The CM6 replaced my Kabar I’ve been using for the past 20yrs for hunting and camp tasks and liked it so much I had to buy a second. Makes quick work on quartering a deer.
All of my Esee’s and TOPS’s knives I buy I remove the coating and then I carburize or gun blue and polish. Makes it super smooth to push the blade through wood or even camp chores.
You know it’s kinda funny that the knife was designed for tactical utility but it’s arguably Esee’s best bushcraft knife . That sharpened swedge should throw gobsparks off a ferro rod so 90 degree spine is a moot point.
Have been a esse enthusiast since 1990 , my esse 6 has serve me well for decades of camping related duty from fire prep, food prep and walking stick harvester, own at least half a dozen models , but this particular one (CM6 ) is more a tactical/ fighting knife but i can’t deny its versatility for many other tasks .
Here in KY, all my blades try to rust when I'm in the woods for more than a day. Unless it's a premium stainless steel.. I've even had 420 rust up on me.
Now you talking, I’ve really come to like that style of sheath! Always liked the CM6 design, but in my environment carbon steel blade’s are a pain to maintain. I am accustomed to using a sharp spine, mostly just scraping tasks, rarely for fire steels. Just this week I used a spine to scrape the clear coating from a new axe to refinish it. I do still keep an Esee 5 around in case I feel the need to abuse or Dig with a blade...lol
That's a great knife! One of my favorite carries is the Esee 4 double edged, serrated tactical! Yeah, a mouthful lol. But it's robust, tough, capable of every knife task you can think of and then some! But I gotta say, that CM6 "HAS" my attention... Great video!
I totally agree with the spine not needing to be sharp. My favourite knife is probably my Trc apocalypse, it is expensive but you it can do anything well, don’t have to upgrade the handles or sheath at all, plus trc’s reputation is amazing
you can still scrape a fire steel with the apocalypse too...the trc is designed as a survival knife as to where this one is a combat knife thats why no choil
TRC's knives are so incredibly mediocre and of such poor/generic design it's astounding how much internet hype they get but then I guess MOST of you soft-handed, callous-free kids don't actually USE your tools, just post pics and vids online of them and your "edc pocket dump" of more expensive tools you never use/don't actually know how to use.
@@DB.KOOPER well I like them because they have very good stainless steels (I kinda need that in nz where it rains all year around) but if really near perfect fit and finish and perfect kydex is “mediocre” then I’d love to know what knives you’re using? And I do actually 100% agree with you but I’m not the “most”. I HATE when people buy stuff and don’t use it, why spend so much money on something when you’re not gonna use it?! I believe they’re good designs, unlike tops where the behind the edge thickness makes 90% of their blades similar to a sharpened pry bar
Awesome and great to see the taco style with that thumb ramp. I would like that for the DBK BF 2000 I emailed you about and I think I’d like the paracord wrap diagonally to match the turquoise spacer in the Aurora 2 handle I sent a pic. Holidays are getting in the way of my knife porn 😢
How do you feel about this one vs the Architect 5.5? I’ve always been baffled by the number of people needing a 90 degree spine. I agree with you fully about ferro rods coming with strikers and having other implements to strike with. For me I want a knife that I can carve with for an extended period of time without gloves. 90 degree spines are way too uncomfortable for actual knife use.
I would actually pick this over the A5.5… for design, but the architect in 3v is probably a better all around survival knife. This design just connects with me more for some reason…
Oooh that’s a cool knife too! I’d like to feature that one on the channel so I’ll give you a discount on a sheath (on top of your subscribstar discount) if you send her in. 👍
I like my electric lighters or waterproof matches in a pinch. I keeps couple bics in ziplock bags. I always have ferro rods as well, just never needed em so far.
What if it was 250 in Europe this is around the 242 euro range and for that price there is alot more options like the Tops longhorn bowie for more 20 euros. I really like this Esee but for this price... What your opinion on my situation 😂Knife collecting gets expensive quick
I think they’re pretty comparable actually. Similar materials. Same steel. Different heat that on the Esee with a lifetime warranty. I’d go with the Esee but it depends on which design you connect with more. They’re both great knives. Thanks for watching!
Way too thick especially with that sabre grind. The best Esee is still the 4HM and even that needs to be thinned down maybe some alternate shapes (a sheepsfoot blade would be great) and a new steel (14C28N or 80CRv2 would be my choices). I've been carrying an Esee on rafting and hunting trips here in the PNW for decades. The 4HM is to date their best design hands down.
@@Bill-mw7sh because of this comment, I’m going to throw all my Esees in the trash and delete all my videos on the brand. I only wish that you left this comment years ago to save me so much time and money.

Good to know! I knew there was something different about the CM6 the second I picked it up.
All of my Esee’s and TOPS’s knives I buy I remove the coating and then I carburize or gun blue and polish. Makes it super smooth to push the blade through wood or even camp chores.
I do that on my beckers mainly.

Esee 6 hands down my favorite knife . I like them so much I have given several to friends so they can enjoy them as well
Same… until this one came along. The E6 was always my go to fixed blade to gift.

I do have 3-4 knives I’d like done like your CM6...I’ll E-mail ya.
Makes sense. You could use that sharp wedge for birch dust too. I didn’t even think of that…
I need an ESEE CM-4! As Camp knife and urban concealed carry. Don’t shrink it, just shorten the blade, NOT the handle!
That’s an interesting idea!
ESEE needs to make a 3V or Magnacut version ASAP.
💯💯💯💯💯💯

I love the E4 as well. Really nice size for an all-around camp knife.
Beautiful 😍

Me too! Kind of a happy accident with those handles

Haha that’s totally understandable. Just let me know when you’re ready. 👍
Esee 6 will always be my go to fixie but the Junglas 2 is my back country blade .
I always felt the same way about the Esee 6 until this one snuck up on me. The J2 is a BEAST!

Esee's version of the SRK.
Ironically enough I have not picked one of these up. The 6” is probably my favorite size. I am currently the Lionsteel T6 in K490.

I did have to bring the grind up a bit too. I think the Sheep’s foot in a 4-5” blade would be pretty cool.
Like the knife, hate the tacky logo.
I could live without it.
Esee SUCK. endless videos on YT about the worst knife brand ever.
