As a bassist, this is how most time signature conversations go for me with drummers. I think I know a lot, and they're usually pretty patient when they correct me. haha
This album is so damn good that it puts a lump in my throat and brings tears to my eyes. It's fucking amazing.
The Storm In Me makes we well up and gives me a lump in my throat every time I listen to it. Glorious album, love the reactions.
You guys picked up on some hints of southern metal in their sound here and there. They've flashed bits of that sound at various times throughout the years. I think it's most prevalent on "Salting the Mine" from their sophomore record THE LAST WORD IS YOURS TO SPEAK. Check it if you get a chance!

Previous album Dark Flag I agree is worth checking out even if its kinda hit or miss. The album before that, Till the End, is a straight 10/10 for me, better than the fire itself. Like it's worth dropping whatever ur doing and listening to it rn
