I used to hate my 4c hair. Thought it was the ugliest thing until I started watching your videos. I still prefer braids because I don't like how I look natural, but I see the beauty of 4c hair because of you. Thank you so much.
My mom use to thread my hair all the time when I was little, this is the best method to get our hair naturally straight without heat just by stretching it out.
I just want to thank you for having this channel bc it has been really helpful to me. I have been watching your videos all day!!! I have been relaxing my hair since I was like 4 or five and it's all I have ever done. When I was about 10 a woman used too strong of a relaxer and my hair started breaking off and i had to start fresh. It was a traumatic experience for me but I just grew it out natural, had braids all of the time, and two years later I got it relaxed again... Loved relaxed hair for a while, but after a year I went back to being natural bc I just didn't see the point in chemicals and damaged hair for no good reason, Now my whole family is going natural!!!! Needless to say we are all clueless. I have been getting braids letting it grow out, but this channel has been a life saver!!! 😊 Thanks you so much for sharing!!!
***** This is by no means any disrespect towards you, but you are so beautiful. This is why as a black man myself, i love seeing black women with their natural hair, you all are straight gorgeous. Peace to you.
Safest and most effective threading technique I've seen to date (And I'm South African and have been threading my hair for years now)!!! Great tips! Thanks for the video!
WHAAAAAAAAAT???????????????????? LOL! I didn't know you could do that to natural hair. That's freakin' awesome! cant wait for my hair to grow long enough to do this. Thanks for the video. :-)
omg! thank you! i completely forgot about threading hair, my mom use to do that all the time. Really helps the hair with growth, strength and streches as well. I am so doing this tomorrow. Haha thank you!
This is perfect. I'm so glad I came across this I have never been able to get my hair straight the way I like it without going to a beautician now this is something I can try at home myself.
I have never seen anyone do that to their hair before and I was so surprised by how straight your hair became. That is so awesome and I can't wait to try it on my own hair.
Wow. So gonna try this. Grew up in Africa doing this hairstyle as kids but never had the epiphany of it straightening hair. I absolutely hate natural hair but now you have made me see light at the end of the tunnel.
Your video is the BEST one explaining how to initially secure the thread. I couldn't get it when I tried it a year ago on my own head. I still have my thead, and thanks to you, I will be trying African threading again soon.
You are one of the prettiest youtubers I've ever seen and good info on threading. I love this technique for my daughter's hair especially to prepare for braiding styles.
this is awesome and to say my mum used to do it on my hair when i was a kid and i hated it. .. am transitioning and my crazy kinky hair needs to be stretched to avoid lots and lots of tangling. thanks for sharing.
Living far away from home I miss my mummy so bad. This was so cute I literally grew up like this. That was my mom too every Sunday night sitting between her legs doing our hair for Monday morning school. I must say it did work and now I am struggling gotta learn how to do this myself cuz my hair needs some savings. New subscriber
Your hair looks great, ***** . I especially like the fro pictures at the beginning. I recall I threaded with yarn a couple of times cause that's what I had lying around the house.
You are so pretty , I have been natural for about 6 months my hair after I cut the relaxed end went from my forehead to bridge of nostril but I have noticed that my left edge had been thinning and has some bald spots do you have any suggestion on what I should do it soo embarrassing
aminata suma I'm so sorry about that. Sudden occurrences like that may be caused by either an unhealthy diet or underlying condition. Try increasing your fluids (water) and eat more fruits and veggies. Also, avoid pulling your hair in puffs because that may also be the culprit. If you notice any more thinning, I would definitely see a dermatologist.
onions and garlic will help that. if you have shedding do a black tea rinse once a month. and for oil use castor oil...you edges will grow back in no time
does this method only stretch out the hair or does it grow the hair to? basically can you were this as a protective style can it be left in your hair for like 2 weeks
bri bri Cotin It can be a protective style. I do leave it in for up to 2 weeks at a time. I just mist it with a light moisturizer. Traditionally, people would just style their hair with thread like they would braids or twists.
It can be stretch and also be a protective style.if you want to see more beautiful styles of African threading you can search Zimbabwean magodi on you tube
Now like a lot of your videos because they are very encouraging and it worth following them. What products can I use to do this, since not all cities have the same products that you presented in the video. Thanks
seuma tavares You can use any one of your favorite creams and oil or you can do it the old fashioned way and use a little bit of water in place of a moisturizer and some oil/ shea butter. Use very little water or your hair will take a couple of days to dry.
I usually wet my hair then do the threading leaving near to no space between the tiding, I remove the thread when my hair is totally dry that is about 2 to 3 days. having a 3A 3B hair my hair looks pretty straight after but with volume.
you make it look sooo easyyy...I tried it on one section in the back 3x and um...fail. fail. fail. it kept slipping and wouldn't stay close to the root and then when I tried to take it out, to start over, it wouldn't slip easily. I am going attempt again and start earlier in the day instead of afternoon cause the results are exactly what I am looking for and we seem to have the same texture.
Beautiful. I would like to try this on my daughters 4A hair. Does it not tangle when you remove the thread? You simply start pulling at the ends of the thread to remove? Thank you very much for you video.
Yes you could do this overnight, but the longer you leave them in, the better the stretch. Some people take them out, and redo them to get a really good stretch.
I really enjoyed the video and I will be trying this out soon! I do have a couple of questions: How long will your hair stay stretched before you wash it again? What is your curl pattern like once its been washed? Does it revert back or is the curl pattern stretched?
Christian Jordan It stays stretched until wash day. Humidity will make it shrink a little. It only fully reverts after I wash it or dunk it in water. I have my regular 4b/c pattern after washing. Thanks for watching.
This is done so you won't have to use heat so it's not worth doing it with heat. Secondly it's not about drying, it's about time. The more you wear them the best the results. You don't have to have your hair wet to do it. I always did it with dried hair and never with wet hair. Dried hair is better.
It would depend if you have had previous damage if your hair is springy it will extend longer aswell if it's been damaged it won't spring to this length
I used to hate my 4c hair. Thought it was the ugliest thing until I started watching your videos. I still prefer braids because I don't like how I look natural, but I see the beauty of 4c hair because of you. Thank you so much.
Destinee I love braids too. I'm so glad I could encourage you. Thanks for watching. :)

Delecia Tatum Yeah, and it definitely helps with sculpted styles. I'm glad I could help. :)

Wow. So gonna try this. Grew up in Africa doing this hairstyle as kids but never had the epiphany of it straightening hair. I absolutely hate natural hair but now you have made me see light at the end of the tunnel.
lerratto lol. This is all my mom used to stretch my hair growing up in Africa. She saved me from the hot comb. I'm glad I could help.
Your video is the BEST one explaining how to initially secure the thread. I couldn't get it when I tried it a year ago on my own head. I still have my thead, and thanks to you, I will be trying African threading again soon.

You're so pretty. Thanks for the post! I'm scared to try this. At least not until my hair is healthier.
+Jacqueline Nooner Thank you. I understand. I've done it all my life, so I'm not concerned, but you can incur damage if it's done incorrectly.
I can't wait to do this for my niece! She will be so happy! I very rarely let heat near her hair.
Aww, you're the best kind of auntie. 🤗
New subbie! I need to try this. And I like that you can wear a wig on top while it's stretching. Thanks for sharing!

+ladxmg Definitely reconsider.
I'm sooooooo impressed with this lol thank you I definitely learned something today! :D
+Jilane P Yay!! I'm glad I could teach something worthwhile.
My mom used to do this all the time when I was little, even when she relaxed my hair!
My mom did it with my relaxer too. lol
This is pretty cool! Im a new natural (1 week) lol so I just had to subscribe.
queenjo28 A Aww, thanks for subbing. :)
Great tip about the ends of the hair! Now why didn't I think of that? :)
Miatta Kangeecard Thanks. I got it from my mom. :)
you have beautiful hair , so thick n i think its long but i cant even exlapin how much i love your hair
You are so pretty , I have been natural for about 6 months my hair after I cut the relaxed end went from my forehead to bridge of nostril but I have noticed that my left edge had been thinning and has some bald spots do you have any suggestion on what I should do it soo embarrassing

+jamaicanbeautyxo Thanks.
Loved your page. Just added and definitely trying this method xox
vilma silva Thanks so much. :)
Good video..I really love African threading.
+Angelicwarrior37 Yeah, me too. Thanks for watching.
OMG. That's amazing. I'm following you. My inspiration 😍...my 4c hair is short. But ill make it for sure
Girl, your hair will grow before you know it. I've been keeping mine at the same length for 4 years. Now I want to grow mine too. lol
does this method only stretch out the hair or does it grow the hair to? basically can you were this as a protective style can it be left in your hair for like 2 weeks
bri bri Cotin yes it can be a protective style I actually love this as one of my top protective styles
bri bri Cotin It can be a protective style.
Do you thread on wet hair?
Hi. After you take the thread out how do you keep your hair from frizzing up until you wash it again.
nono namer It typically stays stretched enough for me. You can thread large sections at night (4-6) with oil/ shea butter at night.
I need to learn this to save my hair ??
this looks pretty cool I'll be sure to try this
+Alecia King I hope it works out for you. :)
+Pure Estrogen thank you
Beautiful. I need to try this. Tfs
***** Thanks and let me know how it works for you.
Your videos are so informative. Do you have any threading styles that you wear to work and in public while it dries as a protective style?
BellaJournista I don't, but I want to start doing it in June.
I usually wet my hair then do the threading leaving near to no space between the tiding, I remove the thread when my hair is totally dry that is about 2 to 3 days. having a 3A 3B hair my hair looks pretty straight after but with volume.
kamdem carole Yeah, that's the traditional way.
Thank you,so just water is fine. I'm a use floss too
Are there other things you can use instead of that butter cream hydrator? I have pomade for instance, is that a possibility?
Yeah, pomade is fine. That's what my mom used to use on my hair.
you make it look sooo easyyy...I tried it on one section in the back 3x and um...fail. fail. fail. it kept slipping and wouldn't stay close to the root and then when I tried to take it out, to start over, it wouldn't slip easily. I am going attempt again and start earlier in the day instead of afternoon cause the results are exactly what I am looking for and we seem to have the same texture.
elizabeth h Sorry. I guess I'm at an advantage because I grew up getting my hair threaded. You'll get the hang of it eventually. :)
Your natural hair so pretty! You should do modelling, honestly:O
quiettepeakactually Thank you so much. :)
Beautiful. I would like to try this on my daughters 4A hair. Does it not tangle when you remove the thread? You simply start pulling at the ends of the thread to remove? Thank you very much for you video.
It doesn't tangle. I just unravel it and it's fine. Thanks for watching.
this looks good but wouldn't single braids be faster?
hesso debonair I don't know. I guess it depends on the person.
do you have to wait four days just to have stretched hair? You can't do it overnight?
Yes you could do this overnight, but the longer you leave them in, the better the stretch. Some people take them out, and redo them to get a really good stretch.
Thanks so much for the reply
I really enjoyed the video and I will be trying this out soon! I do have a couple of questions: How long will your hair stay stretched before you wash it again? What is your curl pattern like once its been washed? Does it revert back or is the curl pattern stretched?
Christian Jordan It stays stretched until wash day. Humidity will make it shrink a little. It only fully reverts after I wash it or dunk it in water. I have my regular 4b/c pattern after washing. Thanks for watching.
Im trying this next month when i take out my singles
unbelievable before and after :)
EC DC Thank you. :)
could I sit under a dryer to speed up the process
+SmileSometime123 I have never tried it, but it's worth a shot. It can dry overnight in a warm environment.
This is done so you won't have to use heat so it's not worth doing it with heat.
Secondly it's not about drying, it's about time. The more you wear them the best the results. You don't have to have your hair wet to do it. I always did it with dried hair and never with wet hair. Dried hair is better.
Cool 😎
you might aswell just blowdry then its suppose Mr o be no heat right
Thanks for sharing! I’ll be trying this soon
Ms. Courtney Wrenn You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Where can i buy african thread in stores? Or if i can't what kind of string is a good substitute for ordering it online?
+Jamilah F. Pryce Beauty supply stores typically carry high strength weaving thread. That's what I use. I got mine from Sally's.
hey instead of waiting a few days can you sit under the dryer after threading the hair?
+Wadiyah Musah I'm not sure, but it's worth a try.
My natural hair is the length of your natural hair in this video, but it does not stretch to shoulder length, how come? I too have 4c hair
+Xolisa Mfobo minee toooo
try leaving it in for more than you usually do and every hair type even if you're hair is her hair type does stretch as the same
+Xolisa Mfobo i think maybe her hair had a lot of shrinkage before she threaded it, which is why it turned out ridiculously long after
It would depend if you have had previous damage if your hair is springy it will extend longer aswell if it's been damaged it won't spring to this length
Love the results. What thread did you use because weave thread doesn't seem to do the trick for me.
+Gabby Abordo I use high strength weaving thread from Sallys.
is that rubber bend that she use to thread the hair or what? can somebody tell me
+Fatuma Ahmed It's thread.
+Pure Estrogen Did you have to wait four whole days for it to straighten and how long does the style last?
Can you do this to washed wet hair?
+Jessie J Yes, you can.
