I gotta say, Joe is one of the only truly honest channels about asking for monetary support like patreon and etc. He and his team don’t try to coat in in gold. He just straight up says, “Hey, this is going to be demonetized. I really just rely on your support.” I respect the hell out of that.
They’re honest as long as they stay on the topic of video games, listening to them speak about politics or even slightly politically-related topics shows a massive weak spot in their knowledge base. Same with when they talk about crypto. They just don’t know what they’re talking about in those discussions. They have the best commentary regarding video games

Between corporate greed and the pandemic, it’s not surprise 2022 was one of the worst years gaming has ever had. So many unfinished games were pushed out by these shameless corporations and they still asked for top dollar. They really thought they could get away with charging more for less. Video games devs need to unionize, not only for the workers obviously but for the consumer.
Seriously though. they really need to work on their work quality in terms of video editing. It just look unprofessional. And is it just me or youtube compression video in general. in 1080 AJS videos looks really blurry as of late. and now this, transparency issues and in others green screen is not replaced with the video background. I know we're getting to view the videos for free. But c'mon guys. Be better. Take it as constructive criticisms.

Felt the need to comment on these. I'm 29, been subscribed to you joe for what I believe to be 10 years (haven't checked for sure) watched every one of these yearly review videos with great anticipation. I'm now 29 with two kids, working full time. Watching very little RUclips nowadays let alone 50 odd minute videos. But, I'm still desperate to watch these even though each video has taken like 5 or 6 sittings because I don't have an hour spare. I still thoroughly enjoy the passion you have for these videos and the lack of bias even though you seriously hate certain types of games. I'm not one for commenting on videos and but I felt obliged to comment. Thank you for all these videos joe and keep going 👍
I have the same feelings when saw the gameplay. Crossfire came in Vietnam about 2010 and become a legendary game before shitty distributor VTC Game gave up the game for hacks and focus on lootboxes. Seeing how the game evolved to this state is the direct insult for all Vietnamese gamers from 2000s

The story of Crossfire is actually kind of interesting. My ex turned me onto the game. She was from China and the game is insanely popular there. Think Fortnite and Overwatch combined when it was at its peak. It’s an old game from 2007 and it’s pretty much an original Counterstrike clone made in South Korea, but it has a ton of different modes built into the game that aren’t player-made mods. The game is actually really fun if you liked those old late 90s and early 2000s multiplayer shooters. But the reason why it’s so successful in Asia is because video game consoles were banned in China for ages so everyone who games does it on PC. And most western games are banned. South Korea wasn’t a big console market, either. So the lack of Western competition and lack of Asia-specific games outside of Japan culminated in a perfect storm for Crossfire’s success. Which, again, is a Counterstrike clone with extra gameplay modes baked in. By the way, you say they didn’t playtest the new game, but it’s the same problem the original game had over a decade ago. There are certain areas in maps where there’s only one way in and if you’re playing the Mutant Tag mode, a guy can just block the entrance so you can’t tag the people inside. It’s hot garbage and was an issue in the previous game. They never fixed it. I haven’t played Crossfire X, but I’m wondering if it’s the same maps from the original just reskinned with a graphical upgrade.
Yeah the new one really lost all true edge and humour. Feels more like old men trying to relive old days but failing to remember what made those memorable to begin with. Is it better or worse though then 3? That is the real question XD

43:33 as someone who used to play the original crossfire game, that's how it worked in the 2007 version of the game as well. If I'm not mistaken, the footage that joe was playing was from the "infected" mode where a random player turned into a superpowered monster which has abilities with faster running speed and higher health points than the non-infected players. The trade-off is that non-infected players can slow the infected players down by simply shooting at them like Joe said in his gameplay. Though non-infected players have limited amount of ammo which made it possible for the infected players to eventually get them so it is not a good idea to separate from other players because more players mean more bullet which mean higher chance of survival (duh). There are areas in the mode that has one (or two at most) entrance which non-infected players can converge and focus on defending the entrances (exactly like how there are multiple players standing in that single area and shooting at the players trying to jump over at 43:36 and at 46:42). The downside to that strategy is that it only takes one hit to infect non-infected players so once 1 player got infected, everybody in that area will be pretty much fucked seeing as the newly infected player will turn around and infect the person next to them and so on and so forth. I had pretty good memories with the original game but it was basically bargain-bin Counter Strike with some unique modes.
Its limited ammo until they added Golden Gatling Gun. VTC Game, the name that every true Vietnamese gamer want to burn introduce that shitty gun and ruined entire mode.
Funny thing about the Callisto protocol's "one player co-op" is that it was technically done before on purpose in a game called psy-ops on the ps2, one player controlled the characters movement, and the other controlled the psychic powers.
I didn't actually know about that feature and I played it a lot when I was younger! Loved just messing around with the powers, too bad about the sequel though.

It's melee combat is broken and doesn't work here since you'll get jumped by multiple enemies and those enemies will hit you with 6 hit combos before you can do anything

It’s an old game from 2007 and it’s pretty much an original Counterstrike clone made in South Korea, but it has a ton of different modes built into the game that aren’t player-made mods. The game is actually really fun if you liked those old late 90s and early 2000s multiplayer shooters.
But the reason why it’s so successful in Asia is because video game consoles were banned in China for ages so everyone who games does it on PC. And most western games are banned. South Korea wasn’t a big console market, either. So the lack of Western competition and lack of Asia-specific games outside of Japan culminated in a perfect storm for Crossfire’s success. Which, again, is a Counterstrike clone with extra gameplay modes baked in.
By the way, you say they didn’t playtest the new game, but it’s the same problem the original game had over a decade ago. There are certain areas in maps where there’s only one way in and if you’re playing the Mutant Tag mode, a guy can just block the entrance so you can’t tag the people inside. It’s hot garbage and was an issue in the previous game. They never fixed it. I haven’t played Crossfire X, but I’m wondering if it’s the same maps from the original just reskinned with a graphical upgrade.
With how AJ ended the video, part of me expected to see OJ pop in and say "hey Joe, did you want to play another zombie game? "

The worst part is that they cancelled Scalebound for Babylon’s Fall. I knew from the moment they announced it that they were making a mistake.

Yeah the new one really lost all true edge and humour. Feels more like old men trying to relive old days but failing to remember what made those memorable to begin with. Is it better or worse though then 3? That is the real question XD

43:33 as someone who used to play the original crossfire game, that's how it worked in the 2007 version of the game as well.
If I'm not mistaken, the footage that joe was playing was from the "infected" mode where a random player turned into a superpowered monster which has abilities with faster running speed and higher health points than the non-infected players. The trade-off is that non-infected players can slow the infected players down by simply shooting at them like Joe said in his gameplay. Though non-infected players have limited amount of ammo which made it possible for the infected players to eventually get them so it is not a good idea to separate from other players because more players mean more bullet which mean higher chance of survival (duh). There are areas in the mode that has one (or two at most) entrance which non-infected players can converge and focus on defending the entrances (exactly like how there are multiple players standing in that single area and shooting at the players trying to jump over at 43:36 and at 46:42). The downside to that strategy is that it only takes one hit to infect non-infected players so once 1 player got infected, everybody in that area will be pretty much fucked seeing as the newly infected player will turn around and infect the person next to them and so on and so forth.
I had pretty good memories with the original game but it was basically bargain-bin Counter Strike with some unique modes.
Its limited ammo until they added Golden Gatling Gun. VTC Game, the name that every true Vietnamese gamer want to burn introduce that shitty gun and ruined entire mode.
Funny thing about the Callisto protocol's "one player co-op" is that it was technically done before on purpose in a game called psy-ops on the ps2, one player controlled the characters movement, and the other controlled the psychic powers.
I didn't actually know about that feature and I played it a lot when I was younger! Loved just messing around with the powers, too bad about the sequel though.
Devil May Cry 3 has it too with Doppleganger style and the Arkham boss fight when Vergil appears

The game is hot garbage to think I pre ordered it 😒. You know whats funny though glen Schofield himself said "prefected melee combat" months before release. It's melee combat is broken and doesn't work here since you'll get jumped by multiple enemies and those enemies will hit you with 6 hit combos before you can do anything

The nice thing about losing all faith in the games industry, is I haven't played a bad game in 5 years... because I don't buy games on release any more. I buy them a year later on discount, patched, well reviewed.
