- We visit Todds Motorhomes to look at some new Swift motorhomes, this first one is a Swift Edge 476, a six berth motorhome, under 3500kg max weight, for £48,800. We also discuss the upcoming VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) changes, commonly known as road tax, this motorhome is unaffected as it has the slightly older Euro 6B engine.
We do Motorhome Reviews, Motorhome Days Out, Help, Hints and Tips on Motorhomes, Motorhome Tours in the UK and Europe, we visit Motorhome Shows, and spend over a third of our year living in a motorhome. In fact all things motorhome!

Thanks!
You two are so so watchable and, speak so nicely to oneanother. Good review and, as far as I'm concerned, you can look in as many cupboards as you like!
Always enjoy your vids.
Thanks for your support!
Having just hired a swift escape 684 from swiftgo for a 2 week trip around France. This drop down bed is a huge upgrade over the escape as you can sit beneath the bed while in use. Not the case with the escape, I am however not all that happy with the build quality of the swift it feels very cheap when using it yet it's a 50k motorhome.
Thanks for the information as always Bob. Can't understand having only one garage door. Who would want to climb in and have to crawl across the width to retrieve anything? Pop's an angel.
Hi Bob & Jenny just discovered your videos really enjoy them. I've just bought my first motorhome although I have had towing caravans previously. Having looked at your past videos I feel I know you two now lol. Hope someday we will meet up somewhere in our travels. Keep up the good work. By the way your poppy sets my two dogs off when she barks lol
Thanks glad you enjoyed the videos
keep up the good work. love your videos.
Loved the drop down bed.
Yes, nice and uncomplicated.
Hey Bob , just a thought , most Volvo truck and bus dealers , or Volvo lorry dealers sell ad blue from a bulk tank , the last I heard it was 35p/L , much better than one of those squishy bags from a shell at £2/L 😉 , better still open an account and fill up all over the country ,
That is a very nice motor home, but your right it would be better for family of four, nice to you all 👍👍👍
Interesting proposition. A young family with a larger awning/tent on a well-appointed site would be likely fine I think (price in mind). The seats for two kids + labrador would be fine or four twenty somethings (borrowing it in summer perhaps - obv not 4 big guys but....). I like the drop down bed as less to go wrong and works fine................I think I saw the cab does have air con standard (swift site) but no airbag for passenger is against the tide..........Engine upgrades would have licence implications (check swift site to be sure) and then start spending on a low end one you wonder if defeats the purpose. Thought-provoking vid - thanks as usual.
Yes, it is an option to buy cheap and add to it. But you can't easily add things like engine upgrade and air bags.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo I am looking into a motorhome as a possibility in the UK market and like your vids. FWIW I visited the Swift site again for my research. They have a useful configurator and things like passenger airbag / engine upgrades come in factory fit packs that would add easily GBP5.5K to the sticker price. I would probably be more more interested in a different layout but that's personal.....Worthwhile video on an interesting proposition...Cheers..EDIT: If anyone ever sees this I meant to add those add ons are not cheap and order time is the only real time they are ever going to be added, and if not added and resold it's in the second hand market minus things many see as needed .............Interesting BUT:)..................As say good review though.
Wow..
Report a wonderful and beautiful ..🌺🌷🌺
question :- is there a driver side (Left Hand) (LHD)..?
Thank you..
Sorry I don't know if there is a left hand drive version.
Nice Motorhome at a good price. I would think it would be a squeeze for Six. As a Caravan owner it is not an issue so much as the rules are quite simple, but being based on commercial vehicle bases how are you affected by the ULEZ areas at the moment in London but planned for other cities in the next few years? Ian & Sonja
As far as I understand euro 6 are unaffected, euro 5 will be affected soon. Not that I drive into many cities with the motorhome. Was more of an issue in German cities.
I am with Covered in Paint, also your comments on that garage needing another door. About the only positive was that manual drop down bed. This is one of those layouts where you wonder if the designer ever spent an hour in a motorhome, let alone 3 weeks or longer on a European tour. Even if you had a weight upgrade, should it be possible, as you say at a push it’s a four berth but still with extremely challenging storage issues. It seems keeping the price down has taken priority and compromised it’s basic purpose in my view.
Nice review.
Looks Awesome ...
I’ve just watched that bit on VED about half a dozen times, think I understand what your saying but it makes no sense from a government point of view, am I right in saying the less clean non adblue engine is cheaper to tax and no initial new price to pay ?
Yes, you are correct, it makes no sense at all. Does anything make sense at the moment?
So is there 2 versions of Euro 6 ? Adblue and non Adblue ... another strange one is the over 3.5t being cheaper to tax. I contemplated uplating our Bailey when we got it 3 years ago, wish i had now but don’t think I will bother anymore as probably won’t keep it long enough to make it worth while.
No passenger airbag, i can't believe in this day and age this has been omitted, obviously the passenger is of no consequence.
Hmm, 6 berth, but very little locker space, none in the bedroom, only a 3 burner hob, and a tiny fridge. Those "wardrobes" are useless. During the day, one is full of tables and infill cushions, and the other has a hanging rail when there isn't enough of a drop to use it for hanging anything. The bedroom looked very cold and clinical too. Still, I suppose for the price, you get what you pay for.
Nice big garage but with a silly payload on a six berth the only thing in it will be dust .
I thought 509kg payload was OK for 6 berth motorhome under 3500kg.
Probably kids but at 75kg for adults would only leave 125kg for everything. Definitely room for uprating.
Nice big van, although I'm baffled why you often have to pay extra for the passenger airbag in a lot of motorhomes.
smashing video`s but i must be the only one thinking a need to win the lottery to get one
We remortgaged for our first one!!
Not for me will pass on that model.
I could run my mobile massage business in that. Is enough room for Dom stuff in the garage.
I love the travel seats area. But the bathroom is too small. Pass
6 Berth on 3.5 tons yep vosa will be rubbing their hands when they see these coming down the road !!
Massive lack of windows
Agree especially at the back.
