My truck got a check engine light and the dash said fuel level sensor fail, and I got a P0463 code which read (Fuel level sensor A circuit high) after alittle bit of research I discovered this is a common problem with these 4th gen rams and I show you guys what causes this, with side by side views of the old and new fuel sender. I hope this video helps and leads you in the right direction.

I been having same issue on my 2014 Express ever since it got to around 90,000 miles. It only fails when i fill up the tank and after the first quarter is done it goes away. So i pretty much just dont ever fill it up past 3 quarters. Anyway i checked the code and its same code. Thank you for video bro. Cool truck.

Definitely interesting how you did it 🤔 being a mechanic and I takes me 35 minutes maybe to take the tank out but I have 7 inch lift kit and 3 inch body lift on my RAM thanks for the video .I’m experiencing the same thing with my RAM
No problem bro! 🙌 that's super quick!! I've never taken the tank out so I was afraid of dry rotted hoses and broken clips that could potentially turn a couple hour job into a weekend job😅

I legit just got done bolting my bed back down and installing my tailgate this morning after swapping the pump yesterday on my 2014 1500. Tried to use my engine hoist to move the bed but that didn't work so I had to wait for some friends to get freed up to come help me slide it back after removing the read wheels.

Yes! That was the first signs! The gas light would come on and the needle would drop to empty. And I knew good and well I had gas.. it would just randomly do that at first until it just always said I was on E

I changed the unit on my 96 Mazda b3000. It used to always stay on empty but when I changed it out it the gauge now shows a hair under 3/4 . But when I turn off the truck it stays on the 3/4. What could the problem be?

Hey I have the same code from my 16 ram but my fuel gauge works good. You think I still have to do this?
Do you have any symptoms what so ever free the code came up? If your gas gauge doesn’t start acting funny I’d wait before doing all of this but once I did this the code went away and never came back
No my truck was running fine no problems what so ever just got the code out of no where
@@eegm92 dang that makes it hard to pin point it bro.. I would hate for you to do this and it not be the cause.. but after a lot of my own research before I did this install.. a lot of rams fuel level sensor in the tank do fail after like around 70k miles and up.. most ppl go to the dealer to swap it, however the dealer won’t just change the part i changed.. they literally change the whole pump and in some cases tank. 🤦🏻♂️😓

why did it start to fail? or is just over time that it messes up?
its just something that messes up over time, since the little needle thing goes up and down on the notches it slowly gets scored out and fails to read
How is the sensor..all trucks have the same code
If you get this code and your gas level says empty when you actually have gas, this is the fix💯 it’s not really a sensor it’s the fuel sendor/ float in the gas tank

We’ll there was nothing wrong with my fuel pump, just the fuel level sensor.. 🤷🏻♂️ but if you want to replace the pump, replace the pump.. it’ll come with a new sensor..
