General critique. Many players on youtube do not seem to use the roads and open fields to move up. Sending formations crashing thru the woods is a lot slower than sending the same unit in column on roads even if the roads seem longer in distance.
2020, just bought this game on Steam sale. Nice upgrade from UG Gettysburg. Easy to learn the basic commands, beautiful maps, smarter AI. Skirmishing is a welcome addition, cavalry action seems more useful. I’m very pleased with the game so far.
Off to a nice start! No worries about your previous disappointment with the game mechanics, some of it had me scratchin' my head to guess the why's of the dev decisions. Lookin' forward to great battles as we push those people back. "War will probably be over by Christmas, anyway ...."
Has anybody just cheesed this battle by sending all troops thru the Eastern bridge? It worked for me a couple times, and in doing so I capture the fort + destroy the artillery batteries + beat the advancing union brigades to the fort...
The scripted battles and timer ruins it for this game because it is a nice game, but AI never carryovers its losses. Very linear campaign as well. Thumbs down.
Raise the 22nd Cavalry led by any general named Stark. And when in doubt, eye the biggest concentration of enemy and charge. Raise the 22nd next battle.
Hi thank you for upload this new campaign, could you please create some experimental infantyry unit with the longest range rifles available?, thank in advance
but they are not infantry. I also think a group of 500 should do waaaay more damage per volley than 5-10. they just arent cost efficient compared to a line or melee cav formation.
Thanks for the upload of this game,,i like watching your video half way than play the same battle than finish watching you play and see how your out come was to mine,,makes the game alot of fun this way.
Lol, at the same time I was just trying out Stones River CSA. It was difficult, took 3 times to get it right. You have to get the Union to commit south in the first phase, take the North point first with a strong army. Swing a flank like you did for the South objective but don't run them. Slowly peel off troops and at least 2 veteran brigades to start marching left towards the presumed Pike junctions. The north point force can hold off the trapped Union army. When the 2nd phase starts, do that heavy right flank you did but go slow until reserves from the center can come up, mainly skirmishers to tie down an enemy fire. Left flank should be in those bushes waiting for the Pike offensive. I took about 20% casualties and annihilated the Union army. The last phase after New Years is easy as the Union is decimated, especially if you trapped and destroyed the union army in the center and in the bushes during the 3rd phase.
First, I enjoy your videos and keep them coming. Now, I was wondering if anyone knows how to re-supply the supply wagon in combat. There was one battle I was in and my supply wagons ran out of supplies. I hate to say this, but I did not know how to re-supply them. Does anyone know how this works or is it when the wagons supply runs out that's it? Any help would be nice.
Hey thanks! To answer your question I’m pretty sure that when supplies runs out it’s out for the rest of the battle. Even for multiple day long battles
Havoc .. Thx for getting back with me very quickly. The answer you gave me really helps. I guess this really means to pay more close attention to your supply situation. Let me make sure I understand this part.. If your supply wagons run out or half way, it will take several days to re-supply them as long as your not in combat with them?.. Again, thx for helping with my question bud...
No they’ll resupy after every battle. I just mean the major battles where a single “battle” takes place over multiple days or phases. Just make sure you’ve pumped money into your supply wagons themselves and upgrade perks that increase ammunition!
Totally understand the meltdown in frustration. Ive been playing this game for about a week and getting better but a lot of the time i just get so angry with the size of the army im facing. I am getting a little better everytime though.
i like the vid and im thinking of buying the game its just a few of the steam reviews say to check out some vids first and learn how to equip your troops and other things. any beginners advice for a total war vet?
My opinion is that the Hold button simply doesn't work ... for skirmishers. Since they are meant to be delayers, nothing more, they don't hold against attacking troops. Another suggestion, having cavalry take out generals is a VERY good idea ... so why didn't you do it?
@@HForHavoc hello, im replying to inquire about this game. I use to play the old 1990s Civil War Generals from Sierra. Cant really play it much with the newer windows. This game looks very similar to that one in the way it is structured, but much evolved visually. How does it play compared to the Sierra game Art Intel wise. Is it greatly improved. I could almost always beat the AI playing either side with Sierra. Game does look really nice.. Thanks for your info
@@edburner6258 theres a guy on eBay that sells the older games and a disc that will make them playable on modern pc's and all you have to do is put the disc it and it does the rest. Well worth it and the games are usually under $20.
Well a necro post... You were really amature, I almost feel like you have played zero hours or managed to learn very little at this point. It's a great game and I hope you stuck with it till the bitter end :)
Well played, Sir! I really enjoyed seeing the tactics shown, continue please!!!

Feel like because RUclipsrs focus more on covering their infantry instead of getting shot in the open by enemies
@@riideriboner6016 main army down the roads. skirmishers ahead on road and ahead in woods.
Condition also impacts reload speed and running speed.
2nd that good idea!
The guy in the background sounds out of bioshock
go get them
What are the tiki torches like in this game?
CIA ops are not an option at this time.
You can't keep running everywhere. your troops' condition gets too low and they become ineffective and lose melee usually.
yeah i would have waited untill 30 minutes to go into the battle and let them rest than its a pretty easy task

It’s one of my favorites AND most frustrating games I’ve ever played lol
the hold button isnt very effective with skirmishers cause theyre meant to fire a couple of volleys then fall back a little

You need to play more accurate or you army will get hit hard in the upcomming battles after the first Bullrun. :)

it wouldnt matter. all infantry ranges atm are the same, just higher efficiency with longer range guns. sux...

I thought each grouping of soldiers was supposed to represent a brigade in this game. Why are they named after regiments?
3k Union troops just sit back?? What kind of AI is this??
They actually fixed it. It is great now!

After you took out their artillery with your cavalry you should have attacked their general, he was in a vulnerable position.

Nooo my fellow Ohio peeps being slaughtered
FIGHT BACK MEN
The game is good i recommend it
42nd Georgia
Skirmishers by their very nature don't hold, they shoot and move.
Yo why doesn't the surrendered 2nd Ohio aid you in the 2nd part of the battle? Don't the surrendered troops help you fight after they surrender?
No they're taken as prisoners
Traitors!!!
The hold button is hard on skirmishers because their point is to hit and run
2nd Missouri Guard
i like the vid and im thinking of buying the game its just a few of the steam reviews say to check out some vids first and learn how to equip your troops and other things. any beginners advice for a total war vet?

You really expected a 99 man unit to hold in the face of 2000 oncoming Yanks? THAT would be dumb.
....but, at least he got know how it felt to be a Capitol cop on the 6th January.....oh, wait, sorry, wrong civil war! :D
@@MrVuvuzaala You haven't seen shit. January 6th was absolutely nothing compared to the storm that's brewing.

How are you exhausted
Oh I dunno maybe because you've literally made us run across the entire map trying to secure a fort
Didn't you notice? It was a whole new battle a week later when he asked the question. Those skirmishers shouldn't be exhausted.
So what was the problem with the last campaign? I didn't quite get it...
Some crucial battle mechanics aren't balanced at all so I wouldn't ever be able to recover what men I lose, much less make a bigger army.
you did well
