This channel mostly documents Eastern Screech Owls, Fox Squirrels and other wildlife in my yard in Dallas Texas. I started videoing February 2022. I currently have two nest boxes with internal and external video cameras. The owl breeding season if roughly from December to May. Squirrels typically have two litter each year, around January-Febuary and June-July.

This looks like a nursing fox squirrel. Often when their pups are around 5 weeks old the moms will move them into a larger nest. For the last few weeks this mom has been checking out the nestbox. She has napped in the box for hours in the afternoon. Today she started moving in nesting material. Hopefully she will move in her pups!

This very excited female squirrel has been checking out the area for a few days. Today she decided to go into both the nestboxes to check out the interiors. I think she is about a year old. She could be one of the many female squirrels (Patty, Lucky, Molly, Watson, Mia) that were born in the area or perhaps an entirely new female from a nearby territory.

These are two fox squirrels that I would estimate at approximately 10 weeks old. I spotted them in the huge maple tree across the road. Leo, A Rescued Squirrel Returns For Treats And Pets

This is Leo, a one year old male fox squirrel. He was rescued last year when he was around 5 weeks old after becoming an orphan. He was released about 6 months ago early this spring and has been living in the wild since then. He returns quite often to get treats. He has now started accepting pets. He looks super healthy and is considered a successful rescue and return to the wild story.

This is Leo, a one year old male fox squirrel. He was released abut 6 months ago and now is about a year old. He returns often to get some treats. Here he at around 1:30pm. He often comes to my patio door when he sees me inside.

This is a male red-bellied woodpecker. He has all of his head feathers standing up at the start. I have not witnessed this before. At the end you can hear him calling (if you have audio on). He was flying around with a female companion. He was inspecting a vacant screech owl box.

The squirrel's name is Back Notch Mama and she was born February 2021. She is a Grey Squirrel living in New York. She will let Woods Spy feed her without hesitation. Her preference is walnuts in the shell. She has quite a few notches on the back of her ear and that is where her name comes from.

Aww how lovely! really enjoyed watching this. I've been feeding a female squirrel in the park and makes me understand what she's been going thru the last month. She's been nursing too. I'm obsessed with squirrels, they're beyond cute!

The are fox squirrels. There are some gray squirrels in Dallas but none in my neighborhood.

It's a wild rat in Dallas Texas. I think it is called a roof rat.
