Avoid coastal countries if you don't like the hot and humid weather -how to say thanks in the local language -they students wear all white to school -they country is a Muslim conservative country -you hate crowded markets(busy markets are always crowded even the farmer markets in US) Thanks for sharing these pointers about the country but You could have done a better representation of the country. My humble opinion Sir😁
Drew pretty disappointed with your video and review about Gambia. I am from India, but I still love Gambia and totally disagree with what you have portrayed in the video. Tida was nice and respectful lady.
He’s being honest nothing wrong with that lad. It’s his experience. Also I didn’t know Gambia was such a beautiful country, however the sex tourism part caught me by surprise.
They go to other countries and visit the worst parts and explain how terrible it is there. But if they go to Los Angeles, California they would visit Hollywood and the best restaurants in California and tell you how amazing it is here. But they won’t visit the homeless tent cities where people are shitting in the middle of the street, using drugs, and disease is running ramped. No, they would never show you that part of America.
No, they don’t talk about slavery in America, child sex trafficking, or drug abuse all across America nope. They will do 1 little story in the news 300 people busted in child sex trafficking ring and then you never hear about it again until they bust another one. People pretend this is not happing in America 😂
Bla xit always has something nice and lovely to say about The Gambia on her you tube channel. It she is more knowledgeable about The Gambia. She was born and raised in the UK and she now resides in the Gambia with her family. Drew's perspective of West African is coming from a Western mind. His understanding of West African is primitive.
Thank you for saying this because has much has I love his videos. I notice that disturbing trend of him speaking bad about the African countries he visit.
I would definitely like to say what @Blaxit has to say about this video. You are right, they are definitely coming from two different experiences and perspectives! 🙏🙏
@tweety tweety that is very sad. Africa does have alot of work to do. More awareness, education and enlightenment will get rid of most of our African negative ideas such as child marriage. Nevertheless Africa has beautiful stories to tell.

Funny, because every person I know who`ve visited the Gambia had nothing but good things to say about it. I also know people who return year after year.
I currently resides in the USA and this video will not deter me from visiting the Gambia, creating my own experience and forming my own opinions. See you soon Gambia!!!
This video is appalling. It is clear that the protagonist has not spent more than a few hours only in The Gambia. Sex tourism is there (and the fault is of Western people and colonialism), but there is so much more to the country. I did not find it dirtier than any other place, there's hundreds of clean and enjoyable (even luxury) resorts and bars, the historical sites (connected to slavery or even going back hundreds of years) are incredibly interesting too. Another very important thing: The Gambia is a majority Muslim country and everybody is definitely very religious, but connoting it as conservative is misleading. Women enjoy large freedoms and wearing the veil in public is a choice for most of them. The relationship with other religions, including the Christian, is mostly friendly and very close. My impression is that the author of the video decided to spend just a few hours in each West African country he was passing through in order to maximise the number of videos he could publish out of his trip (and therefore the views and money he could make out of it). The demonstration to this is that traffic is very widespread in the urban area of The Gambia, making it almost impossible to travel half the country in 2 hours time. It's just a scam. Try to be more respectful of the people and places you portray next time because you have the responsibility to depict Africa in a correct way, considered that the misinformation about the continent is already widespread among ignorant Western people. Thanks.
i lived in the gambia for a short while.it was amazing. i went from canada, so it was a huge change for me. to experience the gambia by living there amongst the locals. i saw the whole country
Drew, thank you for visiting Gambia and shining some light into this country where I was raised for over 18 years and have returned after 9 years abroad in London. I wish you were able to see Gambia for the multicultural country that it is. I’m a fan of your travel page but I have to say that for Gambia and Sierra Leone, the two countries I call home, you’ve done nothing but shine bad light on these countries. You showed the dirt in Gambia in a very specific part of The Gambia. Why didn’t you also show areas like Senegambia, Bijolo, Cape Point etc where the beaches are much cleaner than what you’ve shown (except when the tide is high and spits things out again like every other country). You’ve shown us in this video Tanji and what looks like Banjul or Serrekunda. The busiest market areas of The Gambia with poorer standards of living. I advice anyone looking to travel to any locations, to also consider that some or a lot of these countries are divided and certain areas aren’t where you will be staying! It’s like when I went to Athens and I was disgusted but then I went to another part of Athens and liked it. Regarding Sierra Leone, you complained about the whole journey and the bribery. Yes, bribery exists because people are poor but you went through the unconventional route and I don’t remember you showing the daily life, party life and the beautiful mountains and beaches the country has to offer. Did you know that Sierra Leone also has a massive waterfall which was recently discovered and one of the biggest in Africa? Again, I’m a fan of your work and admire where you’ve travelled but please be more considerate of those living in these countries and how much they are tired of hearing “sex traffic workers”. Be sue let’s face it, America has that too but we focus on their food and national parks don’t we?
Also, you can’t see the whole country in 2 hours because traffic alone from the airport to Senegambia is at least 1 hour considering the traffic in Brusubi. I have a long list of things against what you’ve said in this video. Appalled! Did you even try going to Makasutu or Kunta Kinteh or James Island? No, you barely even showed Cape Point!
Shout out to The Bag Family. They're the main expats in the Gambia that opened a lot of people's minds up to wanting to visit and live in this beautiful country

They maybe living in hut out in the forest but it sad that the UK and America are the weathiest countries and we have people living on the streets. That is no comparison to a third world country.
because in Africa poor people can build their self-made huts but in this sh*thole Europe is everything forbidden. I heard about a homeless man who built a hut in the forrest, someone found it and called the police and the homeless was not allowed to stay there. African people are lucky, they have a kind of freedom that we don't have.
I hope that other wealthy Muslim nations invest there to curtail that type of tourism. After all, Gambia has the ocean, that in and of itself is a selling point, not to mention the peaceful personalities of the people.

We can't lie about that, we do have a sex tourism market here. But, we aren't the ones who do it. It's the other west Africans who reside here (not all, but many) who do that.
@Andrew Turay Oh? How do you know that? Have you ever seen me, met me or even been to The Gambia? Please, this is getting pathetic. My brother, let me add that when a person writes 'I beg to differ' and you wanna reply to that, you're supposed to say "I bet you're not different'. The same country you're shitting on is the same country who speaks better English than you😂😂😂 That's sad.
Your pronunciation of the Gambian words was superb, Drew. Very impressive. I've always suspected that Westerners were pretending not to be able to pronounce African names just as a subtle way of putting people down. We need more lovely ones like you!
That's his experience and perspective. How are you going to be disappointed with his experience. That is why we have so much issues in the world because people don't believe that people are entitled to their own viewpoints. I would love to visit the Gambia soon because I have heard great stories and I will develop my own opinions.

My favourite thing about Gambia are the provinces. It feels like you are in another time and place. But it’s the rare side of Gambia that tourists don’t experience.
There are so many things to address in this video; 1. There is no way you've experienced half of the country in 2 hours. Two hours doesn't even get you from the capital city to my hometown. 2. You can't go to the busiest parts of the country then complain about crowds. 3. Yes sex tourism is a problem but the it's not a major problem. At least it's not something hindering you from enjoying your holiday. It's not like sex tourism only exists in Gambia. 4. You can't make a short video ignoring all of the things that make the country great and then conclude you don't like it. 5. Stop complaining about the heat, like it's Africa what do you expect? Please give a fair representation of the countries that you visit. Show both the bad and the good parts. Yes sex tourism is an issue but you've ignored the nature, the birds, beaches, history and buildings.

We were surprised to experience how warm and friendly the people are in Gambia. 🙌
The you go to Africa and see grown adults smiling and you want to tell the world how horrible of a place this is 😂

Exactly
All he does is speak bad. Why can't he just stick to Europe? Africans tell their own stories.
@tweety tweety that is very sad. Africa does have alot of work to do. More awareness, education and enlightenment will get rid of most of our African negative ideas such as child marriage. Nevertheless Africa has beautiful stories to tell.

My home land the Gambia. Will be going to the beach tomorrow. Always good warm weather for me👌
This video is appalling. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment, I used to watch Drew’s videos, but after this one I just view them all as unreliable now & have tuned out

Because let’s face it**
Also, you can’t see the whole country in 2 hours because traffic alone from the airport to Senegambia is at least 1 hour considering the traffic in Brusubi. I have a long list of things against what you’ve said in this video. Appalled! Did you even try going to Makasutu or Kunta Kinteh or James Island? No, you barely even showed Cape Point!
stop whining and be an adult, bad things happen, pointing them out bothers you because the truth hurts.

@@kaceeotero3629 I know what he saying. Just because some part of Africa is 3rd world does not mean they are homeless. They maybe living in hut out in the forest but it sad that the UK and America are the weathiest countries and we have people living on the streets. That is no comparison to a third world country.
baye Niass 👍🏾
because in Africa poor people can build their self-made huts but in this sh*thole Europe is everything forbidden. I heard about a homeless man who built a hut in the forrest, someone found it and called the police and the homeless was not allowed to stay there. He just being honest
Is it not trye
@Andrew Turay I have no idea where you learnt you grammar or where you had that bad experience but as a person who's lived here for about 4 to 5 years, I beg to differ.
Please remember that he has been all over Africa and learned pronunciations. Also, how many time did he rerecorded the video to get the pronunciation correct
I sometimes return to countries I didn't like and discover that they're better than I thought.

There are so many things to address in this video;
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HONEST about the industry.
