I put at least 40 packs through it, zero issues. drive it normal, not like kevin talbot. this winter going to upgrade steering system and address some handling issues. it has been become my favorite RC
Excellent video, thank you. I am looking to get a first RC car for a kid (and the father, obviously) and I nearly missed this one. Very interesting option indeed.
Heck ya good luck man! I personally wouldn’t recommend it for a first car tho… for a first rig I think your best option is a 2wd slash. Easy to find parts, super durable, and very affordable.
Great review! Have you tried the Flysky GT5? their AVC works quite well and you can adjust the throttle control and steering control levels independantly.
Hello Phil as You are probably aware that HH has these on sale and as an RCing Hobbiest with the Addiction I've acquired both Red and Green one's and researching led me to your channel and have subbed...will be watching more of your videos... The only part specific to the hammer rey I have found, is the chassis plate itself. As in the bottom skid section that makes up most of the chassis. Other then that everything from the Baja rey and rock rey will fit it. Front shafts are from the rock rey, everything else is interchangeable as far as I have found so far. What part are you looking for in particular?
@@falkenphil557 Hey bud, thanks for replying, i have liked and watched all your Hammer reys vids, god job and thanks for the reviews. I guess i'm looking ahead as parts break i will upfate with better stuff like the front A-arms, Shocks, rear trail arms, and all the steering stuff to name a few. probly the steering components all 1st.
@@619MotoXXX I’m still all stock except the steering servo, and I put my castle sensored motor and esc in it so I can slow crswl a little better. I couldn’t be happier with it as is honestly! I’m gonna wait for stuff to break before I upgrade anything. Out of all the rey chassis I’ve ever had the only thing I’ve had problems with is the front shafts, but with the hammer rey having an open center diff I don’t expect to have that problem on this one. I’m just gonna leave it as is, it performs exactly how I always wanted my rock rey to!
I mean most rigs are drive by wire these days, we havnt had full control of our throttle in probably two generations of cars now. definitely makes sense to me.
@3:55 so what problems did changing the 3rd member fixed ? I don't think you ever got back to that in the video. I am asking because I got this and it's my 1st RC car so I am trying to learn as much as I can about it.
I like it! I think a lot of people were expecting a lot more of a Baja rey handling experience, but at the end of the day this is a U4 rig not a track rig. And even driving on the track I enjoy it more then my short course trucks. But we all have our own preferences for sure.

@@falkenphil557 cool, thanks, yea i love mine.
Great review. Makes me want to get my old Baja Rey back up and running. 👍👍
Thanks man appreciate the view!
Thanks for the detailed review 💪👊
Thanks Roman! Appreciate the comment and like. 😁
As far as the auto throttle control, it seems to me like it’s bringing it closer to scale by making it drive like the real thing.
I mean most rigs are drive by wire these days, we havnt had full control of our throttle in probably two generations of cars now. definitely makes sense to me.
Did you put on 3s 5000mah ? You don’t have any themperature trouble with it ?
3s is the only battery I’ve ever ran in it. Never had any issues.
How about 4s?

Bigger bearings. The old style would get hot and melt the plastic the bearings are seated in.
Where can I buy the light whip?
Rc whips by dr sage on Facebook.
A lot of mixed reviews on this rig. I have to admit I'm quite disappointed. Looks great but thats the best part about it.
