Plenty of variety in Moreton Bay

  • This was one of those sessions where nothing was firing but there was bit going on everywhere. I sure covered some miles to encounter jew, threadfin, squire, sweetlip and squid. Nothing huge this week but fun was had and a small feed gathered.
The sharks spoiled the fun yet again and sadly I finally had a jew eaten by these constant pests of MORETON BAY.

Bloody marvelous mate. Love watching you smash em in my old stomping ground. So nice to see the bay producing. We didn’t get to fish much when I was home from the US on Straddie. The weather was very average. Got a few summer whiting off the beach. Didn’t get out in the bay or offshore at all 😢 Good on ya mate

Cheers mate, proper sh$t weather of late. Just the odd day here and there atm.
Bet it was great to be on straddle all the same 😎.

It’s been pretty good the last couple months out there hey. Hard to predict what’s going to be biting but pretty much always something going on.

Great Video - Thanks again - wondered if you even thought of getting a MEGA 360 to give you more forward scan - if if you did what put you off price or features or something else?

We used to use them as livies off the Dunwich jetty in the mid 80’s when the kingies were in the bay as well. Good times 🎣

I fish the bay a lot , re the sharks Im convinced they are targeting boats with spot lock running. Its all too easy for them, a whole generation of them are increasingly evolving to track that sound.
Im experimenting going back to anchoring in shallow areas. Thoughts?

I believe the sharks are hanging around schooling fish as there can be opportunities.
      Why has this increased?
I believe, lack of larger bait that used to be in the bay and the reduction of commercial netters/trawlers that sharks have followed for a free feed for years.
These sharks aren’t small, they been feeding on something for year and now they are stealing fish of fisherman that they didn’t do 5yrs ago.
They follow the crabbers around the bay and they are driving around very fast….

Got any advice on learning how to use a sounder better. I’ve been fishing for about 2 years now and have the most basic sounder skills

      @@jameshirst4426 hey James,
There are a few sounder courses available depending on where about you are. Personally, I just worked it out myself from time on the water and talking to fellow anglers when I could.
