Problem is my friend wants one and now we cant find them on Amazon or Ebay anymore.
Find a convoy and sofirn brand if you need a cheap but high performance light.. dont buy any zoomable light, all zoomable light is crappy light.. sofirn sp33 is real 3000lumen for only $25-30, there lot of it review video on youtube.. and for edc size convoy s2+ sst40 you get it for only $18-20 and it gave more than 1000lumen.. those brand can beat the nitecore or even surefire performance.. lot of it review video in youtube.
@@awangemas9505 already owned a mt6.. still not my cup of tea when using it outdoor.. zoomable light will never spread evenly and even when fully zoomed the light spot it project not as intense compare to reflector and tir optic lens, probably at only around 70% overall light the led produce that is release to the front, the other 30% is waste inside the fl head and between the magnify lens.. That's why tactical light company such as surefire and modlite never make a zoomable light.. i feel not safe when walking and exploring places with that zoomable mt6, make me end up keep using highest mode to feel safer using that.. with reflector and tir optic flashlight, medium and low mode is enough for me to see any obstacle around.
@@awangemas9505 This is true; however, and I'm a Nitecore fan, all inexpensive lights aren't complete junk. I have a Sofirn SP35 I bought for $38, and my eyes can't distinguish any difference in performance between it and my P20i; they both use the SST40, a 21700 battery, and claim about the same throw. I believe the SP35 has a 363-yard throw compared to the P20i's 375; pretty darn close; that said, the SP35 doesn't have a tail switch, spring-mounted battery, stainless steel head, or ceramic glass breaking tips which make the Nitecore, by far the superior torch. Still, for the average Joe looking for something to use around the house, or maybe camping, the SP35 at $38 is a heck of a deal.
Before I know Nitecore, I bought a lot of stupid lights. I bought one the same as the fourth one shown in the video, which has four blue battery indicators near the button. They use xhp70.2 and can produce more than 1000lm when turned on. The problem of those lights is they dim after about 5 minutes, becoming less than 200lm. There is no circuit design or anything, and the light does not even get hot. They only use those simple MOSFETs to supply some current, and there is no heatsink for those chips .I guess it is because thoes chips get hot. Some of the fake lights may also have some thermal conductive silicone on those chips, but this "four blue battery indicators" does not. Another point to make is that those fake ones are big, heavy, and blocky. There is no mean to carry such a big chunk around. In addition, I also measured the capacity coming from those fake lights, they usually measure less than 600mAh, and the Nitecore charger indicates poor for them, as their internal resistence are >=0.5Ω.
I am actually very impressed by how hot those Nitecore lights, and some other good brand lights, get. Although I did not measure it, other RUclips channels did. They reach more than 100℃. They manage to push the LEDs to their limit without crashing them. I mean I crashed many LEDs myself. It is hard to manage without specialized manufacture level design.
Great video! Every industry has fake crap with terrible quality, that's kinda "normal" nowadays. People just need to do a bit of informative research, if they're serious buyers. I just bought my first Nitecore the other day, the MH12S. What a fantastic little light that is.
good clip! you just saved me money. i was having doubts before watching this video on several advertised 100,000 lumens torch that looked too good to be true.
14:50 i got the headlamp with 2x 18650 and have a proximity sensor mode that turns on the led . no brand . same cube box . enough brightness if got into accident at night . all other cars will notice and avoid further collision . bought it at live bidding at only sgd$4/- . no one was buying it , so initial bid never raise the price . totally worth it . 3 months later some poor driver hit my car and i record all videos and photos with the help of this head lamp . won my case . spent finished all compensation $$$ . 5 months later the T-junction had a change of traffic light signals . new RED ARROWS enforce drivers to stop behind stop lines . probably an accident prone area .

Great review mate well done, it goes to show how many scams are around and fake touches but how many people fall for these torches all because they don’t want to spend the money buying a decent touche , stay with a decent brand you can’t go wrong,

What do you recomend: I'm a field chef in Australia, I'm often in a camping/bush setting on my motorcycle. Due to my limited vehicle space (pretty much on my person and 1 bag) I need a 1 light does all for up close food prep/cooking (some time hands free, I usually have a vest or hat) and also bush scouting/deterrent for any animals wanting to kill us - haha. And In a rare occasions as a back up vehicals headlight for my bike (blew a globe in the bike at night once).
I've seen that T6 flashligh advertisement in Germany tv channel. The price was €56 for 2 flashlights in a package and a Germany technician carry it. OMG
1000lm is relatively easy to reach, a single XML should, but usually the drivers in cheap flashlights are shit and underpower the LED alot Xanes lights on banggood are all underpowered, i bought a 2x XML T6 light from them and the power draw at max brightness was only 3.5W if the driver itself was better it would've been capable of the "1600Lumen" without an issue, i've verified the max power of the leds themselves and they definitely take 10W each for a long time and they're pretty bright aswell, so i'm sure they're legit ones (one good thing about it atleast) as they're only a bit less bright than my genuine Cree XP-L's
Sofirn and convoy are good brands. They have ties with the modding community. When you buy a convoy light, you notice right away how easy it is to take apart and mod. I personally own units from both brands. I even have nitecore. All of them perform well. Nitecore however does a pretty good job in almost all areas. Better beam and build quality.
Do not be deceived by the specs or the prices, the truth is at the reliable brand, you should Invest each dollar in the high quality items. But in case you want something for a short time, buy those cheap goods. camping and emergency equipment and important work, the original items are works great when you need it.
just need to buy a right brand if need a cheap light.. go with sofirn or convoy brand if want a cheap under $40 light.. it outperform a nitecore in term of brightness especially the sofirn sp33 model for only $30.. dont buy any no brand chinese zoomable light, all zoomable light is a crap.. go with reflector or tir lens light that sofirn and convoy sell for cheap.
lol @ 10:33 i had some of those batteries and they were rubbish why? well i opened one *don't try that at home folks* because something inside was loose, and instead of a tightly packed battery, it was a 3rd of a 18650 lithium cell with a very low density , which had been badly spot welded ( the light would work intermitantly or badly flicker) and the - lead had broken free , plus it felt like it weighed the same as a feather (an out and out sign you have a fake) it also came with a 12 volt car charger who's parts consisted of two resistors and an led , one resistor was for the led and the other for the battery now anyone who knows about lithium cells knows they need to charge up to 4.20 volts, anything over that and you risk thermal runaway (maybe they thought they could get away with using such a low density cell so no-one would know)
Great content! I've always been too poor to own a Nitecore. Have always been curious on brightness comparison. Would be great to make a video to spot FAKE Nitecore.
Stuff like this is why you never want to buy flashlights on amazon. Not only do they not know what they're selling, but what you buy on amazon isn't always what they send you when it comes to stuff like this.
i always check what led they are using osram or cree , and have a range of price that you think is fair. if its too good to be true then its probably fake. however there are oem flashlight that are really good
At least some flashlights are honest they make no claims and you find them on supermarket shelves for less than 3 pounds batteries included in central core that contains 3 aaa batteries It seems to me that companies that market flashlights with wild claims are to used to selling on wish as in that market place you can claim anything about your product and get away with it and even weirder some people believing the claims
Nitecore is great. I love my Nitecores. But their flashlights drains batteries when not in use. Not good for safety emergency use. I have reprogrammed mines to solve the issue though.
Yeh that copper one looks pretty but it's not going to work like high grade aluminium to dissipate the heat, that's why they use aluminium quench plates in the Heat treatments of air-hardened tool steels, works the best : ) hmmm wonder how Ti or Magnesium works...
If you ask me, I’d stick to proven brands to save you future headaches like warranty and reliability. You should also look at distributors for local support. You don’t want to buy a random brand and it arrives dead and you have to one to go to.
I've had 2 genuine nitecore flashlights fail in the past month, Both have a 2 year guarantee, but its impossible to hear back from the company, rendering the guarantee worthless
There are many good flashlights on Aliexpress if you know how to search and what to choose. :) They perfect for the average consumer. Also, I don't agree that the cartridge for 3 AAA batteries is a bad things. I have many powerful flashlights which use it. Led Lenser also uses it on many of theirs - you can't say that is a cheap or fake brand ;)
That depends on how you define ‘powerful’. How is 3xAaa better than a 18650 or 21700? The runtime of it is so poor. Especially if the light is bright, the battery capacity is too low for each AAA. Not practical at all to power high lumen lights
As it't very dark in Sweden during winter, if you want to take a long powerwalk after work it'll be pitch black outside, especially in the forest. I usually take a 10 km walk, last week I took my Led Lenser H7.2 (3XAAA). I thought it was quite all right. First 10 km evening walk, didn't use full power but almost, warning for low battery started at 9.5 km. I had already decided to get a Nitecore headlamp before that, as the Led Lenser didn't have either as bright or as good beam as I wanted. I did have my brand new Nitecore New P30 with me. Ended up ordering a HC60 headlamp and a MH10S . Tactical (with rear power button) isn't too practical walking, prefer a side switch instead. Super happy with my New P30 !!!
Led lenser are crap now. I had lots of them, the early ones that were made in Germany were good. But since leathman took over the quality has dropped significantly. I've switched to Olight and the difference is hugh, like night and day.
I'm not really against 3xAAA cartridge and I use them just for the sake of not getting my AAAs wasted since i have a lot of them. They're really not that good in powering my flashlights as 21700 or 18650 does. On my experience, one cartridge could last me an hour but if I used my 21700, it lasted me more than 5 hours. If you want to continue using AA or AAA lights however, it's best to stick to dedicated single or double cell lights. They would last longer and perform better because they're designed for those batteries.

You can build a Convoy S2+ with an XHP50.2 led and produces 2500~ lumen's for $20.... saying a 2000 lumen flashlight for $30 doesn't exist is a bold faced lie... You keep going on about ANSI ratings but the NITECORE-MH12S doesn't even reach 1800 lumen by ANSI standards I have one and measured it in a Lumen tube with a calibrated sensor and at ANSI standards which is measured 30 seconds after turn on with a fresh cell the NITECORE-MH12S only measured 1400~ lumens..... I've built a Convoy S2+ with the same SST-40 LED and it measures over 1500 lumens by ANSI standards for less than $15 USD...

Very similar to the Nitecore MH11 as far as simplicity and the tail switch are the same both also tailstand , just more of a flood beam and cheaper price. I own both.
Nitecore was the brand that got me into flashlights, my dad bought me a P12 about 6 years ago for my birthday and I've carried it nearly every day since. I have plenty more modern flashlights and gimmicky flashlights but I always end up with the old Nitecore for work because it's just so rugged and the patina is awesome 😎 I need to pick up a new Nitecore with a 21700 and a neutral white beam if there is such a thing
Several years ago i bought a thorfire s70s claiming 3960 lumens for $60 and honestly im very happy with it especially for the price im not sure if the lumens claimed are correct but it holds its own against my comparable o light. Problem is my friend wants one and now we cant find them on Amazon or Ebay anymore.
Just a lot of misinformed consumers. Thanks for the info dude. 👍🏽
@@harisyoung4110 all zoomable are crappy ? Try LEDLENSER dude 🤦🏾♂️
@@awangemas9505
This is true; however, and I'm a Nitecore fan, all inexpensive lights aren't complete junk.
@@awangemas9505 zoomable lights suck dude, even if it's well made it over complicates things, having a good fixed beam is the way to go
Before I know Nitecore, I bought a lot of stupid lights.
These people should be held accountable for thier false claims.
Great video! Every industry has fake crap with terrible quality, that's kinda "normal" nowadays. People just need to do a bit of informative research, if they're serious buyers.
I just bought my first Nitecore the other day, the MH12S. What a fantastic little light that is.
A bit? Unfortunately people need to do quite a lot of research
The fw3a is $40 and is 2800 lumen though. Even the $45 Emisar D4V2 can go up to 4500 Lumen
This is Nitecore channel we don't talk about that here
@@CheezusHGrist that's pretty backwards
good clip! you just saved me money. i was having doubts before watching this video on several advertised 100,000 lumens torch that looked too good to be true.
Best flashlight Reviews I've come across. Awesome. I subscribed.
Wrap a strip of bacon on a 100k lumens flashlight, turn on and cook it.
*Most practical, straightforward review I've ever watched.*
Not a big flashlight person, just curious. But on principal *I'm subscribing to this dude. 👍*
Thank you for honest and educational video for the ppl. and future customers ! appreciated Nitecore ! cheers !!! and the end was FUNNNY !!! keep videos like this coming !!!
I bought a couple cheap ultra fire lights years ago, and those were what lead me to nitecore. Taking apart those 18650 batteries is hilarious, some sand and a tiny lipo cell! Been a fanboy ever since. Olight ant bad either. I purchase Jetbeam products for gifts a lot.
Amazing video. Straight to the point. I want a Nitecore now
Great review mate well done, it goes to show how many scams are around and fake touches but how many people fall for these torches all because they don’t want to spend the money buying a decent touche , stay with a decent brand you can’t go wrong,
Spent many hours/days/¿weeks? on the business end of a soldering iron and who knows how much money to learn some of this stuff. Thanks for sharing, good info!
Any advice on how to get good UV (360-400nm) LED diodes right now?
I have a atactical A1s. What are your thoughts on it?
you remind me of rayner teo . you guys have a very similar way of speaking. love it
the rubber is there so you can put in 21700s aswell as 18650s
The cross hair just made me laugh out of my chair 😂🤣
What do you recomend: I'm a field chef in Australia, I'm often in a camping/bush setting on my motorcycle. Due to my limited vehicle space (pretty much on my person and 1 bag) I need a 1 light does all for up close food prep/cooking (some time hands free, I usually have a vest or hat) and also bush scouting/deterrent for any animals wanting to kill us - haha. And In a rare occasions as a back up vehicals headlight for my bike (blew a globe in the bike at night once).
imalent ms18 😂
I've seen that T6 flashligh advertisement in Germany tv channel. The price was €56 for 2 flashlights in a package and a Germany technician carry it. OMG
thank you . nice review. i have seen those OEM flashlights advertised lols
Excellent. Very educational and you helped me a LOT! Thank you for making this video! I truly appreciate it!
Was that four-core light you showed a P50 LED chip or a P70 chip?
1000lm is relatively easy to reach, a single XML should, but usually the drivers in cheap flashlights are shit and underpower the LED alot
Xanes lights on banggood are all underpowered, i bought a 2x XML T6 light from them and the power draw at max brightness was only 3.5W
if the driver itself was better it would've been capable of the "1600Lumen" without an issue, i've verified the max power of the leds themselves and they definitely take 10W each for a long time and they're pretty bright aswell, so i'm sure they're legit ones (one good thing about it atleast) as they're only a bit less bright than my genuine Cree XP-L's
What about flashlight brands like Sofirn and Convoy?
He afraid comparing it with those, im sure sofirn and convoy will outperform them especially a sofirn sp33 model..
@@harisyoung4110 👍 thank
I recently purchased an Astrolux FT03 for $36 which is actually brighter and less buggy than my Nitecore TM03.
JUST SAYING
lol @ 10:33 i had some of those batteries and they were rubbish
why?
well i opened one *don't try that at home folks* because something inside was loose, and instead of a tightly packed battery, it was a 3rd of a 18650 lithium cell with a very low density , which had been badly spot welded ( the light would work intermitantly or badly flicker) and the - lead had broken free , plus it felt like it weighed the same as a feather (an out and out sign you have a fake)
it also came with a 12 volt car charger who's parts consisted of two resistors and an led , one resistor was for the led and the other for the battery
now anyone who knows about lithium cells knows they need to charge up to 4.20 volts, anything over that and you risk thermal runaway (maybe they thought they could get away with using such a low density cell so no-one would know)
Bro is tired of all that fake lumens rating. 😆
Great content! I've always been too poor to own a Nitecore. Have always been curious on brightness comparison. Would be great to make a video to spot FAKE Nitecore.
i still love Nitecore products.. specially the tiki variants
Stuff like this is why you never want to buy flashlights on amazon. Not only do they not know what they're selling, but what you buy on amazon isn't always what they send you when it comes to stuff like this.
You can buy Zebralight on amazon
i always check what led they are using osram or cree , and have a range of price that you think is fair. if its too good to be true then its probably fake. however there are oem flashlight that are really good
Just received my acebeam X45 yes this is expensive but it isn't a rip off.
Great video like how you went into depth about Manufacturing distributing
Can't wait for my MH12 V2 to come...
At least some flashlights are honest they make no claims and you find them on supermarket shelves for less than 3 pounds batteries included in central core that contains 3 aaa batteries
It seems to me that companies that market flashlights with wild claims are to used to selling on wish as in that market place you can claim anything about your product and get away with it and even weirder some people believing the claims
Thanks for the information on the scammers u have really good content please keep it up I am now a subscriber 👍

Nitecore is legit ! Very good and reliable, but competition is fierce in the price range.
I like nitecore lights. I got my original P12 just quit working, how can I get a repair? It's about 5-7 years old.
Warranty is 5 years, so yours should be out of warranty. Time to get a big upgrade. The MH12S is an awesome replacement
You could dissemble it and solder but that's risky territory and you'll need to learn a lot of about them.
7:30 there something they called half press... or tap to change mode hahahaha
Nitecore is great. I love my Nitecores. But their flashlights drains batteries when not in use. Not good for safety emergency use. I have reprogrammed mines to solve the issue though.
What happen to MT series such as MT10A, MT20C, etc? I really like those series. White led and red led with various mode in a pocket size.
Yeh that copper one looks pretty but it's not going to work like high grade aluminium to dissipate the heat, that's why they use aluminium quench plates in the Heat treatments of air-hardened tool steels, works the best : ) hmmm wonder how Ti or Magnesium works...
Hey I just came across astrolux flashlights it is worth buying.
If you ask me, I’d stick to proven brands to save you future headaches like warranty and reliability. You should also look at distributors for local support. You don’t want to buy a random brand and it arrives dead and you have to one to go to.

Ya bro those triple a lights are crap
They would last longer and perform better because they're designed for those batteries.
ppl always ask why buy 100-200sgd torch until they compare haha
Thank you so much I love your videos.

Should take them apart and see how cheap the components are
while on the topic, are there any fake Nitecore's out there? clones?
So the big things to watch out are:
Bombastic Description: overuse of superlative terms (Mega Super Hyper Ultra Overkill brightness), insane sounding details (like Nuclear)
Ridiculous numbers relative to both its price and physical size: 20k lumens for $20? Press X to doubt. Also, come on, that tiny thing won't throw out 20k lumens, it is just impossible.
Engrish in the box or marketing material: You know these aren't written by professionals. Not just English by the way, but can be any language.
Similar look to another (questionable) brand: Have I seen this before under a different brand? Not to be confused with actually decent rebadged OEM like the A brand, these are decent products.
Suspicious batteries it comes with: You see anything above 5000mah on an 18650? That is quite suspicious.
AA battery cartridge: yeah
True that! I have dumb friends who totally believe that hype! Crazy, trying to explain people that the maximum is 3600mah for the 18650 battery.
