  • I am working on a set of dishes. I chose the spherical square form from GR Pottery to make the set.

You are just so darn fun to watch!!! Pressed plates are usually made when the clay is dry enough so that when you press it the clay stays in the shape immediately and you don’t have to do anything else to it! It is reallllly gratifying to be able to cut the slab press it and DONE! Your way obviously works but I bet you’d have fun with the push and done method too. Also when wedging the clay only wedge what you can easily do. That big chunk is way too big hun. And if your surface is much lower you can use your weight and it is so much easier. Please don’t take my advice the wrong way I just want to make it easier for you!!

the clay I am using is sorta picky. It is T mix 6 which is a porcelain type stoneware. If I wait it cracks. every single time. But it fires white and is beautiful. We have come to an understanding lol. When I use Buffalo wallow clay it can take more abuse.
I take any advise I can get :-). I always want to do things easier.
While I let it sit there the clay got hard. I wedge that much easily but covid wrecked my injuries then I went back to work. No aids. I had to help 19 patients to bathroom and turn them and clean them. So my normal body could handle that little clay but my body last night did not have it. I just ended up squirting it with water and put it back in the bag for another day.
The staffing shortage is a killer. I feel like pulling people off the street and putting them to work lol. That is why I have my pottery and channel. I am hoping to be able to supplement my income in the next 5 years so I can work PRN instead of full time before I am ready to retire at 65. No way I will be able to handle all this at 64.
I really appreciate you watching the channel and participating ❤️. any hints or tip you have...feel free to share lol. my next video will be a little out of my comfort zone. I will be doing coil pots. bigger ones for plants
