So I wonder if you had a bad tpms, if you could simply just use the tool on the same tire 4 times? This way it will only read the pressure of the one tire, but at the same time you will be able to cheat the system and have the tpms light shut off?
That’s an interesting theory… I think the TPMS transmitters each have a unique transmit code, so your cars computer brain might recognize if the same sensor was recorded twice.
Just went thru this. reset my TPMS with no tool on my S550 (16 Mustang GT) Click hazard light switch 5 times, hit the brakes 3 times to get into the learning mode. You'll hear a honk during that process and it will also tell you on your dash to train your left front. Turn ignition switch off. It should honk twice. Then start your engine and check your tire monitor: it will be functional. No tool required. takes 30 seconds or less.
I’ve done a similar process, but it requires a tool to communicate each wheel with the engine management computer individually. When I did it the tire monitor was working, but it was showing the wrong pressures. Who knows? It would be great if you didn’t need a tool!
Just swapped 2022 performance package wheels like the ones in your video onto my 2013 mustang, and it led me to this TPMS fault light on my dash. Thinking the 2022 TPMS transmitters are not recognized by my receiver due to the unique transmit code like you mentioned in another comment. Hoping that the tool will help me pair the new wheels, they're brand new so I couldn't see it being a battery issue, but is there a battery maybe with the receiver? If the reset tool doesn't work, what would you suggest we try?
@Gianlucca, I will suggest that you drive the car for 50 miles or so and see if the computer recognizes your TPMS sensors automatically. Mine recognized my wheels that I did not register with the reset tool at about 20 miles. There is no tpms battery for the car that would need to be replaced… Please check back and let us know if that works!
@@MikeFyxdt i just put basically put same tires on my 2013 my tps light came on yesterday, drove it today light is off not sure if it will come back on , wondering how you made out ?
Thanks for the video. it showed me how to use the TPMS tool I just ordered. I got an older model Ford from, what looks like, your dealer (B_ _ _ _ ey's) and the TPMS sensor is stuck on. Hoping it's only needing this, and maybe a new sensor, and it isn't in the Explorer's computer
Hi Jet City! Thanks for checking in. Having 2 sets of wheels for the different seasons makes sense. Really glad you liked the video - I found the topic very interesting once I started doing research. I had always taken it for granted.
Hi Mike, When I installed my new take off forged nickel painted PP1 wheels and tires and drove the car for the first time the TPMS still showed the PSI from the original wheels. After driving for awhile the TPMS error chime sounded and the light was illuminated. The TPMS light stayed on during the entire drive. Drove the car 6 days later and all is good with the TPMS so it does relearn on its own.
2018 GT 10R80 - excellent! Thanks so much for your update! I still don't know if the auto-reset is based on mileage or hours driven, but it's good to know that others are having the same experience as I did. TPMS reset tool is still good is you don't want to wait for the auto reset.
I only see up to 2016 for Ford Fiesta. Here is the current updated list for this product, but they also say "more…" at the bottom of the list, so I don't think the list is complete. 2007-2022 F-150, Mustang, Edge; 2006-2022 Escape, Explorer; 2008-2022 F-250 F-350 F-450 F-550 Super Duty; 2008-2022 Expedition; 2008-2022 Flex; 2008-2022 E-150 E-250 E-350 E-450 Econoline Vans; 2008-2016 Fiesta; 2007-2022 Focus,Fusion; 2008-2022 Crown Victoria; 2011-2022 Transit Connect; 2008-2022 Taurus; 2014-2022 Transit; 2006-2022 Ranger; 2012-2022 C-Max; 2007-2022 Lincoln MKX, MKT; 2008-2022 Lincoln MKZ, MKS, Navigator; 2008-2011 Lincoln Town Car; 2007-2010 Lincoln Mark LT; 2015-2022 Lincoln MKC; 2006-2010 Mercury Mountaineer; 2006-2022 Monterey; 2006-2011 Mercury Mariner; 2007-2011 Mercury Mlian; 2006-2010 Mercury Grand Marquis; and more...

I just got my tpms tool and doesnt work for me .the question is it is possible they send me a defective tpms tool because the little light in the tool doesnt turn on help please
I checked my device and no, it is not sealed. I used a screwdriver to twist apart the two shells. The battery is accessible from there. Hope that helps!

Just like bad-tasting medicine, this video does the job and I know more now than I did about the subject matter. Unfortunately, the silly, over-long intro and attempts at creating entertainment value require holding one's nose while watching.
@Shawn Renaud - I appreciate you watching! Yes, I get silly and try to entertain... these videos are a hobby and I truly enjoy making them. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but that’s OK. Comments noted! 🙂
@Rated R Cars - there is no shame in having TPMS. I get it monthly. There are boxes of unopened car parts and accessories in my foyer and my garage as proof!
That reset tool thingy got me excited about doing the video, because you really don’t see that tool in action too much. It’s inexpensive, and it beats waiting for the car to self-register the TPMS sensors. Thanks for watching!
Lol... never laughed so hard as I did watching the closing seconds of this video. One of my cars has the ABS based system and that's fine by me. Not really looking forward to getting the other system when I purchase my next car. However, that reset gadget will be indispensable.
Hey Marc! Glad you had a chuckle... I'm guessing my 2008 Accord has the indirect TPMS. I actually like seeing the real tire pressure on the dash. I hate being on a trip and thinking a wheel feels squishy. But now that I know how they work I'm obsessed with how long the sensor batteries will last!
@@MikeFyxdt i have to add that I learned a lot from your research into this system. I had no idea these sensors each had an internal battery. I look forward to your report... (hopefully, a long time from now)... when you have to replace theses sensors (or put in fresh batteries, if that is doable).

Can this be used on any vehicle to program tpms sensors?
Great question… I am guessing here, but I would say no. I think it is specific to Ford products.
Great video, seems like your tires are over inflated, recommended tire pressure 32psi
@L. Guido - Yes! 37psi is how the tire shop filled them, and I later adjusted down to 32. Good catch, and thanks for watching!
