The Hawks and Twice confrontation tragic, if circumstances were different they probably could good friends. I loved how Hawks genuinely liked and tried to help Twice, it shows that he didn’t take him lightly.
Twice is probably the most realistically written villain. The type of guy we all know, sb who just keeps falling, always at the wrong time at the wrong place with the wrong people. In a way Twice´s biggest sin was -loyalty , and aint that tragic.
It would have been in twice’s best interest to accept hawks offer and come in quietly, but as twice said “my soul only exists for everyone else’s happiness.” He doesn’t see himself as worth saving, so in his mind going in would do nothing but betray the only people that have ever actually accepted him, for the guy that just betrayed his trust. All he cares about is protecting the league, because they are the only family he has. Something else that’s interesting is that like last season where twice had a “heroic moment” overcoming his mental block to save his friends, here he did it again, holding true to his beliefs and sacrificing himself to protect his friends once more. It’s tragic to think that if his life had gone differently, he could have made a great hero, protecting the ones he loved with a very powerful quirk
This is such a sad episode. Twice is such a tragic character. Hawks tried, he tricked him but he tried to save him, he gave him a chance, but Twice was truly unlucky to the very end because if it wasn't for that last mistake, that trusting personality that brought the ones he holds dear into a trap once again, he might have considered taking Hawks' hand. But it was too late, he's guilt wouldn't allow it. That goodbye to Toga and the way they revealed he was killed with that emotional loving moment with his crumbling clone, so good, so heart wrenching. Also, good catch at the end about Redestro's prosthetic legs not allowing him to use his full power against Dark Shadow's Ragnarok.
I'm amazed Moonfish survived to be arrested back in season 3. Dark Shadow ragdolled him through TREES in the middle of the night. It's like fighting the devil in hell, HOME TURF.
Hawks fight scenes are always so cool and awesome to see. Very glad to see y’all enjoy them as much as I do. Dabi makes pretty excellent and deadly foil for him.
Fun Fact: Denji from Chainsaw Man was supposed to be a cameo for this battle, but got replaced by a random hero with a regular hand saw for a head instead.
Everyone loved Twice, some so much that they overlook that under these circumstances, he had to go. Terribly sad, emotional, but at the same time realistic. Hawks didn't intend to kill Twice, but he knows damn well to not put his own emotions above the mission. He wanted Twice to start over, but since Twice fought that and it by far the most dangerous person in the league next to Shigaraki, Hawks had to do whatever he could to take him out. Considering Hawks himself was being attacked and chased by someone who could damn well kill him, the only way to do this was to kill Twice. At the same time it was horrible for Twice. He is a villain, he is a mass murderer, but he's also a mentally ill person who fought comfort and a feeling of belonging amongst others, tortured by the thought that he was the one who brought misfortune over them not once, but...twice (pun not intended). Abandoning the ones he thinks of as family to atone for his crimes and start over would be the ultimate betrayal in his eyes, and he would rather die fighting for the ones he puts above himself than to abandon them. There are some character's that are walking grey zones in this series, and this probably applies most to Twice. He is a good person, and he was struck by a lot of misfortune, and yet he's committed heinous crimes and is the key for the villains to overwhelmingly beat the heroes and take over Japan, if not the entire world.
The moral ambiguity of Hawks and Twice, in light of the fact that they are fighting tooth and nail to save people, also contrasts with Dabi being a horrible person here, wherein he merely goes for a killshot on Hawks, not caring if Twice is in range of his attacks
@@relic5752 Yes, absolutely. Even with Dabi apparently "assuming" that Hawks will save Twice anyways, he is deliberately risking the life of his comrade. And that's the type of person Dabi is. It's perfectly in line. Some people try to whitewash everything Dabi does because he's "good-looking" or because - you know why, backstories'n'that, but the truth is that out of all of them, Dabi is the one well and truly beyond any redemption, beyond atonement even. He is the one who's too far gone.
I also think Hawks reassurance that Twice could start over also triggered Twice too. In his backstory we learned the police convinced him to accept fault for hitting a person with a car even though the pedestrian was at fault and Twice did everything he was supposed to. They assured him it was just a little slip that wouldn’t hurt him. Unfortunately, the person he hit was the son of a client at Twice’s job. The client pulled out of their business and the boss blamed Twice and fired him. For Twice being told he can start over probably doesn’t seem true. Despite Hawks genuine assurance he would help him start over Twice likely thought Hawks was lying to him. That always added to tragedy of this situation to me. Twice needed someone to help him before he became a villain and now he finally got that with Hawks, but his past made him so jaded that just sees Hawks as someone else who doesn’t care about him.
@@Jjop017 It's an interesting thought but I think it misses a point. In the end, Twice did kind of start over by accepting everything, getting involved with the LOV and finding people he cares about and that care about him, and some of which were also done wrong by society. I don't think it was so much that he thought Hawks was lying but moreso that it was taunting because it essentially meant: Leave behind and betray the only people you care about and the only one(s) who genuinely cared about you, even though you feel indebted and guilty for getting them in this mess. Indication for that is Twice saying "Sure, my whole life, it seems like I've been a man falling lower and lower, getting duped. To you, my life looks pathetic, meaningless. I wandered around, searching for myself. And I found myself, blessed with friends better than I could ever be. Could a guy ask for a better life? Die, Hawks. But you don't get to tell me that I was "unlucky". Being here with them... I was happy!" (Translation taken from the wiki) Twice found his place, he found his happiness, and he was watching just that falling to pieces in front of him, putting the blame for it on himself. To then hear what is essentially "Leave them behind to get another chance" is a taunt to someone who puts others above himself. Sure, he might not have believed Hawks seeing how he was the one working against him, but I don't think that mattered. Even if he was sure that Hawks was 100% genuine, he wouldn't have been like "You know what, yeah! Sweet, I finally get help and can start a new life."
Don't really have much to add about this episode that wasn't said already. Yes, Twice was sympathetic, but he ultimately chose his fate. Hawks tried his best to help the guy, but given the situation, well.... 😟 Also, that was a good point about Re-Destro.... losing his legs probably nerfed him big time. However, I think Tokoyami would still be a good match for him even if he were in perfect condition, since our shadow birdman is pretty much one of the strongest UA students, especially in the dark....
Despite his actions, you can’t help but feel for Twice. He might have been a villain, but he had a lot of good and genuine qualities. I really like that Hawks wanted to help and rehabilitate him, he saw the good in Twice. Maybe with Hawks good have gotten him on a more positive path. But now we will never know 😢😢. Such sad episode.
Unfortunately, I think the problem is Twice already heard the he can start over again speech before in his origin. In Villain arc in season 5 we find out Twice lost his job because he accidentally hit someone with his car. The pedestrian was as at fault, but the cops convinced him to take responsibility anyway since it looked bad and assured him he could start over. Sadly, the person he hit was the son of big client at his job. The client blamed them and stopped doing business with them. Twice’s boss blamed him and fired him. For Twice who was assured he could start over he lost everything and nobody was there to help him back up. For better or worse the League were the ones who accepted him after he fell so far and forgive him when he makes mistakes. For Twice all of Hawks promising ring false and won’t betray the people who did accept and always gave chances. Hawks had no way of knowing this though, so there is no way he could know his approach would trigger Twice the way it did.
New to the channel and finally caught up in all your mha reactions. Oh gosh Season 6....it's gonna be a wild ride. RIP Twice. Such a good guy but fighting on the wrong side :( I actually wished he would turn a new leaf but he truly cares and feels at home with Toga and the League.

I'm so happy to have caught up with you guys!!! I re-watched the whole mha with you before watching season 6 by myself. I finished season 6 already and am looking forward to experiencing it with you!
This ep was so absolutely sad to watch. Felt so bad for Twice, he didn’t deserve to get betrayed and tricked again, he just wanted to save the only ppl who gave him a place to belong
Don't feel too bad for Twice. Don't forget: he attacked a summer camp of first-year high school students with the intent of kidnapping a select few and murdering all the others (all because his "friends" wanted him to). That's when he lost his right to live. Twice was a weak human being, without a moral compass, who served evil people and an evil cause. Ultimately, he reaped what he sowed.
16:20 ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? THEY SHOW THE BODY OF TWICE, WHEN HE WAS SAYING HIS LAST WORDS TO TOGA, THEY ACTUALLY SHOW US THE BODY COVERED WITH BLOOD ON THE FLOOR, WHICH IT MAKES SENSE BECAUSE BEFORE THAT, HAWKS WAS BEHIND HIM AND TWICE OF COURSE DIDNT EXPECT THAT BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DABI
Maybe it's just me who didn't feel bad for twice death. I get he wanted to protect his friends, but in order to protect them, he's protecting villain who killed innocent people and will continue to do so . He got what he deserves
But Twice was the biggest threat of the League of Villains as it was said, he tried to convince Twice and if Hawks doesn't do that many heroes would die.
If that's the case, you didn't understand the story. Or you put emotion over logic. We all loved Twice, and Hawks wanted him to live, but not taking him out here means risking the downfall of Japan if not the world, it means risking up to billions of innocent lives.
@@mrcx6142 thank you for explaining why my opinion is wrong, saying I'm over emotional, and telling me I dont understand the show I've watched for years. I really appreciate the input. There's something about twice that reminds me of a child who just wants a place to fit in. Hawks taking advantage of his kindness is very disturbing to me even knowing hawks' background. I know he didnt have a choice but I still wouldnt want to be friends with hawks if he can easily lie like that. Thats how I judge characters in media, it may be emotional but I judge them based on if I would be friends with them. Hawks and Twice's relationship reminds me of a situation where an undercover cop went to a high school to find drugs. He asked random students where he could get drugs and they just brushed him off. Then he set his sights on a mentally challenged student. The officer said if the student could get him drugs he'd be his friend. The student didnt have friends so he jumped at the chance to get one by going out of his way to buy drugs. The cop then arrested him and got awarded a medal for helping the world get rid of drug dealers and the student and the one who gave him the drugs got charged. That situation is technically good since drugs were taken off the street but an inocent kid got thrown under the bus. Targeting the weakest link is the best way to break a chain but hurting someone who looked up to you is awful to me. It'd be different if he showed remorse but in the coming episodes he barely shows much, albeit not that he has the time. I'll change my opinion if he later shows that he genuinely feels guilty but that doesnt seem like something he'd do.

Yes, copyright and its laws are insane in Japan, which is silly considering that both characters are from the same magazine.
