I think maybe Hayley's opinions on Klaus also came from his TVD attitudes, with everything that happened with Tyler and the hybrids. She never really liked him but they built an incredible relationship throughout the seasons of The Originals

Klaus and Hayley are meant for each other. People say he cares for her because of hope, but man could they be more wrong? From TVD to TO, he fought for her and showed her in many ways, if only she saw that. Even she cared for him a lot. She fights with him, calls him out for things he knows are right, yet when someone as much as tries to go against him, she will fight them and defend him. They make a really powerful couple if only the writers could handle that power.
Right I wish they would of got the 2 of them together, I never got the elijah, hayley thing it was jus so weird to me like dude that's your brother's baby mama i mean after she had hope, but it jus irked me when elijah is hitting on her and kissing her when she's still pregnant

the only good thing about season 5 was that Klaus stated, clearly, just exactly how he felt about Hayley. their fates were undeserved and they should have had a far better fate - together with Hope, always and forever.
100% Both of them had a really unhappy childhood. They deserved to be able to create a happy family with their daughter.

I honestly don't get how the writers missed the romantic possibility in them like their chemistry is so undeniable, like for series/universe that is know for getting every romantic possibility together they completly missed ball on this one, instead we got the weird ass relationship between elijah and his brother's baby mama even when she was still pregnant
I don't think it was necessary to bring Klaus and Hayley together as a romantic couple but they were definitely family.
The whole Hayley and Elijah relationship never felt natural. It was like Hayley just fell for him because he showed her some kindness when all her life she had been let down by people who were supposed to care about her. She did later learn her true story about her birth parents but her adoptive parents threw her out and that stayed with her.

It's honestly so good to see Hayley and her dynamics with the other characters looked at positively. When the show was coming out, that poor girl was VILIFIED by the fandom for not bending and scraping to K&E's every whim, and for having the gall to want to live with Jackson and the wolves. Of course, I don't agree with every choice her character made, but back then it felt like the fans condemned Hayley simply for not being as in love with the Mikaelsons as the audience was, and why should she be? She got thrust into their business by accident when all she'd ever been wanting was to find out where she came from. ANYONE would be a bit leery about living with psycho murderers and about to have a baby with one of them (no matter how hot and charismatic these psycho murderers may be, lol).
Oh and not to mention the Klaroliners wanting to slit her throat at every opportunity even though she didn't even end up with Klaus

Back in....idk 2018, i was a hardcore Haylijah stan but now I ship Klayley way more, I mean, it made sense for them to end up together when u think about it: these two have a precious daughter together, fought for each other, had an incredible chemistry: in short they had huge potential together. Don't get me wrong: Elijah is one of my fav tvdu characters ever since he's been introduced in the vampire diaries and I'll still love him with all his ups and downs, but all the writers had to do was to think hard enough and get someone else for Elijah, because that thing - him getting together with his brother's baby momma is just all kinds of f*cked up imho. I've never, ever met people who even did that irl, like wtf?

I know this is an old comment but this is craaazy to me, she was held hostage for a good majority of her pregnancy and Klaus all but admitted that he initially intended to kill her after she gave birth, like, why should she be loyal to them!? Of course, they did eventually become a family that I love, but Hayley seeking out healthier dynamics in her pack and with Jackson just made sense

I understand the character of Klaus, and while yes he did some fucked up shit I get it. He'd experienced so much pain and hatred directed towards him, so much loss that he distanced himself. He pushed any real feelings of happiness aside and began to dominate his family. He loved them, but deep down he was so scared of them leaving him which is why they were all daggered. Then Hayley came along and Hope. He began to get a taste of love, and happiness. Someone who actually cared for him reguardless. You could tell how much this made him uncomfortable in the last clip. He wanted it so badly, but fear of losing it or it walking away still kept him at distance. It wasn't until season 4 that his walls truly began to break down

They should have been those "haters turned to lovers" couples where how they acted towards each other now would be how they started off and then they would slowly fall for each other and end up together.
I don't think they would use the most cliche and most common trope. They literally did that in the vampire diaries why would they do that in the originals. No matter how much Haley has grown to love Klaus I don't think she would been Loved with someone who did terrible things. Actually I'm still I'm surprised she even is with Elijah. Even though I kind of like you know I ship them together even though Julie ruined the ending and made Elijah technically have a hand in killing Haley
I really love that the writers never pushed a romantic relationship between them and instead highlighted the fact the he loved her because she is the mother of his child. It makes it more genuine and pure and it never made him look out of character.
THISS, finally someone said it!! their relationship is so underrated just because there was nothing romantic between them, but if you look the way he always cared and fought for her, you can see that his love for her was more profound and way deeper than his love for any of his "love" interest. he loved her not only because she was the mother of their child but because he knew she never gave up on him despite his flaws.
