Cheers to you, Barry. All those years in the trade, an EV ‘fan’ in the right ways but you call out the government and EV BS even though you’re retiring from the trade soon. Best wishes, and I hope to see more content in the future 👍
Just your video for the first time . I have retired from 40yrs selling cars and agree with most of what you say . I have an MG4 and trued initially to cope with granny charger mistake ! Anybody that perseveres with that will sell and spew anti EV to anybody who will listen (And I wouldn't blame them ) I now have home charger @ 9p per Kwh (could be 7p ) . Only way to do it . I do 200 miles a week for £5 Servicing cost me £80 including RAC Motorway charging is EXPENSIVE But how often do I use it ? Government should let EV's progress without the Net Zero suicide pact . And , you have to take into account that Oil companies are funding anti EV press because they do NOT want EV's to catch on !!
Please Barrie give us a list of the accessories that you fitted in your Ami & I like the way that you fitted pipe insulation around the frame of the AMI ... you & the two guys from "Me and Mon Ami " are good for showing what you can do with your Ami not least an auxiliary battery pack for emergency charging.Different road conditions in France of course plus the French do not have the mania for large status-defining cars like we have (part of British car snobbery).
So to get the sound all at one level you do what's called "normalizing". The industry standard is -10db. You can use programs like Reaper or others to accomplish this.
The place for EVs is small city cars like the Citroen Ami,Haibao,Wuling and Geely - they are ideal ..50-100 mies range 30-45mph.Long distance inter-city + motorway will remain the province of ICE vehicles.. OK home charging if you have a driveway EXCEPT what are the fire risks and what will be the effect on house insurance .Lithuim battery fires are hard to put out and burn very hot .If you live in a terraced house on a cobbled street trailing a charging cable from the house & across the pavement is out - and using public chargers with a BEV makes your journeys very expensive compared to home charging .
Hi Barrie i hope your Xmas has been good Just to say the thing stopping me buying an ev is the cost of charging and car insurance , good example i can buy a 2017 Leaf for only £3 grand with 50 thousand on the clock the problem is to charge it would cost £7 more for 80 miles than i pay in my Petrol car and the insurance is £50 a month more as insurers dont want to touch EVs due to the fire hazards lol , So the govt in their infinite wisdom are making it harder for us to buy EVs and are forcing us to drive old Petrol or Diesel technology around , Progress eh ? lol
It must depend on your personal circumstances. I've a 3.0ltr diesel plus an EV and my EV is less to insure. It cost me £117 to fill it up and a service was £257 so in one week my diesel cost me more than my EV did for 11,000 miles, £282 and no servicing costs. I've never seen an EV on fire in real life nor have I had any problem insuring one. It may depend on where you live.
@@jimf4748 Yeah but you can buy a large Diesel car like a Nissan Juke or Dacia Duster that has a 1.5 turbo diesel engine and they only cost £30 tax per year and do 70mpg also have 110bhp so not too bad so maybe downsize , Also i tried to buy a Citroen Ami like Barrie has but Insurance was quoted at £180 a month ! my current car only costs me £38 a month and does over 350 miles on a full tank a 1.2 it is , i know Charging an Ami would be much cheaper but it seems the Insurers seem to be pricing us out of small EVs ?
Unlike you Barry I absolutely hate electric cars... Having said that, if I did have to have an EV ( and car buyers are being forced into EV's) I'd probably have a little Ami because it's not really a car🤣 keep spreading the good word mate
Spot on Barry. I used to love all them YT EV channels but I rarely watch them now as they are almost religious broadcasts ! Unless there is a really interesting new vehicle on them (and I love micro cars) I won't watch them !
Was that Preston Motor Park near Preston Docklands Barrie? It looked like it. I used to work there 25 years ago when the Toyota place was SGL Phoenix (MG/Rover). Next to it was Renault and Volvo, and not far up the road was a Makro. Any of it still there?
@@MyAmiVice Nice to see the place hasn't changed too much, though I preferred it when there was a line of brand new Rover 75s out the front, instead of all those EVs. There was also a great Fish & Chip shop a mile or two up the road called Umberto's (on that big cross roads going into town). Used to get the 'Pound Special' for my lunch there every day. Is that still there? I hope so; it's the finest fish & chips I've ever tasted.
Your one of my favourite "EV haters". I have only ever felt you were trying to report on EVs and the effect on the motor trade as one whole. I am looking forward to the January sales figures where the truth or not of your reports will be clearly shown. I think you are going to be right but wish it was just mega EV sales and onwards.

Being a good in car sales is just about being a good communicator & honest with people and knowing your product.

Love my Citroen Ami it’s amazing
Film on the bull nose 2 minutes away from Morrisons - River Ribble as backdrop.
Interesting car. Have you ever done a review of it ?
For me it would be as much use as a chocolate teapot, also having to fit a diesel heater is just comical

An epic rant Barrie. Most enjoyable.

You can teach sales. But only to the right people.
So, Barrie, (you naughty boy) you are still not driving an emission-free vehicle when it's cold😂
Crash test rating = -1 ??
I'm trying to keep an open mind but sorting the truth from the misinformation is very difficult.
With any luck, I will have gone to the big charging station in the sky by 2030.
Do you know my cousin Andrew McKie. dealer in Blackburn.
Why do you not just have a small diesel car Barry. I must admit, it is cute.
old video 🙁
ugly cars thats why people dont want by EVs , you need segsi cars to sell
