Hi John, my team and I will be joining you every Tuesday morning at 9am pst starting Jan 12 2021. We have all committed to watching you while we're all exercising and then watching you AGAIN at 9am MST the next day with our group but this time take notes and have a discussion. You have helped me tremendously over the years and I'm happy to share your information with my team so they can join Neurogym with me this year, so you can help them too! Thank you and see you next Tuesday!
Thanks John for the awesome presentation. Procrastination has been one of my biggest challenges. Like you rightly said, I started with awareness. I developed a little electronic form that documented the habit and upon looking at the data deeper it gave me some interesting insights. I didn't just document tasks that I procrastinated on but also the ones that I immediately toke actions on. I observed that I procrastinated on tasks that I believe were susceptible to negative criticism if my action ended up wrong. But I immediate toke action on others that weren't in that category. The tracker ( fear of being criticized) + the behavior (procrastination) + the reward ( safe from criticism) constituted the habit loop that was responsible for my procrastination. When I recognized this loop, I thought I would change every part of the loop. It didn't work. I wouldn't keep myself from thinking fearful outcomes of my actions. So, I focused on 3 things: 1. Altered my environment to support my action, 2. Attached a new and positive meaning to the fear of criticism and 3. Like John said, create a bigger and better reward for taking the action. There must be a strong craving for that new reward. In other words, it must be meaningful. Though I never had the opportunity to go into these fields, growing up I have always been facinated about numerology and psychology. So my love for these fields have encouraged me to test out somethings I have learned from John and others. Example, I wanted to develop the habit of using my left hand to brush my teeth and write my morning gratitude statement without thinking about them. They are now habits. Waking up at 4 am without alarm clock has also become a habit. So, one statement I say to myself when the fear of criticism comes to mind is this; " I am more interested in taking this action than its reactions". Wow, this motivates and 🔥 me up. Again, I am grateful to you John for the value you continue to share.
@@johnassaraf yes definitely. In 2020 I heard about you for the first time and listened to most of your youtube videos. I'm glad I did. I could not understand why I procrastinate and listening to you I found out it was mostly fear. Now I'm working on my procrastination based on your youtube and FB posts. This year 2021 I will realize my goals. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me.
Hey John, Thank you very much for this informative content.😊 Can you please make a video on how to have high self-esteem and become emotionally strong? Sometimes people’s emotions and words hurt us most that we also become emotionalised and do not know how to respond them. Most important, how to be yourself when people trigger us? Thank you in advance🙏🏻😊
