I just think its amazing how our hair works & how much it shrinks when its wet, even though it's so complicated to deal with. Just washed mine, gonna try this method tonight. Thanks!
This helped me so much!! my 4c hair usually shrinks so much after washing, and I don't know what to do, but this helped me to keep my hairs length thank you so much, amazing!
ayuana bradford Yup ! I don't wear my hair out that much unless it's stretched because my hair tangles very easily. When I stretch my hair like this my hair is so much more enjoyable and easy to style and manage. You should give it a go !
@duh bruhnado I wouldn't say my hair was naturally soft but its pretty soft now because I try to keep it moisturized often. I think this could still work for you depending on the length of your hair. Length plays a bigger role in the style than thickness or dryness. My hair is very kinky and its reasonably thick and it works for me ! If your hair is thicker than mine just do smaller sections with the twists. As for dryness, I use the L.C.O. (liquid, cream, oil) method to moisturize my hair to make it soft before styling. I use a Liquid which is water, then a Cream which in this video was the Cantu and then an Oil to seal in the moisture which was the Monoi oil. I just used some shea butter for extra hold and smoothness.
It's so refreshing to see someone have the SAME hair texture and length. Twists outs always look your yours no matter how little I separate them. Love the style and will use your tips!
***** I know exactly how you feel ! I'm still on the hunt for some more naturals that have my texture and length. I'm glad you enjoyed the video though ! :)
Nicole Judah It will last until the next time I wash it so about a week or so. At night I either pineapple it on top of my head or put it into a low bun. Then I just shake it out in the morning :)
Hello from the UK! I think your hair is amazing and the transition from shrunk to stretched is great! You've been an inspiration to a woman transitioning to natural hair and feeling frustrated, I've abandoned the heat and am trying your method, thank you!
Aw thank you so much ! That means a lot to me !! Natural hair can definitely be very frustrating and it can be discouraging seeing everyone on youtube that makes it looks so easy ! I hope I can help you stay motivated and good luck on your journey !
I love that you respond to the vast majority of your viewers, and I truly admire it! I have braids in right now, but I'm definitely going to try this method soon. Thanks for the amazing advice :-*
Aw thanks ! I respond to every comment that I see, but sometimes I don't get the notifications so I miss a few 🙁. I'm actaully about to get my hair braided this weekend
LaPorshia Williams Loll my hair has been the same length for the past year because I keep cutting it. I'm definitely over the wanting long hair phase loll.
By far the best video on no heat stretching that I have seen. I have the absolute tightest hair and no other method has worked, but this looks promising. Omw to try it right now, thx girl!
Yes! I tried it that same evening. Worked like a charm...duh! I was like why didn't I think about the bobby pins! I've used the method on mine and my daughter's hair. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
this was perfect, found your page right after I took my MICROS down and washed conditioned and deep conditioned and needed a natural hair stretcher!!! thanks so much!!!
hi, im an African-American with natural hair who's trying different styles. It's in the baby stages of natural dreads ( J. Cole style ), my hair is maybe less than an inch long but I'm still trying your Technique. It is very hard to twist my hair into the stretches but I still managed. This is day one, and I've already had overnight progress. This video is amazing and thank you very much!
KitKat691 that's awesome ! I'm glad to hear that the video still worked out for you !! As for after hair growth I recommend taking hair growth supplements with biotin and MGM in them, doing scalp massages for a few minutes daily with any oil to increase blood circulation, and making sure the keep your scalp clarified
Thanks so much! That was very informative and very precise. Your hair looks really nice. Great method. Love your wonderful demeanor you have such a beautiful smile! Blessings. Thanks for sharing!
Doing this right now! I washed my hair yesterday night and had a really bad headache from excess combing/detangling my hair due to a 2 months havana twist I took off( I know, shouldn't have left it on for so long) so I didn't feel to put my hair into any ponytail or braid/twist. This morning, styling my hair was the hardest thing ever because it shrunk so much! Wasn't easy. I've learnt my lesson and thanks for the tutorial!
+Lana rey Diaz O yea I learned that lesson the hard way too. I did that one time before and I never did it again. My hair was so shrunken and tangled it was a disaster. Thank you for watching :)
+katherine kier. Cut the tip of the Havana twist, and in that way you should be able to roll it out with no problem.. Did mine like that. Although some were already soft, so I just pulled it out from my scalp(being careful not to damage my hair).
katherine kier. Hell yes my head was so sore! I had tangled my hair almost over an hour! Anyways the tutorial worked one me because I'm a person that suffers from natural hair shrinkage.
I love the elastic band method. I'm mad I didn't think of this sooner. I have two little babies and don't have time for all the bands, threads and whatever that others do. this looks quick and manageable. Can't wait to try.
+Lynn Hill-Torres I'm glad you enjoyed it ! Ive also want to try banding and african threading but I haven't had the time to do it either. This method definitely saves me a lot of time. I hope it works out for you ! If you have time, come back and let me know how it went !
Lol yes its hard work to keep afro hair up and all that detangling and moisturizing. That's why I got loc's Much easier ! A little leave in or oil twice a week . shampoo/re-twist once a month I'm good to go ! :)
Oh my gosh your tutorials are so helpful, and simple. I just took my braids out, and I've been looking for a good tutorial on what I should do. Thanks girl!!
Aww, how sweet! Thank you for that wonderful tutorial! I think you look really pretty with curl definition in your gorgeous hair! But I am old-school-my hair need a little grease-oh, yes,I use a little oil, but my coarse difficult hair needs grease. Oh, and what stole my heart was your great personality, and beautiful smile!
One of the best "no heat" stretching videos I've seen! I'm transitioning but I'm still trying to figure out how to keep my roots from looking so puffy since I still have a good amount of relaxed hair. I'll definitely be trying your method, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much ! That means a lot to me !! Letting your hair dry in ponytails should definitely help with stretching your roots. If you remember, feel free to come back and comment after you've tried it and tell me how it worked out for you :)
Yay! A great video/tutorial that I didn't even know I needed but did!Lol Still working with my natural hair and couldn't figure out what I did right last time my hair turned out so good! Come to figure out I had basically did these same steps!:) I needed to see this, someone with my hair type...and I appreciate you didn't use tons of products. Thanks!
+lashaundrajoy Aw thank you ! I'm glad i could help you out. I learned my lessons about using too many products the hard way so now I always try to keep it simple loll
Great video! This video is right on time for my bday trip. I have major shrinkage and will be doing this stretch method. Lol The hair has to be on point for my bday! Thanks again for sharing.
GREAT VIDEO, AM IN PHASE TWO OF MY CHEMICAL FREE HAIR JOURNEY,STRETCHING.I MAY TRY THIS METHOD WHEN MY HAIR GET LONGER. AND YOUR SMILE IS....GORGEOUS COULDN'T STOP LOOKING AT YOUR PEARLY WHITES!!! 💗💗💗💗💎💎💎💎👍👍👍👍
Awwww thank you so much for the compliment !! I'm not sure what phase two is though can you explain that to me ? If you give it a try you can always let me know if it worked for you. I love hearing the feedback :)
Luv the video! I like your technique and I will definitely try it! I needed a heat less method and one where I could get the most length from. Thanks and keep up the good work!
lologirl11 Aww yayyyy ! I'm so excited to hear that. I love to help. I'm going to try and make a lot more videos this year so just let me know if you have any requests :)
@NotYourAverageCurl, this method worked extremely well for my 4c hair type. I love this method and will use it from now on, can't wait to see more videos .
The stretching method seemed to work great for me. I did not double stretch it though, because I looked at how stretched it was before double stretching & I was pretty pleased with the results! :)
Sorry I have little to no knowledge about my natural hair products :( but could I use the Shea moisture curling smoothie for the cream for the first and especially the second day im not sure if my hair will revert if not any recommendations
Obey MyMindlessness Its ok ! The curl enhancing smoothie does have water as the first ingredients so it may make your hair revert. If you're going to use it I would just say to use a little bit. I would suggest you use a styler like a twisting cream or butter. Something thicker like shea butter or something like that :)
This is a fantastic video and it worked really well for me on day one but nighttime came and i did not know what to do and when I woke up in the morning it was one big mess... and advice?
Those hair type charts confuse me. I'm not too sure of the letter and number but I think I'm mostly 4a. Most of my curls are S shaped and Some are loose coil-like curls with a straw diameter. I have crazy shrinkage--but my restyled hair stretches as if I blew it out.
Tondra Hailey Honestly, I'm right there with you. I completely convinced that my hair type is not even on that chart. I know my number is 4 but after that its just impossible.
Really nice vid! I love the step by step method, especially the hats! Honestly though, you could have rocked that up do from the second pinning even without having covered your hair at all! Thx so much for sharing!
Thank you ! Yea I really should have ! I didn't even know how good it looked until I was editing the video loll. I rocked the twists like that a few times now that I know it can pass for an actual style. Thank you for watching :)
You should try moisturizing with water or a product with water as the first ingredient. Oil may appear to be moisturizing because it can get rid of dandruff and coat the hair temporarily, but water is the best thing to moisturize hair because it penetrates the hair strand. I too use a lot of oils in my hair but I always apply a small amount of water before applying the oil and I've noticed a huge difference when I do it that way.
I love this!!!! I've watched this like a hundred times. Iam currently have a protective stlye(braids) and when I take this out, I think this would help😘😘😘😘😂😂💖💖💖💖💖🙋thank you for posting this!!!
gurl u helped me so much with this...I was using the 2 day routine like you but then i learned that if i twist my hair into medium sized twists the first day, then do the banding method on the twists the first day, then stretch and pin the twists (with the scrunches in them), then I can get the same results that I usually got if I did the 2 day routine..
OMG!😱 this was so helpful,I'm a 11yr old girl and I have curly hair that comes two-three inches past my shoulders but the shrinkage makes its so short this was hella helpful. Thx you so much!!💖✌️
I know this is an older video, but I just found it and love it more than anything. I am following your instruction from A-to-Z, and I know it's about no heat, but if I have somewhere to go this evening could I dry my hair under a cool heat hood?
Don't u hate when u combing your hair and its long because your pulling it and u let go and it goes back in its cave 😂😂😂
Brysonandmari this made me mad lmao
Felt that on a real note😂
I knowwww :(
“back in its cave” lmao yeah😂😭
I don't even have hair like this, what am I doing here? I have a test tomorrow
Aileen Nguyen 😂😂😂
lmfao
Aileen Nguyen I luv ur response
Aileen Nguyen LOL I have a test tomorrow too 😂
Aileen Nguyen lmao!!
I just think its amazing how our hair works & how much it shrinks when its wet, even though it's so complicated to deal with. Just washed mine, gonna try this method tonight. Thanks!
+Debbie Tesfaye Yea I never get used to shrinkage loll. Did you get a chance to try it ?!?! If so, how did it turn out ?
NotYourAverageCurl No I don't have the supplies for it but I wanna try it 😕
You don't have to use the same products. If you have some hair scrunchies and bobby pins you could make it work !
It's your real name Deborah?
Larisse Amany Yes
Best no heat stretching tutorial for 4C hair on youtube hands down! This is my go to video!
Awww thank you so much !! I really appreciate that :)
Trust me I don't need that breakage
Lol@ when you said, "...I'm using the Carol's Daughter Hair Oil just because I want to get rid of it!"
Lollll I had to sneak that part in there. I wanted to like those products so bad but some things aren't meant to be.
Totally understand girl. I have a cabinet full of products that don't really do my hair well. I give them away to people who are transitioning.
Nikki Anthony That's what I need to start doing because Lord knows I have enough to go around !
Be a blessing!
Nikki Anthony Thanks for the inspiration !!
This helped me so much!! my 4c hair usually shrinks so much after washing, and I don't know what to do, but this helped me to keep my hairs length thank you so much, amazing!
Awww yayyy ! Glad I could help ! As you can see I get some pretty serious shrinkage myself so I understand the struggle loll
NotYourAverageCurl hey I'm natural and I don't like to wear it out but do u think that will work on my hair
ayuana bradford Yup ! I don't wear my hair out that much unless it's stretched because my hair tangles very easily. When I stretch my hair like this my hair is so much more enjoyable and easy to style and manage. You should give it a go !
Finally! Someone with my hair type with some wonderful results. I just deep conditioned my hair; I will be trying this today.
+Alaylah Brown Thank you ! Did it work for you ?!?!
@duh bruhnado I wouldn't say my hair was naturally soft but its pretty soft now because I try to keep it moisturized often. I think this could still work for you depending on the length of your hair. ***** I know exactly how you feel ! I'm still on the hunt for some more naturals that have my texture and length. I'm glad you enjoyed the video though ! :)
Tatyana Shania Well considering that this video is about stretching hair without heat I would say super stretched.
NotYourAverageCurl hngh....kinda embarrasing to ask, but can guys do this too? I have a decently sized afro.
Dylan Seaton of course ! Anyone with enough hair to put into a ponytail and twists can try this :)
+NotYourAverageCurl Sooo u did this for two days straight?
Yes
NotYourAverageCurl Ooohh I wonder y when I did it, it wasn't that stretched
***** No problem ! My shrinkage is crazy too so I understand the struggle. Hopefully this helps you pick up that flat iron less :)
Thank you ! I might have to try that next time :)
one of the best stretch methods on youtube. she kept it simple and intelligent.
Awww thank you so much ! I really appreciate that :)
What!!!! Best stretching video Ive seen in a while..
How long does your stretched hair usually last?
Nicole Judah It will last until the next time I wash it so about a week or so. At night I either pineapple it on top of my head or put it into a low bun. Then I just shake it out in the morning :)
Thank you so much for the compliment by the way ! I really appreciate it !!
YAAS GIRL, I'm literally sitting in front of my cp post-wash and googled ways to stretch my hair without heat, and you were the first to pop up!
Thank you !! I hope it worked for you !
This won't work overnight? I don't have two days lmao, I'm trynna stretch my hair by tomorrow. And what can I use if I don't have a satin wrap?
Im late, but your hair will stretch in one day but it may not stretch as much. If you don't have a satin scarf you can use a bonnet.
This is the best hair streching vid i've seen yet. None of the other methods worked for my hair.
Autumn Smith Yayyyyyyyy ! That's what I LOVE to hear ! Thank you so much !
+NotYourAverageCurl nice!!!!!what kind of braids are you getting?
Crochet box braids. I need a break because I keep cutting my hair. I get scissor happy when it's out for too long loll.
+NotYourAverageCurl I'm the same way 😂😂😂 yet I complain that it's not long enough lol
Dana Shavers Thank you so much ! Did you try it yet ? If so how did it work out for you ?
Yes! I tried it that same evening. Worked like a charm...duh! I was like why didn't I think about the bobby pins! I've used the method on mine and my daughter's hair. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
YAYYYYY ! So glad to hear that it worked out for you and I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video :)
I love that pin style it's so easy and i could wear it to work to mimic short hair. And I love the stretch it gave, Great it
Thank you so much ! I'm glad i recorded this because I didn't even know how cute it looked until I was editing the video :)
this was perfect, found your page right after I took my MICROS down and washed conditioned and deep conditioned and needed a natural hair stretcher!!! thanks so much!!!
yayyyy ! I'm glad you liked it !
hi, im an African-American with natural hair who's trying different styles. It's in the baby stages of natural dreads ( J. This is day one, and I've already had overnight progress. This video is amazing and thank you very much!
and I've also got a question, do you know how to make hair grow faster than it is? Because my hair grows very short. Probably a millimeter a month 🙈🙈
Ima start doing this. Cause other stuff just complicated
+Phylicia Lyn Lolll i hope you have great results :)
This method really works well on my hair! I love it! My hair is so stretch and now I enjoy washing/conditioning my hair :)
Over the years I thought that using heat or perm were the only options, but what you just showed in this video was great.
My hair is not long enough to put into long ponytails like that..
Adzu Ace same
princess smith just do flat twists. That will stretch your hair and give it a nice curl when you take them down
princess cookie then grow your hair
Adzu Ace jus braid 2 braids to the back
@@ruesopher5152 ?
I really like this method of stretching. twisting my hair is right up my ally and the supplies are so common. thank you. I will try this
Thank you ! I hope it works for you if you try it !!
Thanks so much! That was very informative and very precise. Your hair looks really nice. Great method. Love your wonderful demeanor you have such a beautiful smile! Blessings. Thanks for sharing!
Aww thank you so much ! I really appreciate your comment ! Thank you for watching :)

This is the most helpful thing I’ve ever seen in my life
you're an EXCELLENT teacher! thank you for a great tutorial!
Aw thanks so much !
oh my gosh it has taken me forever to figure out how to stretch my hair in an orderly fashion! thank you so much!!
Yayy ! I hope it worked for you !
It worked for me and it look absolutely amazing. Thank for the tips!
Yayyyy ! Glad to hear that it worked out :)
Thank you for watching :)
how did it come out, if you don't mind me asking (I'm about to take out my 2month havana twists too)?
+katherine kier. Cut the tip of the Havana twist, and in that way you should be able to roll it out with no problem.. Did mine like that. Although some were already soft, so I just pulled it out from my scalp(being careful not to damage my hair).
+Lana rey Diaz lol no I meant after trying this tutorial, was it effective & was your head really sore?
katherine kier. Hell yes my head was so sore! I had tangled my hair almost over an hour! Anyways the tutorial worked one me because I'm a person that suffers from natural hair shrinkage.
I was a sceptic at first but the end results are beautiful. Very nice
Thank you loll ! Im glad you enjoyed the video.
You’re hair looks so bomb!! This video was very helpful thanks for sharing ❤️
Shalise Marshall I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching ☺️
Cute ! Before getting loc's I wore my hair like this and if it wasn't humid out the twist out would last a week and a half until I washed it out.
Yes ! This has definitely become my favorite hairstyle :)
I'm glad you found a style that you love which can be hard with natural hair sometimes :)
***** yes i know the struggle ! I just wish it wasnt so much manipulation. Now i just have to find a few more loll
Lol yes its hard work to keep afro hair up and all that detangling and moisturizing. That's why I got loc's Much easier ! A little leave in or oil twice a week . shampoo/re-twist once a month I'm good to go ! :)
Tell me about it ! Ughh im so jealous ! I feel like I would miss having individual strands of hair if i got locs (as weird as that sounds) loll
It really looks like you blow dried your hair . Looks great! Thanks for sharing your technique, I am going to have to definitely give this a try.
Thank you for watching ! Sorry for the late response. I'm just now seeing this
finally found someone with hair that shrinks up like mine, thank you so much
Nelisa Cirilo no, thank you ! I understand the shrinkage struggle loll
Oh my gosh your tutorials are so helpful, and simple. I just took my braids out, and I've been looking for a good tutorial on what I should do. Thanks girl!!
I appreciate that comment ! Thank you so much
Yeah...this tutorial changed my natural hair life!! Can't thank you enough! :D
Happy to hear that !!

Awww thank you so so much ! I really appreciate that ! This made my day :)
Enjoyed your video ..Love the back ground music (AL B Sure!) lol
Thank you very much :) !
That's what I said the whole video
I learned my lessons about using too many products the hard way so now I always try to keep it simple loll

i love it !!!!! thanks so much for sharing your tips ! I'm about to use your method now to see how it works out for me.
Yayyyyy ! Please tell me if it works. I love hearing feedback :)
The stretching method seemed to work great for me. I did not double stretch it though, because I looked at how stretched it was before double stretching & I was pretty pleased with the results! :)
+Samantha Gray That's great ! If one day of stretch works for you that's even better. I'm happy to hear it worked out for you :)
I just tried thid and it really does work! Thank you.
YAYYYYY ! That's so great to hear ! Thank you for watching and trying it out :)
NotYourAverageCurl you're welcome and thank you so much for posting this, I've been trying to find new ways to stretch my hair.
KhalilLee Dostis Glad I could help :)
This is a fantastic video and it worked really well for me on day one but nighttime came and i did not know what to do and when I woke up in the morning it was one big mess... and advice?
+Lyrics girl Thank you ! I pineapple it at night or put it in large braids.
Ok Thank So Much!
Lyrics girl You're welcome !

Girl you palying my jam in the background
loll great song
Loved the video,Just tried this tonight, wish me luck
Jaelyn Stringer Thank you ! How did it turn out ?!?!
Awesome vid! We have to totally different hair types and i also get best styles and stretched hair or restyled hair.
Really ?! Whats your hair type ?
Those hair type charts confuse me. I'm not too sure of the letter and number but I think I'm mostly 4a. Most of my curls are S shaped and Some are loose coil-like curls with a straw diameter. I have crazy shrinkage--but my restyled hair stretches as if I blew it out.
Tondra Hailey Honestly, I'm right there with you. I completely convinced that my hair type is not even on that chart. I know my number is 4 but after that its just impossible.
I love this tutorial...definitely going to try this but with braid outs rather than twists.👍
Thank you ! I hope it works for you like it did for me :)
I learn for my 4c hair I had to moisturize everyday! With oil olive
Yasssss werk mama!! I needed this, about to wash my hair and stretch now. Thanks!!
You're welcome ! Did it work out ?!
+NotYourAverageCurl yes it did!! It worked better than my old way and it was quicker! :) thank you!
Alexis Foster YAYYYYYYYYY !! So happy to hear that 😁
this method actually works and I use this method every time I wash my hair
Sonica Tonge glad to hear you like it !
Oh I'm so trying this simple and easy! Thank you!
You're welcome ! How did it turn out ?
I love this!!!! I've watched this like a hundred times. Iam currently have a protective stlye(braids) and when I take this out, I think this would help😘😘😘😘😂😂💖💖💖💖💖🙋thank you for posting this!!!
Thank you so much ! I'm so sorry I'm just now seeing this comment
If I made such good twists in my hair, I would go out in public so proudly with them! Just gonna try them
gurl u helped me so much with this...I was using the 2 day routine like you but then i learned that if i twist my hair into medium sized twists the first day, then do the banding method on the twists the first day, then stretch and pin the twists (with the scrunches in them), then I can get the same results that I usually got if I did the 2 day routine..
Wow ! I might have to give that a try ! I've always wanted to try banding
thanks this really helped i have started doing this every hair wash day and it really helps instead of me always blow drying. xox
maryland yay !! Glad I could help 🤗
OMG!😱 this was so helpful,I'm a 11yr old girl and I have curly hair that comes two-three inches past my shoulders but the shrinkage makes its so short this was hella helpful. Thx you so much!!💖✌️
Hey girl ! I'm sorry for the late response but I'm just now seeing this comment ! I hope your hair journey is going great !
Love the length! Amazing shrinkage!
Thank you !
Hi, great simple video. What is the name bands you use in your hair and where can I purchase them? I want to try the day 1 method.
Thank you!!!
Thank you ! They are the "Scunci no slip glip evolution" hair scrunchies. I found mine at Walgreens :)
I like this video this is so helpful but I had a question if I just do it how u had it in the second video will it work
So sorry for the late response ! I'm just seeing this. If you start on dry hair you should have similar results though
I know this is an older video, but I just found it and love it more than anything. I am following your instruction from A-to-Z, and I know it's about no heat, but if I have somewhere to go this evening could I dry my hair under a cool heat hood?
I don't see why not. It should work the same. Let me know how it comes out !
Wow..what long hair ...shrinkage is so awesome
lolll I have a love hate relationship with my shrinkage
Good process, and safe. Looks great.
Pretti Uneekhair Thank you !
