    Love her swing; great tempo and swing path! I'm a 3 handicap senior and hit my clubs only about 5 yards further (7 iron to 150, Driver to 235). I try to play like her too (take 10 to 20 seconds to determine the right shot, one practice swing and hit). I think the women pros (on all the tours) are the best to watch and emulate. Thanks for all this advice. I think about ditching the ego and about reducing risk on the course because of your videos.
    I'm a new player (2 years, ~20 handicap) and I haven't been able to control the driver at all this summer. I play in an amateur league where last week there was a tournament on a long narrow course with lots of trees along almost every hole. I gave some thought about what strategy you would use if you were me. Keep the driver in the bag was my conclusion. So, I practiced hard for 10 days with the long irons.
    Result: I won my bracket by three strokes with an 87. One of my better rounds ever. Never used anything but the irons. The other guys in my bracket were as confused as hell. I just smirked, "I went for a walk on the grass, while you went for a safari in the trees!" I had some bad shots and some good ones, but zero penalty strokes. That made all the difference. 5 iron, 5 iron, pitching wedge on par 5's. "What's wrong with that?," I asked them. The confusion on their faces!! Priceless!
    Just yesterday I tried a 4 hybrid for the first time. (Told you I was new!) What a revelation. Not that much less distance than my driver and I can control it almost as well as my 7 iron. Look out!

    Here's the truth ....I played off 5 for a short time and between 6 and 9 for many years . At our local club which I knew implicitly I played and practiced lots and many hundreds of comp rounds . I shot 66 once and 67 once and another 8 or 9 times I shot sub 70 . We had a couple of pro's play with us over the years and I was lucky enough to play with one of them ..Monumental difference in attitude , patience , shot decision making and pure skill . I loved it .
    That day he shot 66 and had never seen the course and he only used a few different clubs . I had 74 and thought I played pretty well . Jack Nicklaus's advice too sums up amateurs playing better golf .. Play with your natural tendencies and use them to your advantage and work on eliminating your weaknesses before you worry about playing perfect shots which backs up what you have in this great vid .

She wasn't trying to crush it ... just smooth and straight. Most guys didn't even notice her because she wasn't doing anything amazing ... just 150 yards, but a machine of accuracy.

    8:00 - exactly what I try to to do. I picked it up from hearing Jonny Wilkinson talking about taking kicks at the rugby goals. He would focus first on the middle point precisely in the centre between the uprights, then “zoom in” on that space to identify an individual in the crowd. If I remember correctly he then would imagine that person was his grandmother and think about landing the ball softly in her arms. Even if you miss your grandmother’s arms, you’re now laser-focused on the exact point between the posts.

    Hi Matt, Great video as always! Gen seems really down to earth, and is clearly a phenomenal golfer! A lot to be learned here.
    PS. Please do a video on how to hit your driver 350+ yards with an 85 mph swing speed.

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  4 года назад +1

      350 yard with 85 mph is easy. Just pick it up at 220 and drive 130 with the golf cart, drop the ball there

    Like the comparison. I’ve always seen some Ladies pro swing in my head as the example to follow. Not bombers like Lexi T, Laura P or Michele W, but rather Annika S, Lydia Ko etc. And Gen here. Matt seem a bit stressed at every shot, and either under-satisfied or over-satisfied. Gen is just cool with whatever and camera on is nothing she even thinks of. Great video, lot of small good hints. 👍🏼 (bogey player now with straight short but fairly straight drive, hcp 8 as best)

      It's amazing to see the Korean women (who are usually about 5'2" and under 110 lbs) hit 250-yd drives right down the middle. They don't try to crush it ... they just hit that sweet spot all day long.

    [Fun FACT] There are about 150 pga tour cards roughly active in and out, and in 2020 there are 24 million active golfers in United States alone. That ratio equates to 0.000625% (or 0.625% of 0.1% that Matt mentioned without too much math) of the total golf population can be on the PGA tour.
