  • Rediscovering J.R. Richard: The Forgotten Hero's Incredible Journey
J.R. Richard, who we can best be described as a master of velocity on the pitcher's mound, possessed a rare gift, the ability to hurl a baseball with astonishing speed!
To put this into perspective, his slider left the radar gun gasping at 98 miles per hour. But wait, there's more: his fastball, which was the main pitch in his arsenal, routinely breached the triple-digit barrier, occasionally soaring to an unbelievable 103 mph.
Unfortunately, though, J.R. fell on hard times and his once-soaring career took an abrupt nosedive. And you can’t help but wonder what went wrong.
In today's video we look at Rediscovering J.R. Richard: The Forgotten Hero's Incredible Journey...keep waching for more on houston astros, astros, j.r. richard, jr richard, jr richards astros, houston, houston astros (baseball team), astros great jr richard, how did astros great jr richard die, jr richards astros highlights, houston news, jr richards, jr richard stroke, jr richards stroke, houston sports talk, abc13 houston, jr richard fastest pitch, jr richard homeless, nolan ryan astros, astro history, richard, how richard die, jr richards fastball, and astros legend

For baseball fans J.R. predates so many pitchers in our times who are getting notoriety because they can click above the century mark. J.R. was doing this in the 70s. Striking out as many as he did back then was headline news. If nomercyinc doesn’t care, he doesn’t recognize the value of those who set the standards of the game.

Back then, pitches were measured in front of the plate, not out of the hand, like they are today. 103mph at the plate is absurd. Nobody today throws anywhere near that hard.

@@nomercyinc6783 in college baseball and high school ball you have completed games but look up how many complete games were pitched last year in the majors as opposed to the 1970s
