To all saying this is a bad cover, it’s sorta Live Karaoke. The show was thrown together. And, you know, Taylor woulda loved it. He loved imperfect stuff.
This is not an easy song to cover and not screw up, as FF demonstrate. Rafferty was a perfectionist and a master of harmony. So if you mess up the balance (drums way too loud), leave out instruments (organ) and don't prepare (guitar) ... then this is what you get. The lead singer actually does well and I believe the background singers too, but we don't hear them in the mix, while harmonies were key to Rafferty's music.
OK, ok. They needed more rehearsals for damned sure. But the feeling is there. I've had plenty of times when I wasn't at my best, too. And if there's an afterllife, Gerry Rafferty wasn't off dissing a cover. He was jamming with Taylor and everyone else who dropped in.
Yeah Gerry's version is beautiful, not this noise pollution . I'd rather hear a half dozen howler monkeys and Yoko Ono shrieking on top of a shitwagon being pulled by a team of farting mules.
@@michaeldematteis9944 I was looking to see if anyone pointed this out. The original is played by Hugh Burns on slide guitar. But you can really only hear it at the end of the lead line, when he slides down just before the chorus. He also plays the rippin' solo on Baker Street.
@@ProtoType99468 yes, again highlighting what a master of his trade Gerry Rafferty was. To the entire music industry, he was a freak and a legend. Still missed today.
No, it was horrible. The guitarists (if that's what they really call themselves) should try buying a $20 tuner. It would really help their sound. Are they that broke?
Your comment is just confirmation that it wasn't an impressive rendition at all. Frankly, it could have been about 90% better in the hands of a guitarist could hit the notes, but his bends were way flat and it was kind of painful to listen do. The singer was mediocre and the rest were fine. Dave did great on drums, of course.
Rafferty is no longer earthbound either and it didn't do him honor at all. If they are serious about mourning a friend, they shouldn't do it half heartedly like this. It would be ok if someone broke down with sadness, but that's not what happened. They had a brainstorm and thought they would pull it off, the stars they are. Well, no.
Wow!! I totally agree!! this is awful! Gerry Rafferty would be soo disappointed yikes! a disaster! 😮😢😂 long live the original master of this great song Gerry Rafferty!!
Considering Baker Street is one of the top ten albums of all time and impossible to replicate, it's fine they chose it. Gerry's legacy is safe. The man was a brilliant musician. He loved the art and hated the business.
nosé si será el sonido del celular pero bien feita la versión, la guitarra como qnde olvidó de ponerle los efectos de la canción original, pero es bueno que toquen la que para mí es la canción más bonita del rock
Miike Snow is an incredible electronic group, and Gerry Rafferty wrote one of the greatest songs to come out of a decade crammed to the brim with amazing music. Lovely tribute to Taylor.
Man, I've always loved this song. I'm trying to figure out who didn't rehearse. Dave should have finessed a bit. It's a ballad. Probably just adrenaline. I think it's the bass I hear guessing. Kind of a shame. I love the sentiment.
They play a close harmony pop song as if it were power rock. The whole setup is aloof. The organ is not there, which forms the basic layer. The guitar is sloppy. The drums too loud. The musicians are too distant from each other. The lead and background singers can't see or hear each other either. I'm actually impressed with the singer's performance in this suicide mission.
This is under rehearsed and it shows. The singer is good, but the guitarist is unfortunately way off, and just hits the wrong chords and puts the band and singer off. Good to hear any cover attempted for a Gerry Rafferty song.
Great version of a much forgotten classic, this was a pretty decent hit that was played on FM radio quite often back when Baker Street was the big hit off that album.
I play this song with my band, and we KILL it compared to the Foo Fighters. They are EPICALLY bad, though the singer and drummer did a decent job. Very sad and painful to listen to.
FF are a talented group, nice how they covered this classic tune and I appreciate the thought/effort, but they definitely needed more rehearsals...the vocals were good, but the guitar was just painful to hear, which ruined it for me!
Kind of shows how good Gerry Rafferty was.
shows?? a lot of mis guide fucktarks out there
...kinda , ya.
yeh. lol
The lead guitar part in Gerry's original was superb. This was just OK.
Rafferty was a great talent. Tragic story. This and Baker Street are two of the best songs ever written.
only two songs? fuck go back and look and see what he wrote a hell of a lot then just two songs ,,phftttt
para mí es la mejor canción de la historia del rock
@@RamoMMV Yo lo creo tambien.
It’s You People’s FAVs….not even close for me…Love me some Rafferty…but GOAT….nah

You don’t screw the crowd over with a crappy cover….
singing off key sloppy guitar licks. uneven beat. bad mixing.
OK for Karaoke or amateur night. But Foo ? this was hard to listen to.
Needed about 200 more rehearsals but the thought was there.
yo creo que le meten muchos instrumentos además q son músicos profesionales no están sincronizados, bien feita la versión
beginning was wonky, but as soon as Dave did his improv,,,,,,, killed it... hit the groooove
I don't think any amouny of rehearsals by anyone could do this song justice .
One of my most favorite songs of all time. Beautiful. To the point. Amazing harmonies that they all got wrong. lol
just espectacular!!! lovely song, se la dedique a mi amada esposa
If our cover band played it like that, we'd fire us.
Murdered a classic

Lead singer does great I think. Miike Snow is very good.
It helps if you’re in tune starting out, ffs! Painful and insulting. It’s an easy song structurally. This is embarrassing.
this is only a camera mic remember, not a desk recording
I agree, I was a bit disappointed

Very cool they covered Right down the Line for Taylor …. Beautiful tune .
Yeah Gerry's version is beautiful, not this noise pollution . I'd rather hear a half dozen howler monkeys and Yoko Ono shrieking on top of a shitwagon being pulled by a team of farting mules.
sad these people think swearing is the way to exaggerate an opinion, gerry was a wordsmith so very different a man to these
I don't know what it is about this song but it almost brought me to tears. Gerry's version did.
one of great song you guys made shame on Rafferty's face...OMG
If a song ever had the bollocks knocked out of it😮
Singing along with this was so cathartic; like the whole night.
Great song , shambolic version
Awesome!!!
Nice tribute. Gerry was an absolute genius, it’s hard to get close to him
Oh wow, If there was ever a bad cover, this just may be it. Did they even practice this one? Sorry Gerry.
Brutal rendition of a classic song
Do these "Musicians" even know this song ..That Guitar is painful! I had to go strait to the original just to rinse that out of my system!
The lead guitar player really struggled with this. What a mess, maybe his tuner was broken....
The original was played with a slide.i hear you tho he kinda butchered it.
Even worse than that, he's a pretender who is delusional

This is so friggin' awesome!
Love this song 💓 70's
No words
simplemente masacraron la cancion..principalmente el guitarrista
SEEEEEEE, CARADURASSS
Boy they just screwed up one of the best songs ever written.
Did they ever 😮
Man, I gotta agree. That was rough. But it came from a good place.
The lead guitar work is rough. Sounds out of tune and really struggled with the intro and solo....
Well it makes you appreciate the guitar work on the original
Obviously ita not what you heard on the radio or album....but a live concert is so much more....so get over it
What in the name of blue Jesus was that. They vomited all over one the best jams of my childhood.

My tuner broke listening to this and it’s in a different building.

no mention of gerry rafferty
I couldn't name one song by the Foo Fighters. Several better covers online
Really? I love Jerry Rafferty and this song but they sounded like they were either drunk or the cassette tape was going to eat the tape.
I’m willing to bet there was someone in the audience who could have played it much better than that.
The vocalist wasn’t bad, but the lead guitarist mullered it!
I'm the black dude. And no disrespect to the great Gery Rafferty but that guitar player ruined one of my top ten greatest songs ever.
