I too used this method today. I had NEVER cleaned this shield. The entire shield was some shade of brown, from light tan to dark brown. As soon as I dropped it in, the surface of the water was immediately covered in brown residue. So, I decided to do this a second time and now it looks like new. Very little scrubbing to finish it off. Thanks so much for this video!
This cleaning method worked great! Very effective! I also scrubbed it with a steel wool afterward... I would wager this will extend the life of the grill BC it was starting to get a bit smokey...
THANK YOU! My splatter screen not only needed this deep clean, I had cooked Mexican pizza in it and didn't realize my pizzas were too high and I got cheese caked in my screen. It took about an hour between soaking and scrubbing, but, now the screen looks brand new and I know how to keep it that way!
I did not have a pot big enough, so I used a skillet instead and used less water, baking soda, vinegar, and kept an eye on it so it did not boil over or dry out. Worked really well.
Thanks so much for this video! I am giving my air fryer to a friend since I bought a bigger one but was embarrassed at how the splatter shield looked. This worked wonders!
I didn't have a pot large enough. I use your method to clean my Ninja Foodi SP100 fryer basket. I use a baking pan, had to soak it one half at a time. It came out brand new, thank you very much for the video. I was ready to buy a new one after not able to clean it. Not any more, thank you.
Yay! I am so glad to hear that! I didn't even think about the air fryer basket, but I am going to do the same for mine. Thank you so much for watching :)
I used this method today. I don’t have a pot large enough for the screen to fit in, so I had to make do with a large 12” chicken cooker fry pan and added 1/2 cup each of the baking soda and vinegar. It worked great. It took about 30 minutes. My splatter screen was pretty grimy. Thanks for the video!!
I used this method today....I had my doubts it would work, but wow! It looks like new and mine was pretty much brown and black, even though i had wiped it every time i used it. I used an S.O.S. pad for around the clips, and all the black came off.....thank you so much for this video!
I was searching to buy a new one, and found this! Will definitely try this. The dishwasher doesn't clean it beyond getting the loose grease off of it. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I don't know how long I've had my ninja food XL grill. I've scrubbed the screen after each use, without much improvement. Tonight I decided to use your method. The pot was awful afterward, the water was brown. My screen is good as new. And the pot was easy to clean also.
You can also put the screen in top shelf of your dishwasher. I do the vinegar baking soda every so often for deep, clean and the dishwasher every time after
Thanks. You showed us how to do the cleaning on the inner parts of the ninja grill. How about wiping down all the inner surfaces? How do we prevent build up on those areas?
Hi Rachel. Thank you for posting this. I tried it tonight and it worked nicely. :-) The only real struggle I had was with the metal clip parts and the metal ring around the edge. Even with soaking I had to really really scrub those parts with the grill brush and they came most of the way clean. I scrubbed till I couldn't anymore. I have some trouble with my hands so it got a little difficult. Then I threw it in the dishwasher. Bottom line, it's much better than before. :-) thank you
@@NightTimeMommyReviews, today I cleaned my screen like this for the second time. It turned out even better than the first. :-). However, I have found when I use this method, that as I'm adding the baking soda, and vinegar slowly, there starts to be a residual baking soda residue on my stove all around the pot. I end up having to clean my whole stove after doing this. I'm totally grateful for the method, any tips on maybe not having that happen? Lol I know. It's totally a first world problem. :-)
Thanks for the tips... ! I just can't keep my shout mouth ... Is it necessary to keep the water running while I scrub the shield...? Please , please please take care of it. ♥️
I made a hamburger in the grill and the screen was not nice and clean. I followed your advice on using the vinegar and baking soda. It is like brand new.
Hi, I have found just washing after every day has kept my splatter guide nice and clean, it does not have time to get too mucky, just wash it at the end of my normal washing-up. Hope you have a great day.
Yay. I am so glad I could help :) Thank you for watching. The basket I would wash with warm soapy water. If there is grease build up on the basket you could then add baking soda, and pour vinegar over the baking soda. Allow to sit for an hour, and use warm soapy water along with the Ninja cleaning brush, and it should come right off depending on the amount of build up :) Hope that helps
Hi Alec, I hand wash after every use, and clean the splatter shield once a month using this method depending on build up. If I make alot of meat, and I see the grease really build up then I will do it sooner. It really varies on what you tend to cook. :)
Yes ofcourse. I use this method once a month or so depending on the things I am cooking in the grill. The screen should be washed after every use but I have found there are still pockets of grease that remain, and this does the trick :)
I sent you a message earlier regarding the NFG cleaning. I clean my grill after each use, but have noticed a film, a greasy film left on the grill even after two washings. I absolutely LOVE your video on cleaning the grease screen in the baking soda and vinegar. It works like a charm. Have you ever put your grill in there for a deeper clean? I'm considering it to cut that film of grease.
Hi Tracy :) For the grill main unit, I have used a baking soda/vinegar paste to remove the built up grease, and used a wet rag to clean it off. This works well since the unit is large and I dont want to submerge it in liquid. I show how in this video below. Hope this helps :) Thanks for watching ruclips.net/video/udfsniX-UBI/видео.html&t
@@NightTimeMommyReviews Oh, no I was not considering submerging the whole unit! (Ha!) No, I meant the actual grill part that you can take in and out to clean, the part that you put your steak, pork chop, scallops on. Do you think I could drop it into that vinegar baking soda "bath"?
My Ninja has a round splatter shield. My Ninja was given to me at Christmas. I haven’t used it yet because I cannot get the shield to release when I press the tab. Is it faulty, or WHAT???
could I pour the boiling water into the NFG cookpot then dunk the splatter screen into it, add the other and let it soak for a good while? That's about the only size pot I have that fits!
Thank you Rachel for the great tip on how to clean the splatter guard. I have an issue with the grill plate itself. I grilled frozen salmon that was already marinated it caused a lot of stubborn grease buildup. I used the brush that was provided and scrubbed for a long time. I also soaked it in vinegar and water for a few hrs which helped a little. Since that episode of the salmon, a lot of grease sticks on and takes about a half hr to an hr to clean off. Is there an easy tip on cleaning the nonstick grill plate without distorting the grill? Thank you again!
Hi Noura :) I found that to be a struggle as well. I have actually found that the new dawn powerwash spray is great for the grill grate. It sprays in between the grates, and after sitting for just a couple minutes, its ready to be wiped down. I believe the powerwash spray is only $4.99 at Target right now, and since its a new product they have a $2.50 coupon in the target app so it ends up being $2.49. Its a great deal, and I personally have loved it!
Put it in the dishwasher. Instead of soap fill the dispenser with powdered country time lemonade. Your splatter shield will be clean but you'll never drink country time again
Hi Angela please visit my other video where I show how to reisert the splatter shield. I show it at 18:24 in the following video ruclips.net/video/udfsniX-UBI/видео.html
Hey Rachel. I have used this method to clean my splatter shield and it's fantastic. :-) thank you so much. But I also have a question. I have some baked on grease residue in my air crisp basket. At least I think it's grease. It's rather reminiscent of the discoloring of a cookie sheet if that makes sense. Do you think this method would work on the air crisp basket to release some of that? Have you ever tried it?
Hey Rachel. The update is it worked on my air crisp basket too. :-) I didn't have a pot big enough to hold the basket, so I just used to the base pan. I poured in boiling water and then slowly added the vinegar and baking soda. I let it sit for 15 minutes. I probably should have let it sit longer, but with a little bit of scrubbing and 45 minutes soak in hot water and Dawn after the cleaning procedure, it looks almost like new again. :-)
I wouldnt be able to say without seeing, but if you have only used it a couple times, I imagine it is grease. I would recommend using the vinegar and baking soda method as it is a natural method for removing both grease and even rust
