The official video for 'On The Road To Find Out' by Yusuf / Cat Stevens.
Directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch and Melora Donoghue of Invisible Inc, the video for ‘On The Road To Find Out’ is an allegory for humanity’s journey of self-discovery and the historical events, art, and music that have influenced life and culture. The production of ‘On The Road To Find Out’ used all-natural light, no generators or electricity, and items from the boulder were donated for recycling to maintain an ecological ethos while filming. This video contains the newly recorded and reimagined track for 'On The Road To Find Out' from the Tea for the Tillerman² album release.

Lyrics:
Well, I left my happy home to see what I could find out
I left my folk and friends with the aim to clear my mind out
Well, I hit the rowdy road and many kinds I met there
Many stories told me of the way to get there
Well on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
There’s so much left to know and I’m on the road to find out
Well, in the end I’ll know, but on the way I wonder
Through descending snow, and through the frost and thunder
I listen to the wind come howl, telling me I have to hurry
I listen to the robin’s song saying not to worry
So on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
There’s so much left to know, and I’m on the road to find out
Ooooh oooooh
Ooooh oooooh
And I found myself alone,
Hoping that someone would miss me
Thinking about my home,
And the last woman to kiss me
Sometimes you have to moan
When nothing seems to suit you
But nevertheless you know
You’re locked towards the future
So, on and on I go
The seconds tick the time out
There’s so much left to know
And I’m on the road to find out
Then I found my head one day when I wasn’t even trying ooooh oooooh
Here I have to say, ‘cause there is no use in lying ooooh oooooh
Well the answer lies within, so why not take a look now?
Kick out the devil’s sin, pick up, pick up a good book now
Yes the answer lies within, so why not take a look now?
Kick out the devil’s sin and pick up, pick up a good book now
Yes the answer lies within, why not take a look now?
Kick out the devil’s sin, pick up, pick up a good book now!
Ooooh oooooh
Ooooh oooooh

Yusuf/Cat Stevens, never gets old, never gets off the road to find out for bettering himself and the humanity; spreading love and peace.
Blessed Yusuf - We just sent your original version to our son, out traveling alone for the first time in his 21 years.
Yusuf/Cat Stevens is a living legend.
I'm so glad to live in the same era than him.
better WITH him than without. ( George Harrison "Within You Without You" )
Wisdom put into song !
الله عظيم
This man is such a reflection of what the real world is like.
You know what..... He's always been that way. I was 5 weeks away from seeing him in concert back in the day 1978, until he went off the grid.... still bummed I never got to see him in his prime.
Impressive
@Joyce Hoffman:
This may sound odd but I think the opposite....I think he offers what the "real world" COULD be like..he is an example of dignity, serenity, introspection...but our world these days is chaotic, uncivil, violent, war mongering with much suffering for too many...Yusef offers a very different vision reflecting his spiritual depth..or have I misunderstood what you meant when you wrote he's such a reflection of what the real world is like'....???
@@bryangilson6405 We saw him about 2 years ago. He hasn’t lost it at all. If you get the chance, go see him.
@@bryangilson6405 I got to see him in 1974. As excited as I was to see him and hear these life-changing songs played live, I have to say that it seemed his heart wasn't in it, as if the discontent that was leading to his departure as a pop star was already festering. I saw him again on his 50th anniversary tour--night and day better! The love and mutual admiration flowed in every note and every standing ovation!
At the very moment I needed a "message" like this, it arrived. Thank you. Take the garbage collected in life, and leave it behind.
"the freedom is within oneself. when the soul is free, there is nothing in this world that can bind us." very well said. i really needed this so much. thank you just thank you for always creating art that inspires.
From caterpillars to rainbow butterflies Thank you so much for expressing true love 🌈🌻
Yusuf, you are a gift to all who hear you sing and speak. From the beginning, I loved your unique vocal and writing skills. Blessings to you and your family!
🤝
I just heard this song for the first time...wow what a great song.
This is the kind of gospel music I enjoy most. Beautiful words. Beautiful man. Speaks to the soul.
I love it too, but it’s not Gospel music. I don’t care that it isn’t, and it doesn’t diminish the song in any way.
Absolutely true, Yusuf! Our “Kingdom”, our birthright, is “not of this Earth...”; That doesn’t mean it’s in the sky, it means it’s not physical: it’s in our hearts and minds. Quietness and lack of argument places us there, on demand, forever...
Un video molto significativo..e ..tremendo...della condizione umana!!bello!!!grazie yusuf....ora tradurro' il testo!!
I was JUST listening to “the Wind” when this was posted!!! Kismet!!! I adore every version you can make of this song!! You can’t hide genius!!! 🤗
🤝
English bad sorry. Corona make me strong now and I want hair long now.dont scare about sin and lies everywhere.hai I'm from Malaysia
Yusef(Cat Stevens) I have been with you on your travels of inner wisdom and knowing., since I was fifteen! You are always here for humanity's sake!
My Love, blessings and peace to you, for sharing you soul with ALL of us that love you 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤🌈Keep safe💛🙏🏻🙏🏻
I remember those days, and I was a nomad too. Happy you are here now, to bring comfort and joy again.😀🙏
Same here 💗how are you doing gorgeous hope you’re safe from the virus?
🤗😆
I get the letting go of 'stuff' that drags you down. In life you can only take so much.
I was hoping he'd finally lay down his worldly burden. Wonderful analogy. Thanks for the remake of Tea For the Tillerman. I love the animated characters in Where Do The Children Play. Blessings to you and your family.
Blue Topaz
So cool is He that covers his own song 50 years later and it’s more relevant than ever.
A beautiful statement of life's true meaning. I continue on the road to find out.
Cat/Yusuf is such a beautiful soul...My all-time favourite wordsmith and vocalist. This remake is as good as the original. I grew up listening to his uniquely emotive vocals. Love all his songs - they have a timeless appeal. His meaningful lyrics are more relevant now than ever.
Exactly. Once you realize material items tie you to the Earth, you can become free. Next is emotions and forgiveness.
reminds me of some of Johnny Cash's latter day work..only instead of covering other artists with a new twist, Yusuf is "covering" himself in a new, heavier/darker manner. Love it. Will it replace the original? Hard to say after having been such a fan of it for 25 years. But fortunately there is room for both!
This fits my life perfectly, loved the visual! Two deaths in my family and a house and apartment to empty.
It's just stuff.
Thank you. Life is an emotional journey. Sometimes we get stuck in the details.
May Allah (God) bless you with Peace & contentment, going through hardship and loneliness.
Ameen🤲
What a meaningful comment. Thank you!
Yahweh the Great creator of all. I pray for blessings for all who read this and the author of this music. May you reach out far and do the impossible and bring the lost and confused people home to you. You are the one and only. Praise you Lord Yahweh & King Yeshua the savior. I search not for A good book but The good one.
This is how you can define a reall life in 4 minute with a song and great vedio perfrct
I love the 1970 original, but this edgy, tense redo is the 2020 mood.
The fact that i've been studying Inayat Khan and been listening to Yusuf these past weeks blew me away when I saw that comment in the end.
Simple but very effective message - don't let the material things in this world weigh down your soul. True happiness does not lay in material wealth. Don't become sheeples mesmerised by advertising. This life is temporary, all the wealth in this world is only temporary, so don't sell your eternal soul to that which is meant only for this short life. God knows best...
Yusuf, this is from one of my favorite albums of all time. I love your new rendition. I hope to see you in concert someday before we go on to the next life
🌹
This man his words and his voice got me through the angst of teenage years . Now I love the solace from his music
Come to Islam
Absolutely addicting, I've loved your music since my teenage years .. I love and appreciate your music, lyrics and your beliefs.. Thank you Yusuf Islam, Cat, Steven❣✌
Just sit alongside the road looking at the things that travel

Wow such words!
Very very deep
@BC Songsmith you're right it was originally but Yusuf/Cat Stevens unfortunately took it out and replaced it with "A good book" if you listen to this new version carefully. I prefer his original version. I don't believe he has the same views " No longer wanting to mention the Bible" he used to. Sad but I believe that's the case now.
Thank you, Yusef.
Your music has had a very positive influence on my life.
You are truely a wise man, with a great gift. Much love and thanks for sharing.
It really drives home the baggage we carry and how much easier it would be if we could just let it go. This is a real bluesy and gritty version of this great song, and I love it as much as the original version. Yusuf/Cat Stevens is such an amazing artist and a genius
Ah, the road that leads to satori.
Amazing blend of imagery and music!
And it tooks a lot of our life time effort, inner peace to find out.. Not many has the courage to find out
Wow , just wow .. Imagine having a choice , this and the Original .. Thanks Yusuf .
My time. Like a mirror. Then and now. Cat Stevens
Essentially what Steve/Cat did when the wave pushed him ashore and he followed up on his promise to The Almighty. Left it all behind.
Exactly if you reflect on the line 'pick up a good book now', this song became real in his life. The almighty made this song his whole life and journey. He did pick up a good book actually The good book and it changed his life and everything, gave him the peace he was chasing. I don't know if yusuf had any idea what would happen with his life in future when he was singing this song for the very first time. But it came true miraculously! Just amazing!
This is superbly done 🙏 Such a genius.
Chris:
Well said!
The Believers who have High purpose of Life may get the Clairty over this Thought and can practice over it.
It's All about seeking!
May Almighty God help us Not only in realizing this Eternal Truth but also achieving it as well.

Came here after playing through the entire new album. Really love that he revisited this album with perspective, depth, and just as much powerful emotion as the original. So well done throughout, with this and a couple others like Long Boats my stand out favorites. The video, too, is excellent and a perfect visual.
I would never have thought that this could have ever been made better. I am so glad that Yusf never stops his reflections upon life .....
The road to polishing the mirror of the heart. Letting love shine from your beautiful heart alhamduillah.
I LOVE this version of the classic. It's a heavy blues. Very interesting take on this roughly 50 YEARS after the original. God bless you. You gave me some sanity back in the 70s. You are definitely one person who has walked the earth that has made a real and positive difference.
Its fantastic!! the perils and dangers on the road that we must travel to find the truth, through descending snow though the frost and thunder, and now in these times going within is what will save us all. I love the imaginary in the video,as I watched I hoped the traveler would drop the heavy load he carried and he did.💗 I know we can make it through this dessert if we let go of yesterday. Thank you Yusuf this is brilliant and in tune with our journey on the road we are now facing.
Beauitful comment......🙏✌💖🌈

Thank you Yusuf for a re-imagination of this song . I saw him on the Majic/Numbers tour in Chicago 1976. Then in Dublin in 2007(?) and then again a few years ago back here in Chicago. Along with Neil Young (whom I have seen 37 time) your Rust Will Never Sleep.
Deep fragile heart. I love you man 💘
The video is so meaningful as well, literally a short film.
...such is life....a short film....
@@drew-shourd indeed so...
Doing this... with those lyrics,
tone and mental visuals that have stuck in mind mind from then......
Pure artistry
I just bought the Tea For the Tillerman 2 D2C Exclusive LP Bundle... I CANT WAIT TO WEAR THIS DISC OUT!
Blown away by this. Thank you, Yusuf
Beautiful song, Our conscience is like a raft, that wants to float free and not drown submerged. Accumulating bad weight on our conscience is what can become our predicament in this life and the hereafter. A way to free it is by true repentance and good deeds.
Beautifully put.
Interesting updates to classics, videos just clarifying what original lyrics & music made you think, perhaps this new generation will have more success in losing all the "baggage".
Tank you very much Yusuf Cat Stevens , for your support this song with words call us by the heart for everyone's, bless humanity, nature the substance of God , hope loving each other's kindness, hope for children's, hopes for the Mother Earth merci beaucoup 🌿
Extraordinary music...again!
Wow! Breathtaking ❤️
„Yes the answer lies within
So why not take a look now
Kick out the devils sin
Pickup, pickup a good book now“ 📖👌🏼
Thanks You Yusuf Stevens.
STILL AWESOME - MAKES EVEN MORE SENSE NOW THAN THE ORIGINAL AUDIO. CAT/YUSUF ALWAYS WAS A PROPHET BESIDES A BRILLIANT TUNE SMITH.
The story i heard was that he never did make much of a prophet, as he was always giving it away - very much to his credit say i...
@@maryjane1085 Agreed!
"Kick out the devils sin & pick up the good book now" Great advice Cat, great tune too.
yup, but be a friend to self and don’t beat yourself up [cause other will do that 💯]
it’s all part the process like the black and white chessboard unending for growth
Yup that's the original lyrics this song. Unfortunately if you listen very closely this new version he remade says "pick up A good book now" instead of his original lyrics "Pick up The good book now". He may have changed his views but that won't change how his original chosen song lyrics impacted me. Praise Yahweh
Great Rendition...like this...because it aligns more with now. But, the original still has the same words...🙏
So Glad to hear your Voice. Your Music was some of the first Music I heard! My Mother was a great Believer in your Words of Wisdom and had many Albums. She has been gone since 1995, the Weight of the World was too much for her. Your Music is so Important. Peace, Love and Unity :)
Call me old, but I really prefer the original. But I'm so glad to see the younger musos getting together with the great Yusef /Cat Stevens.
So beautiful keep dragging yourself towards good inspite of all tribulations
Amazing! This new arrangement is exceptional. The original will always be my favorite with this version allowing absolutely ZERO light between the two. A very gritty blues version, totally fresh, as it is classic. It could get play on country or rock radio.
what a beautiful song. thanks for these great songs.
i listened to Cat Stevens non-stop between the ages of 7 and 13, and i love this version of this song even more than the original!
Beautiful song.
Love this reimagining of the '70s more hopeful classic. Both versions fit the zeitgeist of their times. But from a purely technical POV - was delighted when I lost the '1' twice. Made me chuckle.
Bluesy cat Iove it!! Love anything he does..
Such a great, new, swampy version of this profound song
Still as good as ever
Beautiful, just beautiful.
Excellent! Now we just need to pair you up with another artist of your caliber for the greatest duo ever!
His wisdom puts the cutter on the real world in the invisible globe! excllent sound and image footage! thank you
So true , as all your songs , this is A determined , strength , thankyou for your words to music..
Great video and song thank you. 🙏❤️
Since the 60 ies a great artist with songs for ever😎👏👏👏
After just selling our “trophy house” that we thought would make us “happy”, becoming unburdened in the long process of getting rid of those same things and ideas that bound us has been quite liberating.
Amazing song, respect!
I just gave tons of albums to a college student that actually listens to the good ole vinyl records...But I held on to Tea for the Tillerman. Some things I cant let go of, and thats one of them.
of all albums and music I felt I needed to keep, Beatles and Cat Stevens collections topped them all. ALAS, they also add to the "baggage".
Not if they make you happy!
This later life version of an adolescent favorite ... I can't stop watching it
BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE.
LOVE IT.
Beautiful. Meaningful. ❤️Please activate subtitles to reach more people! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Q: When will you begin that long journey into yourself ?
- Rumi
A: On the road to find out
- Yusuf Cat Steven
Me: you genius to find out good man good friend good family good to all.pickup now!
This in-depth song and this powerful video connects me to Chabad melody צמאה לך נפשי
Beautiful, needs another extended version with a bluesy electric guitar solo, would be a great song.
That will be the live show! Hopefully...
@@p8pillon With a good solo it will be an excellent song.
What an extraordinary interpretation of the original! Love them both as they each have different energetic qualities. Wonderful
This song deserves much more views. I love it❤
One of the best ever even if I repeat it hundreds of times
This is a very interesting video. This version is very different from the original, but yusef/Cat still sounds great after all these years. Keep up the good work.
Legendary Indeed!
Very clever!!! This video catches your attention!! The meaning of the lyrics is being projected very good. Makes you think and realize that we leave all material things behind and are on a journey to the end with nothing but ourselves!!
The difference with the first version lies in the wisdom that one gets while growing older. Beautiful. Thank you. 🌹
Really meaningful visual analogy of the 'baggage' we carry with us that binds us and keeps us a prisoner of our own making. We each have the power to free our souls. Great video. Thank you, Cat Stevens, for your inspiritional artistry and spiritual insight. Namaste.
..MUY BUENO...CAT YUSUFF. Un abrazo compañero desde Montevideo Uruguay
Your voice is calming. I like the video....we all carry so much baggage....physically and emotionally.....we got to learn to let it go.
Love it! Weighing ourselves down with stuff is not the way to live.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VERSION !!! ❤
I already pre-ordered the album on ITunes !!!! I discovered you Yusuf at the time of Tea for the Tillerman in 1970. Life has its turns !!!! Nice memories of meeting with you when you came here at AUS (UAE) 14+ years ago !!!
