Well, the first one was very basic. He never told us whether the one jimmy picked was gonna go in his mouth or between his hands, so free choice for the magician, to proceed the trick as the situation arises.
Remember, That AGT dare guy used to do the same thing.( His name was Crow something ).

The people he picked were both the first in their groups to make suggestions among themselves, and they were also the ones to pick the animals. Coached participants do not a good magic show make. Also, he leaned the arm he wanted Jimmy to pick forward; a very common psychological trick for making people accept something.

They're plants, but what's worse is that jimmy was in on it- he picked the first girl who just so happened to be across from the plant, but also the first girl was the one who said peru, not the curly haired one. But there's another reason no one has mentioned in the comments here- the guy would've had to get seats for his plants. He can't just rely on like bribing random audience members, he'd need his own people. So fallon's staff would've had to get them not only tickets, but seat them in aisle seats on each side. Also you can't possibly tell me that black girl is a random audience member she's so obviously an actress, and not very good at hiding it, watch her again.

Joshua Jay is a pretty good magician...but not here. I get the feeling he was called like two hours before the show, given a time restriction and asked if he could do a trick that works on TV in that spot. So...he got a fish and a couple of pads at Walmart and borrowed a friend’s snake. Dude must’ve come up with this in the car on the way over. This was not good, not entertaining, and not on par with what I know Joshua can do.

Calling a magic act "scripted" or saying "That person is in on it" is the laziest solution anyone could ever come up with. And i see people say this all.the.time. There is a trick, a method, to every magic trick that doesnt require actors/stooges. Try thinking a little deeper than automatically jumping to "Its scripted! Theyre in on it!"
Once you completey throw out the idea of actors/stooges and camera tricks to explain magic tricks, you begin the first step into *actually* solving the trick correctly.
