Love the picture quality on those old Panasonic Plasmas. Got a 50" one 10 years ago used with a blown SS board. Got a repair kit for it and it is still up and running.
Yup I am all about the plasma sets as well! I have a PN64F8500 at home. One of the best plasma sets ever made. The only reason I would ever replace it is if the panel goes out on it. Otherwise I have already refurbished every board in it and will keep it for hopefully another 10 years.
I got an even older 42" one I picked up over 10 years ago in the garage that was supposed to be dead. Brought it home and pugged it in to checkout and it worked and is still working. I do have an external fan on the back.@@NicksTVRepair
Nick, thank you for your good videos. I follow your page from Iran. Please make more videos from plasma TVs. I would appreciate it if you could speak English slowly.🙏❤
Sorry I don't do many plasma set repairs because most people choose to buy newer LED sets these days over fixing them. My plasma videos usually don't perform very well. @@mehdiahmadi2785
Yes! I still have a PN64F8500 at home. 2013 model, looks better than 80% of 4k sets sold in 2024. The only TVs that are better I would say are some of the QLED and all of the OLED models. I really wish plasma sets had not gone out. They were great TVs, still are, and I would always recomend them to families with kids, because they have a glass/plastic cover that makes it less likely one of their kids cracks the screen.
Hallo Nick, I have pansonic 65 st60e. When turn it on green light flickers 6 times before starts. Does it means any problems, because it works properly? Thanks!
Really does depend on the model. In some models the damage is minimal some it's more extensive, and in others, it's extreme the amount of other parts that need to be replaced, sometimes to the point that it's not worth the labor to fix it. But again it does depend on the model Panasonic.
We had an old board that was donated that had a few shorted components. We only replaced a few of the components leaving the rest shorted so when you plug it in, the replaced components will blow again. That's part of the reason the board we fixed in the video didn't get fixed. It had more SMD components that were shorted and needed replacement. But it was too much work for the price paid + since the customer had a defective set of buffer boards and more importantly defective mainboard which are not replaceable at this time, it just didn't make sense to try and fix it as even if we were successful the customers TV wasn't going to get fixed.
Hey Nick, yes I hate it when repairs don't cooperate, it happens.. Just an unrelated question, I did my electronics trade back in the late 80s and there was no mentions of health risks from soldering back then. Is there anything we should have been aware of, is repetitive contact with tin lead solder a health concern ? Or is it just venting when soldering the main concern for technicians today?
This is the fume extractor we have at every single soldering station: amzn.to/48uj1B7 This is the most important part I would say. And it's not protecting you from fumes from the metals as much as filtering out the Rosin fumes aka the flux inside the solder. So of course yes it also protects you from the fumes from the metal melting, but most solder has a rosin core to help with the soldering process, and that's the big one you don't want to breathe. As for physically touching lead, that is fine, the problem is when you ingest it so as long as you wash your hands after soldering then you should be fine. If you want to be extra safe you can always wear gloves when soldering.
@@NicksTVRepair thanks for the detailed reply nick, I will look into the effects on rosin etc. Yes I don't have a fume extractor, but have a fan that blows across my desk, I should invest in one if I intend to do a lot of repairs. Lead free solder was just coming in back then, we never thought it was much good to use but used properly I'm sure it is. My 32 year old soldering station finally stopped working the other day, they built it to last, was a royel dual iron temperature controlled station. Thanks for the advice, I will take it on board.. Best Regards
Hello everyone, when I go with vol(-) + info on remote 3x times my Panasonic VT30 goes to a self check menu with SUM entry and "9070" in red. Nonetheless, no evident problems. Any suggestion? I love my old Panasonic plasma, playing high bitrate versions of Dune part I and II leaves all my friend speechless! So I'd like to be with me for another decade or so, but I'm not and advanced user. Thanks in advance, with pleasure I've subscribed to your channel!
What is your question? I don't understand what you are asking. Don't click volume down and info 3 times in a row and problem solved no? It sounds like you are pressing a very specific button combo to bring up a menu and you don't want that to happen? Obviously I am not understanding the question. Please ask again in a different manner.
Lol the commitment to showing the pop
Hey Malek! Yeah I was very stressed filming this part because of how loud it is. It always catches me off guard haha.

when I lose mosfets like this, it usually takes the little power regulating ICs with it
