I am currently edcing the Streamlight Macrostream and Streamlight ProTac 2L-X. Testing the ProTac to see how it would hold up for being my SAR light. I don't really buy from Olight anymore. If I do it's mostly the little keychain flashlights to give as gifts. I think they have awesome designs but I was tired of all of mine being so hot in my hand. I will say I do wish that Streamlight was made in America but I guess at least I'm still supporting an American compnay. I don't bash people who buy from china cause that's hard not to do. I've been trying to do it less when I can if that makes sense. I really want to try a Surefire Stilletto and SureFire EDCL2-T.
I do run an Olight Baldr S on my pistol. It’s good for pistol distances….has an adjustable green (or blue) laser pointer for shooting in a position that doesn’t allow proper aiming, and is Olight proprietary magnetic charging, which means I don’t have to take the light off to change batteries, keeping my laser zero’d. And it was on sale for $96 shipped vs like $299 for an x300u.
First, congratulations on the 1,000 subs! I don't own any olight or streamlight but I have a few thrunite little ones (can't recall the names) but they're aaa and decent $5 lights. I have the lumintop tool AA sticking to my metal lamp and it's a really good flashlight, especially for the money. It runs on a AA, Lithium AA or a rechargeable 14500. The wuben C3 is also a really good light for the money, and it's either rechargeable or 2 cr123's. I'd love to have that orange olight i3t to put on my esee 4 setup, with the black and orange sheath I got from you. Maybe if you were able to make some kydex for it (hint hint lol) I may pull the trigger on it. $40-50 is a little high for my budget, although I'd love to have some fenix lights. As far as strobes, I have no use for it except to mess with my friends, lol. I'm actually working on a knife in a zombie apocalypse theme. I even made some scales for it that look like zombie skin. I'll email a pic of it. It's the esee 6 clip point. Anyway long enough comment... Congrats again man and great video!
Appreciate ya! And maybe ask the group if they want to submit a question for a Halloween Spooktacular and we'll give em a shout out! I have a bunch of lights to go through so more reviews coming. I think I'm good with this one for awhile though. Thanks for tuning in man and enjoy the sheath!
Seriously? That’s great to hear. I was told by Streamlight not to use 16340 or 14500’s. I figured it would burn out the light. Have you run those for extended times? No issues? Thanks.
stream light will not let you down I've been using them for ever but I just bought a pd25r from Fenix it was 54 bucks and I'm impressed with it I think you should at least check it out I don't think you would be disappointed for the size and quality they have a really dependable warranty but I would take the stream light over any of the other lights you have there
Does the streamlight have a warm white led or a cool white led? Not even one review on youtube mention the color temperature. I wish it had 5000k or less. Close to natural light.
@@5MinuteKnives Would you be able to compare this light to some flashlights that you have and tell me if it's warm or not, please? I really want to buy this protac. The only thing that stops me is this question. I would really appreciate it.
@@Igryan8 No worries! it doesn't get that warm really. Definitely stays cooler than my Olights but I usually have it on low if that helps. I think you'll like it!
The Candella is really just the reach of the flashlight. The higher the candela the farther out the beam will reach. It's also called the "throw" of the light too. I just received this same streamlight and I am very happy with it. I really like how it will run AAA, AA, or the cr123 batteries. I run all of these batteries so that is the main reason I bought it. I'm excited to see how it performs over time. The energizer Tac300 is another flashlight that I picked up a few months ago and it is a fantastic falshlight for $10. 300 lumens and has a pretty good throw. It also runs the cr123 batteries. If you haven't checked those out, they are a good pick up from home depot for $10. I would like to see your thoughts on it! Also, I run the Benchmade Griptilian and now the new streamlight pro tac 1L-1AA for my EDC.
Thanks for the informative comment Thomas. I'll check that light out and so far, the Protac has been pretty sweet. No issues science this was posted at least. I'll speak about updates from time to time. Thanks for tuning in! 🍻
Not true. Candela is the total light output. Lumens are brightness. So, you can have a flood and spot with the same candela but the spot will have higher lumens.
@@brucebelvin2058 Google what Candela measures for a flashlight. It is how you measure the throw or distance the beam of light will travel. Light intensity in a given direction. The higher the Candela, the farther the beam of the flashlight will reach. I have found multiple places explaining it in this way.
Great explanation. I have a cloud defensive wml for a rifle that will “throw” a small diameter “spotlight” all the way down my 300’ driveway. On that same weapon…I also have a x300u that will light up my entire garage even the corners. What I’ve notice though, is that my cloud defensive (I believe 68,000 candela) is this….with a pickup truck facing me at the end of my driveway with its hi-beam headlights directly at me….my cloud defensive can OVERCOME his headlights and I can make out a human (or two) inside the cab of the truck. So much so, I can see the color of skin, and most importantly if they have a weapon as well. I don’t know the technical term in lighting that explains that!?! I believe it’s the candela # that perpetuates this function of “overcoming” a light directed at yourself to 1:NOT be blinded by THEIR light…and 2:possibly light blind THEM and 3:absolutely know without a shadow of doubt the number of enemies and exactly what they are up to. BUT….and this is a huge BUT (I don’t like big butts and I ain’t lying) if 1 or two other bad guys are outside of the truck flanking it on each side by more than 20’….I would never know because that high candela cloud light is so focused for distance….enter the x300u, which can’t see the “whites of their eyes” from 300’, but absolutely WILL splash a 50’ circle spot that can make me aware of those wide flanking enemies.
