This is one of the only moments in the while game where you dont feel worried about a centipede or a lizard and all there is to think of is the clouds and the superstructure behind
This moment of the game feels like a gift to all the loyal players who've stuck around since before the DLC released. They were treated to *this* as a thanks from the developers. Gives me chills.
When I first climbed to the top of the tree on my first gourmand playthrough and saw the iterator can in the background with the clouds rolling by, I was amazed. I had already put hundreds of hours into the game before the dlc, I was essentially seeing the world that changed my life a year back from far away, from a new perspective. I was also seeing the outside of this world for the first time. There was so much for my brain to process with this view, that I almost teared up. And while all of these thoughts went through my mind in a span of 5 seconds.... this song started playing. I couldn't handle it. I didn't cry. I straight up broke down. I was a fountain of tears. Tears of happiness. This will forever remain one of the most special memories I have of this game, and of my life. Thank you Rain World. Thank you Videocult. Thank you everybody.
Dude😭
Quite a beautiful comment, thanks for writing this down.

I know no one cares, but, the hidden songs is and will always be special to me. Especially this, not only for nostalgia but because its uniquely from the base game. Downpour has like one unused song but the base game has so many unused songs that while sure most have been implemented through downpour, still have that same nostalgic feeling that you'll never hear it in the base game and it'll always be here, waiting for you to listen to. They have this feeling to them that I cant even begin to describe except for these 2 words: uniquely rainworld.
If you weren't aware... this song is used in Downpour. It's the reason I stayed up there and let the entire song play out.
Very well put. Nostalgic, uniquely rain world... that's what I feel too. And I care! A lot, actually!
Man, I love those songs, I just adore this game
This song in particular is what makes gourmand's campaign worth it
I heard this one just recently when I had been playing the drought mod, had a lizard buddy pretty early on and just as soon as I got out of my shelter with him he was snatched up by a freaky dragon thing and I had to haul ass outta there. Not long after I left this song started playing and I got particularly sad, it was very fitting for the moment.
What color lizard was it? Did it have any standout features? I want to make some art of it.
@@blackkat312 too long ago to remember

Rest in Peace lizard

Made me stop and admire just how pretty outer expanse is, with the iterator can in the background, as me and my snot colored slugpup stood atop the tree. Love this game.
SPOILER!!!
This song is used when you reach the top of the tree once you go back to see your family in journey's end in the DLC downpour. It's the perfect place to use this song because the game is telling it's coming to a conclusion and coming back to your family it's all you have been waiting for.
was just about to comment the same thing! I only realised you could climb to the top after completing the ending, so this song started playing while I brought my two little slugpups down and into the nearby shelter. The song was very fitting
@@emms Which tree are you guys talking about and which character? I don't remember ever seeing a big tree
@@Nerbless With goumand, one of the DLC slugs, you can go to a new region called Outer Expanse after talking to FP. It's the home of the slugcats from the intro cinematic of survivor, and you can climb the big tree you see there.
@@emms Thanks, haven’t played gourmand yet so that explains it
Its just incredible, the sight of Pebble's can in the distance as you stand at a peak. Your journey is over, you made it home. Such a melancholic track, man this game is too good...
Such a perfect mood. If this was Moon's original theme, it sure fits much better than Moondown in some ways. It's slower, in a bare state of chord progression, like Moon's own crippled state of lone functionality. It's frequently silenced, only the motif playing for a majority of the song. Moon is drowned and knocked unconcious daily, only her neurons and slugcat to keep her company.
oh my god, it hadn't even occurred to me that this has the main motif in it. no wonder I liked it so much, it's familiar!
Both songs are, I think, describe Moon in their own perspective.
If you listen carefully I think the artist did some genius work? No? Yes? The Moondown overall sound describes Moon's state to ascension. I recognise it does somewhat sound "from low to high" and got "To not be able to ascend but here I am starving like monk, may able to ascend someday" vibe.
(On contrary with Sundown which sound from high-"you have everything" to low-"you have nothing" vibe. And compared to Random Gods which got "up and down at the same time never reaching His destination" vibe.)
And this song describes Moon's current condition, relative to living things, which does look "pitiful".

Don’t forget the rare but occasional friendly scavenger that may have speared an overseer or two.

Literally godly description, love these explanations! Definitely can hear it too now, aaaa love finding this kind of stuff :)✨
Im so glad this is used now, especially when its in my favorite region.
i kept waiting for it to turn night with my slugpups while this played, a very beautiful experience.
I always thought this would be an amazing track for that last rain deer ride.
Some Somber music for the "Last Time" Slugcat sees the sun before taking a gold dip
Not that he saw it, anyway, there's only one way he could have, and thats on pebble
the last raindee ride has the music "emotion thread" which is very nice and sombre and sounds similar to this
@@ambrosia3907 I'm aware! It's very beautiful! Just this track in particular would sound so good if it was used for that segment as well.
Beautiful view with a beautiful song.
I don't think I've heard this song before, but really it such a good piece.. Hits so hard, and I found it just now! Never will regret those years playing the game. To this day
Found out about the game from one video on tik tok, and my life changed forever. Not for good, not for bad but changed really. With same problems but in a new cycle?
Ok, it gets too emotional. The song is very good for watching stars at night
Drought flashbacks! Drought flashbacks anyone?
Leaping over the small gap with the help of your tail and doing minimal parkour on Sky-Islands like platforms before grabbing a squidcada and crawling through the pipe in the ceiling. Open air greets you, as well as the towering cages set into the earth sprinkled with dull orange-yellow foliage. There may or may not be a wandering beast here on occasion, which do make the long trek along the metal boxes harder, but with the absence of danger everything is calm as a soft comforting tune starts to play. You don’t know what is to come in The Wanderer’s story, but you have hope and are determined to trudge forward through this foresty sanctuary populated with lush vegetation and abominations alike. Slipping into crawlspaces and sliding into pipes, with your squidcada you step forward and the melody shifts into a more ominous tone as you head underground. What splendid mood and timing it provides.
Drought was the first big rainworld mod I played, and I love it to bits ❤️. Use The Wanderer as my avatar and sona for Rainworld, and although unfortunately the story isn’t canon anymore with Spearmaster joining the crew (it wasn’t canon to begin with I don’t think though…?) but the story and characters remain as one of my favorites :)💫✨. Although I may have forgotten a little of it with the release of Downpour, Drought will always have a special place in my heart 💖
When home is close enough to feel.
This would be incredible in a open are with not much obstacles in it, like a area similar to the shaded Citadel bridge, like in the chimney canopy or the farm arrays.
You've Reached Your Journey's End, Perhaps, The Most Significant Thing, You, Small, Weak, Little Slugcat, Will Ever Do. But Don't Be Sad. When One Story Ends, Another Begins. And Hopefully, This Next Story Won't Be As Dangerous As Your Last One~
Relax
Enjoy The View.
I heard this when I got to the top of the tree in OE aka outer expanse I was gourmand I I was holding my slugpups
I heard this up on that tree at the very end of a Gourmand expedition. I had a pup. I was ready to part with him before, but after listening to this song at the top of the tree with him, I didn't want to sleep, because I knew I'd never see him again. I played with him outside the shelter for a few minutes, throwing rocks and playing fetch and throwing him in the air and catching him. After a while, I went to sleep, and even the rewards for completing the expedition just felt empty compared to how I felt spending that time with my pup in that tree.
@@catpoke9557I’m not crying you are
@@brojax_animating ...not wrong tbh
@@catpoke9557 should I just spawn slugpups for playthroughs
When I got to this place as Survivor with 2 pups I was sitting there all cycle, waiting for night. Then I decided to go to sleep in nearby train shelter and a fuckin centipede that I didn't knew about was guarding a pipe so I and my pups got fried. Such a beautiful moment ruined by worst enemy in the game, fuck.
I just stabbed the hell out of that centipede and let my pups eat it👍
Megabased. Fuck centipedes
What a nice leitmotif.
It does sound pretty sweet.
Tried to unlock gourmand for arena content.
Got depression.
I love this game~
Pretty nice song for staying at home on a sunday

Quite fitting in that time as well XD. Calming sadness ❤️
@@the_funky_wandrr Lmao old comment, I had forgotten I had written this... funny as I was literally playing Rain World (Downpour) when you published the comment too lmaoo (I'm playing the O B E S E slugcat, finished the food quest, gonna enter FP's room, wish me luck (I'm gonna get the babies soon yeeeeeee))
Soothing...
Pure goosebumps man..
I think this one's unused too. I have always wanted to get into Rain World modding, specifically making a region. If that ever comes to be, I'm definitely going to consider using some of the unused tracks- some of them of too good to pass up!
Starting with an idea is a really great way to stay motivated and inspired. That's why I started editing; to create a region after a concept of mine.
This is Very late, but if you ever do, make this play at a ruined Scav Toll, to give the player a sense that they just moved on.
This song is so nice it helps me sleep someetimes
Sounds like a hyper light drifter track
This is the song that plays on the mod config screen of modded rain world sometimes. I’ve been searching for it for the longest time. Thank you. Such a good melody and drone, I just go to that menu just to listen to this sometimes
Edit 12/14/23: when I found this on my first goo man playthru a few months back, I was in shock. I just kinda stood there. Downpour has been incredible. What a perfect place to put this song.
Journey's end.
I remember this from the Custom Region Support mod before downpour!
I always spent such a long time looking through the regions, where this would play as you browse. Its just how I'll remember this song
Glad its in the game now. In such a cool place too!
The little slugcat cautiously scales up the tree, taking a vantage point to look for any familiar landmarks in this unseen land. slowly gliding their head to the left, and then the right.. suddenly, they lock onto something in the distance. first a giant tower, and then suddenly.. they saw it.
A giant iterator structure, now fully visible if for a mere minute, it was strangely beautiful of a sight.
To think, this slugcat went from a lone child lost to the world, to a Survivor.. if they knew any better, they would probably shed a tear or two.
And now, their journey is nearly over. they were almost home, holding on to the hope of seeing the ones they love, all waiting for their return.
The track when I'm messing with mod config. I love this song
this track actually fits the moment so well its insane
this song gives me so much joy
Feels very hyper light drifter
I always wondered what happens when a God falls. This song answers that very well
:)
this is a love song.
Primeiro vídeo do Diggo. :'(
You kniw how fitting it would be if *gourmand* was the last slugcat in the campaign instead of saint?
Thanks, andrew.
SPOILERS FOR SURVIVOR AND GOURMAND (DLC INCLUDED)
There's something so special about Outer expanse. I think one of the main reasons is how gorgeous it can look. Apart from sky islands, you never really get to see so much plant life, especially ones that don't try to eat you. Most other regions always had this feeling of that you are in some kind of lost civilization, This one, despite still having some man made looking structures, the plant life and land for once actually feels like you are in some kind of mystical forest. I like how it starts out with the feeling of every other region, a lost civilization thats now abandoned and taken over by nature and wildlife. But it slowly shows itself to be an extremely healthy and beautiful land with probably a balanced food chain. Goes from the dark blue gloomy sky similar to Farm arrays to slowly showing some incredible plant life till the sky goes bright orange with colourfulness in almost every direction. And despite being a late game region, I love how the hostility of this region isn't too high. Regions like the exterior, five pebbles and subterranean are late game regions so it makes sense for them to be hostile than others. But this one feels more calming. Allows you to appreciate the land a lot more which is hard to do with sky islands simply due to the amount of threats. It really helps emphasize the fact that you are nearing the end of your journey. After all you have went through, you're finally starting to come out of the struggles as the land around you become less and less hostile while scenery becomes more and more beautiful. Even better if you've befriended the scavengers, knowing that even your silly friends are here in these beautiful lands. The cherry on top is the rain no longer being lethal and instead, very light rain occurs in the area. The the thing that you feared the most, a ticking time bomb till death unless you get to a bunker in time. Now no longer does that and instead, The rain now being gentle and even being beautiful now adds a feeling of peace. It is how rain was always meant to behave and you finally got it.
I am also very glad I missed this song on the Gourmand playthrough. Because it made it way more impactful when I was here on the tree as Survivor with my one slugpup looking at the superstructure in the distance. While I obviously first experienced this region as Gourmand. I definitely enjoyed it a lot more as Survivor since I took a lot more time to explore the lands with my single slugpup that I somehow found in the exact first bunker in Outer expanse next to the gate. While all the Slugcats types are unique in their own ways, Survivor will always hold a special place in my heart. Being the Slugcat where I first learned how to survive, how to use spears, how to defend myself against predators and everything else when it comes to Survival. Climbing that tree, hearing this song play while me and my slugpup look at the superstructure really emphasizes how far I have come. When first separated from my family and now in the cruel world, I was scared, inexperienced, fled from every predator and had trouble with moving. Slowly I started getting the hang of it, becoming more agile and ferocious and knew how to better defend myself. And now, with the land becoming my home, having collected almost all the passages. I was now fully experience, knew how to walk through the lands easily while being able to kill most predators with ease. Even after replaying as Survivor for the DLC content. I still found new things to learn such as tuck and roll and new ways to fend off predators. My little Slugcat has learned through so much. I also felt very happy to take care of the Slugpup. It reminded me when I was first inexperienced and scared. I didn't wish for it to face the cruel world alone like I did.
And eventually we made it home. After everything, it was all worth it. The beautiful lands we call the Outer expanse is our home, and we wouldn't want it any other way.
Thank you Rain world. Even if you aren't too popular compared to other games I know. You will always be the game that stays in a special place in my heart.
Whenever i get to the top of the tree i yeet my self off of it
journey's end
Kind of sounds like Minecraft music.
Does this also have the sundown leitmotif?
i don't think so. doesn't sound like it to me, unless it's reversed or something like that
where does this song play in the game?
