Most social workers don't do this and are held accountable by the social work board since they are licensed professionals. The reason why some people tend to dislike social workers is because 99 percent of "crazy" people had their kids apprehended by a social worker or were referred to the psych ward by a social worker. You need to be of sound mind just to be able to treat people. But blame it on the social work profession instead of taking responsibility for your own shortcomings.

After grad school, had 2 supervision sessions a week with supervisors that I had to pay for myself. Can't bill insurances until I get my full license. I also had to do 2500 extra hours on top of extra classes for my addictions license. Whole process after my undergraduate has been about 7 years of supervision for all my licenses and specialized training. If I want to specialize in other forms, it takes longer. I would argue that the best mental health professionals never stop seeking peer support and still has a supervisor on hand they can reach out to even after they get their full license.

Just so everyone knows, many people become social workers to help themselves unravel their jacked-up childhood. Same with people who become Psychologists. They want to "help others," but really that need is to fix themselves through others or to distract them from their lingering psychosis. Not all, but many!

OR, was there a legitimate study being done on teens and she and the other social workers were doing research undercover. OR perhaps something more sinister? In any case I would love to see the story as a documentary. Keep us informed!

It often starts off with damaged people having a deep interest in the psychiatry field, because they want to understand what happened to them and why they feel like they do. Many follow the notion of ''I'll help myself by helping others", so get their degrees or diplomas in social work or psychiatry.
But they're not too good at it because they haven't worked themselves out, not conquered most of their problems.
It can be a life-long trend, doing another degree, getting counselled themselves, trying another job but always in the same industry. Often a lot of failure and repeated steps are involved. It's compulsive, self-perpetrating and not good for themselves and not good for clients.
Psychology and psychiatry have deeply entwined in their college courses traps to snare and expose these people, because many decades of experience has shown they are the very types NOT wanted in the field.
But of course, many slip thru the nets and know the answers to apply to the trigger questions.
So it can be a lifetime of "the Peter Principle", the unqualified and incompetent in mid-level jobs of social work or psychiatry, doing very mediocre work, achieving very mediocre results with clients or even making their problems worse.

I'm 29 (just transform into the age 4 days ago) and couldn't bare to imagine re-enrolling a high school just to hang around with 16/17 year olds due to my trauma of teens that harass me for being mistaken as a college freshman out in public before (18/19 year-old) for example and wanting to relive those tragic years again! I may only been to college for a year right after graduation back in 2013 as my mother even went with me for support but really do miss it as I got along with other students and even adults near my mother's age and felt at home way more than older teens that can be mistaken as adults in underaged bodies and still have a phobia of teens to this day due to being sexually assaulted, starred at, & even mistaken as a child to them due to my short-stature and feel way less comfortable around them than adults! Heck, even when I pass by an Academy School around where I live, I try to avoid eye-contact at all times just so I wouldn't attract any type of attention to the students because of how unpredictable they can be and putting my head down as I snakel my way to the grocery store I need to walk to &/or at home! 🏡🏃🎒
I'm just relieved Shelby hasn't preyed on any of the students while she impersonated as underage because she clearly looks as young as 19 at best and wouldn't EVER mistaken her as a 13 year-old!
She definitely needs to see a professional as much as I despise that word in jail and becoming a sex offender for a short period even even though she hasn't touched any of the high school students inappropriately but to prevent being around any regions in her city where teens under 18 are present and to think cautiously of her actions. Her mental illnesses is NO PASS for the way she's acting as I'm a man whom struggles with social / generalized anxiety, clinical depression, C-PTSD, & suicidal thoughts even wouldn't act upon and yet, prefer to be around other grown men than older kids that can lie about their ages to take advantage of me as that has happened a few times in the past and still have that trauma being around adolescence.
It wouldn't be an issue if she wanted to hang around 18-20 year-olds as an example since they're newbies in college as college-aged and adult teens even but seriously don't understand why she would pull the Peter Pan Syndrome to avoid adult responsibilities.
    Thurs. Dec. 14. 2023 @ 5:20pm. (4 days after I became 35 months clean). 💝

In my experience as a graduate-level nurse, I’ve come across many social workers with severe mental health issues. It’s often enough that they enter the field as a means of trying to help people who are at risk of suffering the same traumas they underwent. However, if the trauma involves strong neglect or sexual exploitation, all bets are off. And when I worked in mental healthcare, it was fail-proof that all of the social workers were to some degree, pretty deranged. For example, all of them believed sexual criminals could be rehabilitated and many of them were quick to latch onto a male employee as a sexual partner.
