Apart from these things the characterization is well handled. The cinematography and the lighting is enjoyable. The costumes and the use of jewellery takes the audience to the time. This interview is a library for most of the young directors. And Barad really hats off for your choice of questions man.. we getting breezy feel in your interviews which away from others most common interviews which was always having the questions like “Do you like Ajith or Vijay”
BR started with "Hello MR". Maniratnam pleasantly acknowledged with smile. I don't recollect any interviewers called him like that. Looks like BR has great rapport with MR. 😃.
When i watched Mouna Ragam, i felt the movie is ahead of its time, and again it happened after watching Alaipayuthey but when i watch OK kanmani, somewhere made me feel it could have happened little early.
That question about costume detailing (metal armour vs leather) was superb. Cannot imagine another interviewer asking something as simple, yet interesting as this. And Mani Sir's answer was just as perfect as Baddy's question was.

I actually like BR when he analyzes movies other than Maniratnam or Kamal. I feel he is too fan boyish with these two ppl that some of his questions are a bit naive. I mean asking how do you keep yourself updated ? I mean any good director would adapt to the times - that what a good director does, so it’s not a miracle. Even in an earlier interview like Katru Veliyidai he had such fan boyish questions when the movie wasn’t actually good and lacked a crisp screenplay.

It's almost as if Mani Ratnam has the best possible, already well thought out answer to each of Baradwaj Rangan's brilliant questions. Love the interview/conversation!
Gold standard...each word is worth of pure gold. You are always up ur toes in awe when the master explains his craft just like a magician speaks about his work.
Oh boy! what an interview!. It was like every fan's everlasting curiosity of wanting to ask those questions like how did he pull off certain crucial scenes and like how did he conceive certain pathbreaking screenplay choreography techniques which only he could have imagined and Bharadwaj has put exactly those questions right there to the much delight of fans like me. I think this is exactly how an interview should be and its been literally ages since I have enjoyed watching the whole interview of someone whom I have admired and inspired by the casting of his creative spell since 'Mouna Raagam'.
BR is probably the only interviewer that actually listens to the celebrities and asks intelligent questions. His curiosity about the celebrities is endearing to watch... Waiting for someone that interviews BR himself!
Classic interview....just keep wondering all the time on how BR can get in to such details in his movie viewing and when he questions about the same to the director they just echo it...awesome
When the conversation was about Mani Ratnam painting his biggest and most expensive canvas in PS1 and the fact that he was at his happiest doing that, I was eagerly looking forward to Bhardwaj asking the question: do you look back now and think, maybe I should've been as happy or less stressful doing my earlier movies? I would've loved to hear what MR said to that.
A great interview.what an observation by the interviewer, seems like he has done a research on mani ratnam movies.classic questions nd brilliant answers by Mani sir.Mani sir is a maestro of movies. The unique way of presenting subtle feelings ..only mani sir can create such wonders. Loved PS1 so much.. wishing to watch it again..great movie amazing making🫡

It was a masterclass. Thank you BR for your analytical and interesting questions. His explanations are a treat to watch for budding creators. Mani sir legend for a reason.
Thank you for this interview!! Mani Ratnam is such an inspiration for passion to one's work, the hardwork and honesty one has to one's dream and just the intelligence and sensitivity to craft, is mind-boggling and awe-inspiring!! One can listen to him forever and still learn as a technician, as a creative person and as a human!! Just wow!!
BR, Loved Devaralan Attam by ARR. It reminds me of Kamal's Virumandi which released 18 years ago. It had some awesome song by Ilaiyaraja, "Andha Kaandaamani", so rustic, non-melodic, and rooted in the natural rhythm, which so beautifully complemented what was on screen.
One of the best interviews where the interviewer and interviewed are very very informative and bharatwaj brought out everything inside mani rathnam. Mani, a man of few words is made repeat made to pour out whatever was in his mind. Kudos bharathwaj both for your interview and your very very deep knowledge on good cinema.
Roja is a huge inspiration for Hanu Raghavapudi to create SitaRamam🦋 plot is slightly smiliar but ending is diffrent even the male lead characters say the particular word *Curfew*
Hanu is like a poor man's MR. Sitaramam feels like indianized Dr Zhivago made with the distinct stamp of MR /ARR . There are numerous shots inspired from Roja / Bombay / Dil se and music also sounds so similar to Rahman's style.

Baradwaj Rangan depth and prep before every interview truly comes forward each and every time you are the best BR in India right now ❤
This duo itself has a self-fan base.
Mani Ratnam is a contemporary Director. Hats off. ❤
Mani sir always have different approach to each films, he makes us feel real with his silent touch. Very excited to watch ps1 with his touch❤
மணிரத்னம் ஐயா 😊 special interview 👍
Ondanondu Kaladalli is the best of the Kannada cinema that not got it's due till shot in the forests of Dandeli and villages of North Karnataka thanks BR for shedding some light and great to know it's your favourite in historic genre
Where can i watch it pls?
@@vaishaaliramalingam5020 You can watch it on Zee5 with subtitles
It was a masterclass. Thank you BR for your analytical and interesting questions. His explanations are a treat to watch for budding creators. Mani sir legend for a reason.
Absolute master class session, discovered more from a cinema perspective.
2 legends in their own way!
Finally much awaited interview 😍😍❤️
What a interview 🔥🔥🔥pure blessings
Thanks BR you just made our day more blissful ❤️🥰
What a fabulous conversation...can listen on and on...
Was waiting for this from Baradwaj sir :). Thank you for such a thoughtful interview❤
@@msitaramaraju Indeed!
This will be treasured 10 years later!
❤❤❤ favourite director ❤❤❤
Just wow !! How or where else can you get a slice of his mind !! Thanks to BR for the questions and technology maybe ;)
I say this is not an interview but postmortem of his work in a careful way
I got my next interview for a repeat watch 🤩 two of my fav personalities under one roof talking about films 😍
Both have mastery over their subjects and the language to articulate them clearly and crisply.
Thanks so much. It really takes a special skill to ask the kind of questions that BR asks, and because of that talent, we are able to get the insights and skills of a genius. Really enjoyed it. A Master's class in film art.
Baradwaj Sir, your questions came truly from audience's perspective, for a while I thought you were asking some of my own personal questions to Mani Ratnam sir! It was bang on, crisp and clear, with a lot of deep learning and detailing.. An encyclopedia for upcoming Film-makers, Pre & Post Production techinicians 💯💯😍👍👌
I watch more of these BR interviews than those films , films might fail but baddy doesn't fail . This was the best interview by far ..
2 very sensible people interacting. It's so satisfying n interesting to listen to .Only when certain people speak one can concentrate for hours without ur mind wandering away there's always so much to take away from Mani sirs creative beautiful young mind.
Mr Manirathnam is someone who is perfect and flawless craftsman as far as film makers are concerned...This interview is testimony of such narrative of him...Every budding filmmaker should see this masterpiece conversation between these two and emulate themselves to shape up their future career...
Wishing you the BEST of all the luck and good wishes to you and the team Mani Sir. Fab Job ...
When the questions are longer than the answers, you know it’s BR meets MR

Sir, those body armors for Aditya Karikalan and Vandhiyadevan were so unique and spectacular. So authetic! Loved the details..
Masterful interview! ♥🙏
Hanging thali to missing thali to no thali, sokkaa sonaiyaa, idhellam appadiyey thaanaa vararduillai (MMKR dialogue) hats off for connecting so many dots throughout the interview.
Nothing to take away from Ravi varman. The visuals look stunning but was imagining what Santhosh Sivan would have brought to the table. Urumi and Asoka look unique.
