  • Our war with mosquitoes is bloody. Mosquito-borne diseases kill over a million people each year, making mosquitoes the world’s deadliest creatures. Who can stop this menace? Meet disease hunters who combat mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.
We highlight drug-resistant super malaria in Thailand, dengue outbreaks in Singapore caused by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, with a chapter set in the US focusing on how climate change and globalisation accelerate the establishment of mosquito-borne diseases in new territories, where populations have low immunity and are at risk of severe outbreaks.
Through leading experts in Singapore, US and Thailand, we explore promising solutions to mosquito-borne diseases, such as monoclonal antibodies, genetically-engineered mosquitoes and Wolbachia bacteria. Finally, they weigh in on the merits of time-tested methods such as insecticides and public engagement.

I got bitten up by mosquitoes. On the plane back to the UK, the huge blisters popped and the liquid leaked then dried up, sticking my clothing to my skin.
I was bitten every where and I mean every where Eg. between my toes, armpits, back of my knees, back of my heel, on my fingers, palms, my scalp, etc. I was in such a bad way. I had to sit fully clothed in a salt bath. Even then only some of my clothes would release my stuck skin. My remaining clothes had to be cut off. The local doctor was called and promptly insisted that I be placed in emergency hospital. When I returned home, I was still weak and permanently tired.
Mosquitoes need to be totally destroyed. They have no purpose. I loathe to them very highest. 😠😡🤬

My goodness, where did you go?
I remember getting malaria as a kid (I grew up in Kenya) and then learning later as a young adult that malaria can be deadly! Malaria for me was just a bit of a fever, throwing up, not being able to eat, missing school for a few days and then getting well, you know just like a cold! But I've since come to learn that Western Kenya has some really nasty mosquitoes and you don't want to catch malaria while there!
Anyway, I'm so sorry for your bad experience and I'm glad you recovered.

If you have Dengue fever you will have very high fever. When I got Dengue my father gave me a glass of dichondra repens juice. After drinking the juice I went to sleep and cover myself with blanket After one hour I began to sweat. My temperature from 40c will drop to 37c within one hour. I recover in three days. The herb dichondra repens are abundant in Thailand and other Asian countries. Patients who have Dengue should try this herb. it ready work.

I dealt with malaria in Afghanistan and I was told when training that I wouldn’t
I took as much training & carried my resource notes with me when I went
We had one military member that had a G6PD deficiency & was dying from his antimalarial drugs…again I was told In training that I wouldn’t encounter that.
Dealing with tropical disease-YOU WILL encounter it- BE PREPARED!!!

Mosquitoes should be genetically altered to not carry any diseases or just totally eradicate the little buggers. I prefer the latter.

WATCHING THIS SERIES IS ALMOST A MASSACKISTIC THING TO DO DURING A 3RD WAVE OF COVID 19 PANDEMIC.
I'M ALMOST TEMPTED TO CLOSE MY DOORS AND CURTAINS, NOT RUN MY AIR CONDITIONER. FAN ONLY. EVEN ON THE HOTEST DAYS I ONLY USE MY FAN BECAUSE THE AIR CONDITIONER IS HORRIBLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND DRAWS A LOT OF HYDRO.
