🐿❤Oh no! Poor Bonnie. I knew it had to be hot. I saw squirrels laying flatter than flat in 2012 when it was over 103F in Ohio. I am really happy she is ok. Though I am sorry for her that she fell, the video captured is fantastic. Thanks for sharing & caring for these sweet creatures.
I was worried about her when I watched the recording. I shortened the amount of time she stayed on the ground in the video before climbing back up the tree from 3 minutes to 10 seconds. She looked very sore after the fall for several days when she was climbing in and out of the box. A little over 3 weeks later and she looks perfect now.
@@trakdv362 Oh wow! I could tell she was quite dazed. I wondered if she had enough time to turn & flatten out for the fall, from the long shot it didn't appear like it and since she was still for 10 minutes I'd say, too, it wasn't a soft fall. I'm sure since she was asleep she was rather confused for a bit, too. I am so glad she is well now & that you have the cameras in place. Had she not survived, at least you would have known about her little one & saved her. Fortunately, you didn't have to, but wonderful to know had she needed you, you could have been there to help. Another channel in Virginia showed today that mama had brought her 6(!) babies back to a nest box after moving them out in August when a young raccoon attacked the box one night. It is built to protect the squirrels from predators, of course, mama doesn't know that, but I imagine with 6 little ones she is happy to be back in the large-sized box. However, I thought about this when watching Bonnie climbing back into the box. Your squirrel box is rather deep, but are they safe from raccoons in yours, too? Thanks again for sharing. I love squirrels and being able to watch them is so fascinating & fun for my daughter & me.
