This isn't a sad song, it's a joyous one. As an introvert, I look at Lucy's life and can't help but be awed at it. Getting paid to do what you love, and not needing anyone at all to get it accomplished sounds like heaven.
I definitely see this as a happier story than a sad one. Lucy lived what a lot of people would think of as a small life but she was content that way. And it's not like she didn't have any relationships. She had a 45 year minimum relationship with Rico. Some people just keep a small circle like a deer in a scope. Aes is an introvert like me and Lucy which is just one reason I like him so much.
I can't relate to the sadness here. Lucy is an image of devotion to self-knowledge, the pursuit of passion, and a disinterest in the "frisky dirt" the average person busies themselves with at the expense of their own self-actualization. What I come away with is this sense that Lucy always knew who she was, she didn't let society breed it out of her, and at the end of her life, she was content, knowing that she never wasted a single moment. If I'm honest, I'm a little surprised this song hasn't been discovered as a feminist anthem yet.
So stoked to see someone discover Aes. You’re in for a treat with the amount of discovery involved with listening to his tracks. One can do the same thing with his music that people do with Shakespeare, in how you can breakdown and decipher each line.
This one is a classic for sure. Wanna hear another crazy story track by Aesop? I've got one for you. It's called Acid King. And it's a true story. Phenomenal writing, but from Aes, I'm sure you'd expect nothing less.
It was unfortunate timing, but the whole album is an underground classic. Although, I feel like I’m biased. I grew up listening to him in high school, so it’s similar to growing up with Elvis, The Beatles, or The Eagles. How can you really be the judge when you were copping it on the release date?
Dude, can you react to Cambatta- Tupac murder confessions? Its a crazy theoretical first person view of the Murder of tupac but with actual facts. Love the video yooo
He is so damn good. At the end those are Aesop's tattoos, MUST NOT SLEEP MUST WARN OTHERS you should totally check out the song those lyrics are from "Commencement At the Obedience Academy" If you like his early stuff this is top tier. Loving the reactions!

I definitely relate to that. I am an introvert as well and jobwise i definitely agree. But there is more to life than career.
Aesop Rock is the best to ever do it.

@djgray1200 Aes is Lucy and her passion for drawing is his passion for writing and rap. He was an art student as well. Just adding not correcting.
One of my favorite Aesop Rock songs. Great video!
Great song! Today i got a reaction to Acid King coming.
Thanks for watching!
Aesop definitely rocks.
💯

Most of his songs are nowhere near this straightforward.
His pengame is insane!
This one is a classic for sure.

Thanks! Will add that one to my list.
Just think, he released this album the week after 9/11
Was anyone even thinking about buying albums in that time?
This song is another masterclass in storytelling.

Definitely a story
Man can tell a story!
