali in today's context. From 1991, there was a BOOM in the Cassette industry! CABLE TV era with Song Countdown programs ALSO gave Roja enough limelight. It was popular also because of the NEW SOUNDSCAPE that Arr provided. Even at his so-called 'peak', Arr was NOT ABLE to handle more than 5 movies per year (even in his own words)! That would explain why he still has not crossed 175+ movies after 3 decades in his self-"proLOONNGGED" career!! Arr in 2013 BBC interview threw all his predecessors under the bus talking as if he "changed" the music scene eliminating the Tabla dholak flute music! SO MUCH for "humility"! His right hand Srinivasa Murthy stated without blinking an eye that Arr was the one who gave importance to "live orchestra". Between the both, they should have at least taken a stand!

    • @BC999
      @BC999 Год назад +1

      @@cachegrk Roja "was made to become" popular because of the fragile state of the nation owing to a rise in terrorist activities up North from 1989. SYMPATHY WAVE. And the dumb audience lapped it up just like the latter movies Bombay and Dil Se which came AFTER the blasts in 1993. MR's high-aesthetics: good-looking fair-skinned cast, good cinematography, choice of technicians, attractive packaging, negative promotions, good music with excellent sounds (does NOT mean "the best music in the country"), shallow and short dialogues, stylish costumes, expensive sets - art direction etc. HELPED his movies thereby helping Arr gain his foothold, after which it was Arr's PR skills and network / connections that took the latter this far.

    • @cachegrk
      @cachegrk Год назад +1

      ARR chose quality over quantity. Of course IR is a genius in a different league. Roja became famous because of ARRs work. Even if not, he again and again repeated success in Hindi film industry which none of the South Indian composers cracked even now. If IR’s strength is number of films, ARR had different set of strengths which no other musicians even came close. IR never allowed other musicians to grow and flourish. A director once chose other music director or even dared will never be allowed inside Prasad studio.

This is the best thing to take from him as a life lesson. Hail ARR💯

    • @BC999

      Maestro ILAYARAJA composed for as much as 1000+ movies, 7000+ compositions, working hard in his 47th year of career, even at 80+ age, giving an album in 2023 that EASILY OVERTOOK Pathu thala, PS-1 and PS-2 combined - all WITHOUT any hype, hoopla, the crutches of so-called "critics" and social media. For more than 20 years, the same person composed anywhere between 40-60 MOVIES PER YEAR, working from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m., 5-6 days a week. There is NO remedy for ignorance!

      Jumping into ARR interviews to just vomit your notions. Just shows out the childishness in so called IR fans like you.
      It takes basic maturity to just go out and praise the genius IR at the places where he ought to be, rather than childishly rant out here.
      I am an ARR fan, who always falls in awe of IR's compositions whenever I listen to it. I don't go out there and immaturely tell that ARR is better than IR. All that I feel at that moment of time is, just the genius in IR's compositions.

      @@toyotachevroIet4972 how do you know he is Telugu ? And next why did you start abusing. Telugu people love ar rehman and also maniratnam.. we too grew up watching them. Don't try to insult telugus. We dnever did for tamils. There are many Tamil movies dubbed and became blockbusters in Telugu states. Don't hate anyone just because they are not people of your language. It doesn't make sense.

    The accessibility that Mani Ratnam spoke about is what keeps A R Rahman's music still alive and consistent with his fans over the years. This is something the other directors fail to achieve because of which Rahman’s music doesn't warrant the repeat value that it used to at one point. Both of them are genius and there's no denial of the contribution to Indian Cinema.,
