There is absolutely no reason for them to exist besides soldiers killing themselves. This whole movie the soldiers use tactics that are completely awful. yeah that's kinda odd but I think what we assume as "double standards" has something to do with asian culture. So far, they've been holding back these somewhat intelligent creatures with such tactics, because you can look at the scenes where these beasts lose their minds and act upon instincts when they catch a prey or close to catching. Besides this all, it's a sci-fi, meaning, we as viewers can't really know or learn the nature and behaviors of these aliens. GUYS I WATCHED THE MOVIE. The reason why he died is because after the monster jumped on him, the monster is still alive and mauls him for a time until they fully kill it. This video cuts that out to make it shorter? idk why this guy cut that part out tho. LIke so ppl can see.

One thing his plates should have done was help him to defend against the punctures that the teeth just completely regarded. The creature was dead even before landing on him so there are no muscles in the jaw working against the armor. He should have been hit by the weight, and slightly injured ir disoriented, but not fatally wounded. This scene is a clear picture of how sacrifices are made when a story needs to progress, but in the dumbest most audience-intelligence -insulting way possible

Plate helps against both cutting and stabbing as well as any wounds that might be inflicted internally. Gambison protects the body from the trauma those hits would cause. In this movie they are neither properly armored, nor does their armor do anything to protect them against the enemy they are fighting. And like I said, the creature died middair so there was no force being generated by its jaw, merely its forward momentum from being in the jump already. His wound should not have been lethal or even apparent. Maybe slight bruising and a little headache, but not lacerations and puncture wounds. Thats unrealistic and it doesnt look believable. Itd look better if they werent wearing armor at all.

Besides you know how massive those creatures are, still you march just with harmless shields in front of you instead of formation with blades or spears poking forward. Very smart
