I totally agree about translating at times! It can be very effective, if time consuming. As long as one goes to the trouble of finding the equivalent expressions between L1 and the target language, instead of just translating word for word which is almost always doomed to failure. I practise this all the time and it has stood me in good stead, especially at advanced levels. It was about time someone stood up for translation, instead of rejecting it out of hand, as is usually the case with most RUclips teachers. Thanks for the wonderful video, all tips are valid in my experience. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much :).
Yes, I wholeheartedly agree! As long as you're not translating word for word, it can be very useful. I think people are often too black and white about things in language learning. E.g. by saying that immersion is always good no matter the level, or that bilingual dictionaries are evil 😉.
Short and sweet, clear and helpful!
Thank you Max!
Thanks Max!
Thank you, Max! your way of explanation is amazing. 👍👍
Very useful Max. Keep it up!!

Than you Max
I've been waiting for your video. These steps are really helpful. I used to pay attention to the new phrases, vocabulary and taken note of them but revision is pending! Really appreciate your short and powerful class. The punctuation marks are so attractive (?!). Thanks Max.
Thanks for your lovely comment :). Yes, some revision is important ;), but it looks like you already have a very good level!
Thanks for your reply. I've been learning English for few years and I think I'm bit confident while writing. But I'm not yet satisfied with my speaking skill. I have to find out whether it is lack of ideas or failure on construction of the ideas properly into English. Your suggestions are helping and it is really motivating too.
Pleased to see you back, Thanks
I'm happy to be back!
Max! I listened to a lot of tutorial program but as for as about you your way of speaking,
Way of teaching and talking really fantastic. I listened to you since last week.its really fantastic experience with you.thank you so much. Lots regards to you and your mom from India.

Dearest teacher, you really are very professional in doing your job. Your English is very simple and straight to the mind via the heart. Your smile and what a nice smile you have kept me stuck to your videos one or two nights nonstop.
I hope one day you will organize a seminar of teaching English to the lovers of English but not via the net, I mean direct contact seminar. You are splendid! May you be blessed for all what you are doing to help us be native like foreigners.
Thank you for your kind words :)

A really useful lesson as always! And I totally agree with you; translation has an unfair bad reputation when it comes to learning a foreign language!

Hi, Max!
I'm very glad to watch you again.
Explain, please, if i want to say "Thank you for this video", can I use instead of it "Thank you for the video".
Will be "this" and "the" interchangeable in this case?
I'm glad to be back!
Yes, in this case you can use them interchangeably ;).
Thank you for your answer! After it I understand English a little bit more :)
Thank you for the lesson! When I write, for some reason I do not notice my mistakes, although I usually know how to write correctly. It's just a mystery.
The frustrations of learning a language ;)... Don't worry, I know them!
I love you max
🇫🇷 Bonjour,
J'ai étrangement découvert ta chaine grâce à ton commentaire sous la vidéo de Cyprien.
J'ai regardé ta vidéo et j'ai pu comprendre et apprendre beaucoup de chose en anglais.
Je m'abonne tout de suite à ta chaine et je laisse un pousse bleu.
Merci pour ta vidéo. 💘
Merci beaucoup !
It's great if you understood a lot! I hope you find my videos helpful. :)
Nice Video and good advice. The preposition-thing i think is almost impossible to learn for a non-native speaker. There is no logic to it so you just have to learn it by heart and its just impossible to do it for every word. It reminds me of the german article "der, die, das". A non-native speaker will never learn that 100%, so i think we just have to accept that its not possible to be perfect and accept it. That doesnt mean that we should not try to get better every day but it can remind us to just relax a little and to accept imperfection.
I couldn't agree more! We can always try to improve, but our aim shouldn't be to be perfect, or to sound like a native. Communication and the ability to express ideas are most important.
Hi max i hope to be well. I would like to come to Australia.
i love you so much my teachise!!!!?
I love you very much 😘😘😘
goood
👍
Hi Max! Thank you for the class! You look nice 😍
BTW, what are those sounds right at the beginning of the video? I believe it's an animal/bird but I have few ideas what it might be. A swan/duck? Anyway, it was funny :) Thanks again, little Max!!
My pleasure!
Haha, they're sea lions. 😀😀
Oh yes, sea lions indeed :)) Thanks for answering!
But they do sound a bit like ducks or geese! 😂
Hi Max, I'm an Aussie who's always spoken English. However I have a question: When referring to the possessive on people's names, we add an apostrophe and a 's' (Tom's car), and we pronounce the 's' sound. However, when the name ends with a 's' (for example Ross) what do we do? I always understood that you add an apostrophe without an extra s for correct grammar (Ross' car). But how do you pronounce it? (Rosses car or Ross car). I hear public speakers say both, but which is correct?
Hmm... interesting question. I personally would say "Rosses car", but I don't think I would flinch if I heard "Ross car". Considering there doesn't even seem to be a set rule for the written form, there probably isn't one either for the spoken! Hope that helps!

Thank you for watching :)
Your typography is very similar to mine !
😃
Hello Max, Please transcription .Thank you very much, from Turkey
I did subtitles for it. You just need to click the subtitles button (on a computer), or the three dots in the corner then "captions" on a phone or tablet. 😉
Max, which one of the following sentences is correct? (1) Try and do these tasks as soon as possible. (2) Try to do these tasks as soon as possible. In the first sentence, I have used 'and do'; whereas, in the second one I have used 'to do'. Please clarify. Thanks.
They both mean the same thing, but I would say "try and" is a little more colloquial. ;)
Do you now max I was say :I arrived to...but now I got it....thanks max
I'm glad it helped :).
I think, making mistakes is natural when learning something new. We, people, shouldn't be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes shows the weak points in our knowledge. So we should notice our mistakes and eliminate them. One can master a tool by using this tool, and it is impossible to avoid any mistakes when aquiring new things.
👍
On.
?
Like seriously, why can I stop making the same mistakes in English class. Maybe in the future, when I'm 27 years old.
Cha cha chaaaa 3 steps
I like your dolls
Me too :D
Thanks for your efforts.
If I stope making mistakes, that means I am dead. I make mistakes because I am alive.
Yep, mistakes are a part of life! :)
English with Max you want to stop my life, so you want kill me. You can't make that to me. I going to make mistakes.
English with Max,
Hi Max! I am sorry to interfere! Do we need the article "a" in front of the phrase "part of smth"? I used to use it, then I learnt somewhere we do not need it, now I am confused again 😭
Borka Siamese Don't be confused any more because the languages generally and particularly English don't admit by strict rules. I think dear Max agree with me. Thank you for commenting under mine.
Borka Siamese Good question! In my opinion both ways are acceptable ;).
Which accent is this ??can’t recognise the typical UK 🇬🇧 one ?? Is more neutral one ? Interesting !
I'm Australian :)
Ooh Max que chula estas!
Jaja, gracias!
"I am cold" , this sentence structure seems wrong according to me. I can be cold in my general behaviour but not in case of illness. If you are referring illness, the sentence structure should be " I am suffering from cold". This is Indian style. Kindly correct me, if am wrong. I am expecting your genuine view-point, please.
It's actually about temperature here (to be cold, to be hot, etc.).
E.g. It was snowing and I was very cold.
When we're talking about the illness (the common cold), we say: I have a cold.
I hope that helps!
@@EnglishwithMax Thanks a lot, Max! I am just improving my English. I feel difficulty in Spoken English.
You should learn hindi!
Hindi is amazing language 👌
I'd love to! If only I had a lot more hours in the day! :D
Thanks so much
