When I woke up this morning, I thought "I need to try one of Nili's bread recipes as a hot dog bun today". I opened up your page and saw this. I love it when a plan comes together. I can't wait to try them out and give you a shout-out on my channel so that people come check this video out.
@@IndigoNili they are in the oven right now. One lesson I’ve learned is to not have three cups of coffee before attempting to smooth out the buns. My spatula technique was pretty shaky. 😄
THANKS Steve for sending us here! RUclips & their recommended video formula needs SERIOUS work! I've NEVER have been recommended a video to watch for this channel. It's awesome to find a fellow PNW RUclipsr that offers helpful recipes for the Ketogenic lifestyle!
I have made the butter bun recipe for hot dog buns and they turned out wonderful! I used the twinkie size and they do work well for normal size hot dogs. Thank you again for all your recipes and experiments!
I have purchased various pans with mesh and like some of the other comments, they were impossible to clean and actually parts of my buns would burn even though my oven is calibrated to the right temperature. I always have a large roll of heavy duty oven foil and I decided to just make a few long tubes that would be like a baguette pan. And depending on the length of my tubes, I will put in two or three hot dog buns with a space in between. I do spray the foil and they came out very nice, never as nice as Nili's but quite "hot dog-ish" in nature!
YOU Madam are a ROCK STAR!! SO thankful for Your questioning mind & thorough experimentation!! Thank You Thank You Thank You & MORE blessings upon You all!! Summer fun on the horizon for us keto ppl!!
I love all your recipes and experiments! I also have done some experiments with hot dog buns. I've found using real egg yolks gives the buns more flexibility, I had trouble with them breaking when I cut them before adding the real egg yolks. I also found under filling the mold wells made them a better size for the hot dogs. I would like to thank you for all your hard work bringing us new ideas!
Wow! I just made up a batch of these buns. The are remarkably similar to standard flour-based buns. THANK YOU, Nili, for your work in developing and testing these recipes. I SO appreciate having this and the other bread options that you have given us.
I made the buns in a baguette mold I bought in Amazon leaving an empty space in the middle, so in every baguette well I made 2 buns. Hi Nili, Over the past month I have tried your butter bun recipe for hot dogs and burgers. The worked out perfectly. I am all keto and they held up really well. I found on the hot dogs using the LURCH 5-inch 6 bun mold worked great. I fill them a little from the top and they come out with the right amount of bread for a perfect hot dog. The same for the hamburgers, I fill them a little less and they come out perfect. Not too much bun for the burger. This has been a game changer for me as I like burgers and hot dogs a lot. Thank you for the recipe.
I have the smaller bun “Twinkie” style mesh pans and I find they are the absolute perfect hot dog bun size. It’s true the hot dogs we buy hang out a bit out of each end but I’ve never really been a huge bun type person I think I’ve always just seen them as the thing that holds the hot dog and all the yummy toppings including chili and cheddar cheese and some sour cream…delicious!! So I’d much rather my first bite be mostly weiner and a little bit of bun vs biting into a bun and not even hitting the weiner which some buns are like. Now for the bratwurst or honey garlic sausages we’ve found a couple of unique ways to have them in the smaller buns either slice them into small disc shaped and cook them with some cabbage and onions and serve them in the bun like that or slice them and have them with sautéed onions and peppers which is absolutely delicious as well or slice then lengthwise so they aren’t as wide and then have them stick out the ends of the bun. We found if we leave them whole they are too wide for those smaller buns so slicing them in half works fantastic. Plus any leftover hot dog buns double as a terrific sloppy Joes bun or a sub bun. I thoroughly enjoy all your comparisons that you do it really helps me to learn how to tweak all my recipes without having to spend a lot of money on failed attempts. I know I can make bread pudding from failed attempts and many other things but it’s so much better when I can have success on the first attempt, makes me think I really know what I’m doing. Lol! Thanks again! 🥰❤️🇨🇦
I grew up eating a lot of hot dogs and bratwurst, it's part of my culture and since going low carb I have been eating hot dogs on a plate. I can't wait to try this. I can just imagine biting on an actual hot dog bread I can eat ❤️❤️❤️
I love your Hawaiian Roll recipe the best as for as taste and texture. I know everyone is different, but for me they have the best flavor and are easy for me to swallow. I use a very large scoop and put in a 13x9 pan and get large dinner rolls. I cut one the other day and used it for a hot dog bun so am going to order the hot dog pan and have a true hot dog bun. By the way, your Carnivore Egg Noodle recipe makes great chips when fried. Thanks for all your great recipes!!
Very yummy! Good job! Check out “Low Carb Spin” version of your bun recipe for hot dogs and hamburger buns. Your channel is linked in the videos description box
I had hot dogs for lunch, before I saw this video. I had small slices of egg white bread. I mixed my condiments together (mustard, sf ketchup and dill pickle relish). I sliced my hot dogs into diagonal slices. I took a small piece of the bread, smeared it with condiment spread, then a slice of hot dog and it was really good! Your buns look great!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You have perfect timing. I can now go to summer BBQs and camping with friends and family and participate with complete hotdogs 😎. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it all with us. 😀
Dear lawd, I just clicked on the link for the bun pan. $45!!??? Crazy!!! Will wait till I can find a cheaper one, Thank you for your recipes. You always make it look amazing and easy!!

Nili! I had to jump on here and tell you that I received my acacia powder and made these buns today and oh my lawdy they are my all time favorite and I’ve tested them all. These are so wow! Thank you! 💚💚💚💚💚
Maybe you could just fill each well a little less and make a couple hamburger buns with the extra. Looks good but definitely too much bun in my opinion as well for a smaller hot dog but I like the length better than the donut smaller size pan...hmmm. Thanks for the video!
I haven't really been missing hotdog buns, but now I want some! I think I would fill the pans less. I think I would want a bit more hot dog to bun. And maybe I'll toss on some sesame seeds. So many options to customize it to our likings. Can you tell me if you have any special tweaks to pizza crust? I used your bread recipe and loved it, but wondered if you had any ideas for getting more of a crustier crust.
Cool recipe, I just don't know if I'll buy the molds. I have the hamburger buns version and they are impossible to clean! Do you have any tips for cleaning them?
I rinse them to remove any large crumbs and then pop them in the dishwasher on the top rack. I just lay them over any glassware or whatever I have on the top. Works out great.
Nili, I just made your Butter Bins 2.0 and they are wonderful! Can I use one of these hot dog bun recipes for hamburger buns using the same silicone mold used for the butter buns?
I love watching your recipe videos!💕😋 I wanted the 6.5 large mesh hotdog bun mold but it was $45.00. 😲 So I went down a size to the 5" bun mold and it was only $20. My husband wants a bun for his Italian sausage. My family prefers the butter bun loaf recipe with extra allulose. I use it for everything but pizza crust.
I do wish you would include the recipe here on RUclips - I'm allergic to dairy, and I hate watching videos only to find halfway thru that i can't use this recipe.
Hi aniline, just wondering what is acacia powder, and what affect does it have on blood sugar? I love your recipes, and have acquired many of your suggested products. They are all great.
Enjoyed your videos on the egg bread adaptations of ME’s recipe. Do you have links to the egg white protein, and the whole egg protein? Also, just noticed you’re just down the road from us (Aurora, OR)! Cool!
$45 for that pan! Yikes, not hot dog is worth that. There has to be a cheaper way. I think an egg white wrap would work well for wrapping a hot dog in.
I just came across your RUclips today! Do you have a video or blog post where you talk about what each ingredient does, compared to say Maria's Emmerich's original recipe? I'm a fellow kitchen experimenter so I'm curious about why you have the different fibres or egg yolk powder for example. We can't get all those ingredients in Australia (eg. butter powder, egg yolk powder), so I might have to try some sub's. thank you!
Hi! I have done this recipe multiple times. I don’t own a stand mixer. I beat the mixture for ten minutes with hand mixer to get stiff peak. The mixture flattened out right away the second I added egg yolk powder(I don’t have whole egg powder)and butter powder. Any thoughts?
Why not just make bread and slice it instead of the big bun. But I’m sure it would be great for subs or philly steaks something along that line. And thank you for the recipe appreciate it
I have truly enjoyed all of your content. I wonder if you have seen, or have tried any of the keto breads and buns that are now available at groceries? I do not have a gluten allergy, so these alternatives are quite attractive. I have tried some and they have not interfered with my keto journey. I must say though that I have lost the weight I wanted to and am now on a maintenance type eating plan. Just curious if you have any input?
I tried this exact recipe except for replacing acacia fiber for fine powdered psyllium husk and it turned out very small, dense and dark. I used the exact same egg white and butter powder you have. I don't get it. Waste of ingredients.
How do you store them? I took some camping, froze them first, but they were a little sticky on the outside. If you're not going to eat them immediately, how would you store them?
Ma'am, forgive my forwardness for saying so but I can definitely confirm that you have a spiritual oppression of your home environment but sadly I only am able to sense not act upon such matters. Perhaps you may be able to reach out to someone who has expertise in such matters. The oppressing force while likely not malevolent can yet affect the moods and attitudes of those in your home. I pray you find an immediate resolve to this matter.

I would use mong bean powder instead of arrowroot. Arrowroot has the glicemic index of 56 and mong bean is 25.

I've been making flat breads on a sheet pan, using the butter bun recipe. Then I cut the bread into rectangles, about the same length as the hot dogs.

I usually slice my dogs down the center and put 2 dogs in each bun. =)

Can you substitute oat fiber for the acacia fiber? It’s what I have on hand.

What is the scale you are using? I need to get a new on and really like yours.
How well does the buns freeze a defrost. Is the texture still good?
