my feeling executing c motion after seeing this is that I perform my backswing and then the down swing proceeds with the right shoulder moving down with zero backward movement...down and forward only. Your description was similar...the right shoulder moves down and forard not out and around!

Lateral Vertical and Rotational forces from the feet up that is a golf swing.

Imagine just standing there, and you want to lift a hammer (golf club) just over your right shoulder and then smash it into the ground under a ball that is about in the center of your stance. You want to smash the sole of the club into the ground.
But you wish to send the ball towards your target so your body moves so that the hammer is coming down a bit from inside your target line (a little bit of rotation and pelvis tilt).
How hard can you smash the sole of the club into the ground under the ball?
C-motion - the rest is just optimizing grip and stance for that motion

Taking from what Charles has said, I haven't seen anyone else who has Lee's "look" on the downswing and through the hit. Two people can be doing Cmotion and have different looks. For example, Jim Colbert's (long retired PGA Tour pro) swing was Cmotion (Lee said so). Lee has always said that the downswing is wide left, not swinging into us left. The club wants to fly away from us down the target line, not hard left of it if we let go of it after the hit. MB, I would very much like to see you try and get Lee's downswing positions just to show it can be done in a short amount of time. All I know is that you'll have to start by reaching for the ball more with your hands outside of your toe line. Looking at the positions Lee gets in all the way through the downswing just amazes me. Wish I knew how to do it.

I can show how it’s done Steve. It’s not really positions. It’s just some moves that have to be done and the body just reacts. At least that’s how I approach it. The reaching out for the ball for instance gives the chest bend and side bend required as well as the hands 5 inches higher at impact than at address. It just happens. That was something that really puzzled me for quite some time when I was modeling Lee’s swing. How the heck was he getting that hand path? Once I finished the model it made perfect sense to me. It also melded with my teaching the proper use of the tool which is always my premise.

Lee emphasizes the Up and down of left upper arm, not shoulder rotation.
Coronal plane not the sagittal plane

Tried this swing but it is hard to do, almost impossible to even get close to doing. My brain/instincts doesn't let or allow me to perform it. I'm getting slices out of it.

It looks like his club exits way left on his finish in the downswing. Your swing looks totally different from his. This is confusing. How can we learn how to swing like the both of you with success? His body looks closed to the target line but on the downswing he's exiting to the extreme left. His swing looks like it took years for him to hone. This is very disheartening...

    • @michaelbroderick

His swing is different Charles. Cmotion is very unique. You can try Cmotion to see if it suits you better is all. My swing was honed from many methods. I took what worked and threw out the rest.
I still tinker with Cmotion from time to time because Lee just hammers a ball. I do pretty well with it in fact. Years to hone? I don’t think it would take very long if you instituted the elements I list in the video.
My swing took roughly 7 weeks to master when I first dabbled in improving. I’ve taught both methods to people in less than a couple of hours in personal lessons. I know Lee has given similar short lessons to people who then improved greatly.
I personally struggle to turn my rib cage as well as Lee. I also tend to not be as accurate with my version of Cmotion but that’s because I never fully committed to it. Different strokes as they say.
Don’t be disheartened. I’ll be going over what common elements of all swings are. I’ll also be going over how to easily do Cmotion in a future video.
Btw Lee isn’t closed to aim at some target line. He’s staggered to so his anatomy trains work better.

I’m swinging away from me as much as possible if it’s left it’s a touch cause I’m hitting a cut. I’m swinging very wide look how far my hands are from my body at impact.

@@LeeComeauxGolf2017 Really love that piercing trajectory with your driver. Have been looking at your video for years since the Rock Burke videos came out and have been amazed at how you swing the club and how far you hit it and the compression that you put on the ball. To this day I still can't see or figure out how you do it. If I try to do or think that I'm doing what you are doing I end up with a slice or yanking it to the left and hitting it high. Hopeless case...😒Michael has been trying to help me but I'm just one of those golfers that hasn't had that Ah-ha moment yet. Thank you also for your videos and taking the time to help those in need especially with this frustrating game.
