Maybe I'm crazy, but I just bought it mainly for photography, as a travel camera, to take on a motorbike, to support another FF camera. Also for its 12-28, unique on the market for lightness and performance.
My Z30 overheatesd using it inside when the HDMI cable was connected when videoing. I used a dummy battery and usb c charging and it worked great. So when I moved this camera from the studio I had no overheating unless it was directly in the sun and recording would stop around 30 minute mode. The red talley light will start flashing to let you know what is going wrong. Also in the menu when you have potrait mode will inavtivate some buttons when the lcd screen is flipped to the front. At night when driving through the City of Lights iI recorded 118 minutes straight. Chopped it down to 42 minutes and it has been working like a champ. Good glass does wonders but like the Nikkor 28mm F/2.8 the best. Cheers!
I think I’ll be able to manage without the EVF… my wife is a new gen photographer used to the iPhone…the other perks of the z30 far outweigh the evf for me and my wife
Definite improvements in design and function in Z30, however lacking evf and perhaps slightly less quality in mic / usbc cover flaps. Users for this camera likely won't miss the EVF. Perhaps they will make a newer version adding the evf back like a higher end Z50ii with vari-angle screen someday. For now it is likely better to get Z30 for the rotating screen alone plus other features. I bought a Z30 which fits well in a cage as well, which I got, but you don't need the cage for most users. I also have kit lens plus 18-140mm for a great travel cam.
Z30 is a really cool camera. Only downside is the limited lens selection... especially if we are talking about budget options matching the price of this body.
@@mihajlojovic8631 Yes it’s a DX (APS-C) for the Z-mouth Z50/Z30/Zfc I prefer this one over the (standard) kit lens. Vocal range is nice to, landscape-street 24mm and light 1.7👌

Which cameras or camera do you recommend me the most to buy? It whould be good if camera does good in a bit dark room. I don't want to buy high end phone as camera (it sucks as webcam on my pc where I have shure sm7b).
Interesting that it took this long to catch up to an a6400...minus the evf but I am considering one just because they are cheaper than an a6400 on the used market while being in better condition. That should tell you all you need to know about what the market thinks about the products. You can prefer the Z30/50 but still hard to beat real time AF from Sony in E10,E1, a6600/64/61/6700. All in all a quality product whose price has dropped considerably in one year while Sony a6400 plodding along at same price as when released.
Hi. Thanks, you are addressing my last comment! I'm looking forward for the video. Hope there will be screen recording and differences between Z30 and Z50.
Hello, I want a camera for casual photography and for family vacation. For that, the Z30 seems to be the perfect one. But lateral i may want to explore more amateur wildlife photography and maybe even astrography. So, considering that do you think i will be missing the EVF for serious photography? Should I get the Z50 in that case? Note: i am not a Vlogger or content creator. But i have not used a camera for more than 10 years now. Using only my smart phone.
It depends , if you are not used to evf u don't need it, it is good to have as a future proof feature , for wildlife DSLR might be better because of faster AF and cheap long focal length lenses , would recommend d3500 or previous d3000 cameras that are very light , cheap have pretty good kit lenses, and they have something that many people forget :flash which is very useful even in daylight for filing out shadows. In short DSLR for wildlife,z50 future proof , z30 casual .
@@bhanuprakashande9 I like it. It's very good. Though I haven't explored it's full potential I could say. Lack of type c port is not a big deal breaker for me. I am able to manage without that ..
"Basically unlimited recording time, depending on how fast your battery runs down". I just purchased the Z30 a few days ago and i was shocked at how little recording time you get from this camera, 4K about 30 minutes (if you are lucky) 1080p 120 a little better, obvious 1080p at 60, 30 and 24 are going to give you more recording time, but even at 1080p 60 i was getting the red battery low indicator (last bar) after about 30 minutes of recording a few clips. Another thing that bothers me about this camera is the charging time, depending on what you read, it can be anywhere between 6 hours and 7 and half hours to recharge a battery through your PC with the USB cable that Nikon gives you (USB C to USB A) because obviously you dont even get a battery charger with this camera. I really like this camera and i understand (now) that battery life is a real issue with mirrorless camera's, however the i did not expect to have to also purchase a dummy battery just so i can actually use the camera for blogging without the camera over heating and turning off and also paying for 8 more batteries to be able to record more than 30 minutes of 4K or one hour at 1080p (apparently) right now i al looking at buying a powerbank and a decent USB C to USB C cable to use instead of the power hungry batteries this camera gives you.
Is it possible to hook up headphones to the z30? Via the USB-c? Looking to use this to record video sporting events as well as vlogging, any reservations?

You can with Panasonic G80/G100

Mechanical, it uses an electronic shutter for silent mode.
